Dr. Blechman is a very talented plastic surgeon who takes the time to ensure that you fully understand the potential impact of any procedures. I first saw Dr. Blechman because I was interested in the removal of a tiny mole/​lesion about an inch below my eye. I was referred by my dermatologist who believed the lesion was benign so this was to be a purely cosmetic procedure. It was 3 and half months before my upcoming wedding, and Dr. Blechman made sure I understood the potential for swelling and scarring that could take up to a year or more to dissipate fully. I had a good feeling about the procedure and about Dr. Blechman so I went for it. Within a week the incision site was barely noticeable (and certainly less noticeable than the mole had been!) — everyone heals differently, but this was my experience. A few days later, my pathology report came in and showed that what we thought had been a harmless mole was basal cell carcinoma. I underwent a Mohs procedure, which is done by a doctor specializing in that area, and had the option of having the incision closed up on site or going to a plastic surgeon. Of course, I went back to Dr. Blechman who made time to see me on the day of the procedure despite not having office hours that day. I’m only about 5 days post-​surgery and still have some swelling and redness, but all in all, the result is better than I could have ever anticipated. A few of my colleagues who have undergone similar procedures have commented what an amazing job my surgeon did.
I am so grateful to Dr. Blechman — had he not been so informative and sincere about the original «cosmetic» procedure, I may have opted to wait and do nothing about it for quite some time, which would have most certainly resulted in the cancer attacking more tissue. These factors are far and away all I need in a doctor, but I would also add that his office and staff are just lovely — the place is extremely well run, organized, clean and easy to get to, and it is evident that everyone there genuinely cares about their patients.
