PSA: many of their items are sold at a significant markup compared to other reputable outlets. For example, the Kangol Ventair Spacecap retails for $ 49 in the Columbus Ave store, while Kangol’s own online store (!) sells it for $ 39, with free shipping. The style can also be found at other reputable online stores for even less. Just make sure you do your research before making a purchase– otherwise a great place to try on things before pulling the trigger.

I’ve been coming to this store for years now and have always walked away a satisfied customer. Not by any means a large shop, they still have a great selection including the latest and greatest styles. Customer service has always been above par for me having a knowledgeable and helpful staff always there assisting in selecting the right lid (and in one case a jacket as well so they do offer more than just accessories). Yes, prices may be a bit on the high end, but not when I factor in the fact that I have some styles from Kangol lasting me years now, being worn to this very day.

Stopped in this store this morning to look at and hopefully buy a hat. Upon entering I casually mentioned it was quite chilly outside. For the life of me I don’t know how or why my comment triggered an angry, aggressive and almost manic 10-​minute diatribe from the store manager about: global warming; profiteers who don’t care about the environment; and, the manager having «had 55 good years» and his desire «to leave something for the children.» After listening politely for a few minutes I mentioned I was there wanting to buy a hat. Another customer came in and the manager also directed his dogma at her. OK pal, god bless you, but how about dialing down the sermon and selling me a hat? I never got to look at or try anything on – the manager clearly wasn’t interested in selling me a hat and his manner was off putting at best.

I stopped by looking for a hat for my Fiancé. As I am not well educated on makers of men’s hats I was a little hesitant to purchase but the gentleman there Darrick was very helpful. He did try to talk me into a larger size than I wanted but I stood my ground and purchased the one I wanted. He then told me if it was too small that I could call them and exchange it via mail for the correct size.

DO NOT buy the Bamboo Long Pullover. It stretched out of shape after just a few hours. Terrible quality for an expensive $ 55 hat. The store manager — Steve — is condescending and would not return/​exchange the hat even though it was within the 7-​day store policy. Glanced at the hat and determined it wasn’t a manufacture defect.

I am a tall and bald man with a shaved head, who stopped in this store yesterday. I like Kangol and have owned several Kangol hats over the years, Unfortunately the store hired 2 young male clowns as salesmen who thought it was funny to take my picture with their phone when they thought I wouldn’t notice. (presumably of my bald head?)The young black salesman and his young white and tragically hipster co-​worker giggled like school boys looking at the picture they took of me, this in a store they both work in and represent. Of course all the time thinking I didn’t see any of this, and never offering any sales help… Ha ha bald man buyin a hat, …really?.. Who hired these idiots? And who is the joke on? Perhaps the 2 hat salesmen who couldn’t sell a hat to a bald man on a cold day? Won’t be back plenty of other friendly and better quality hat stores in NYC.

This small store has got to be among the top retailers in NYC. For a store the size of a postage stamp, it has the complete array of Kangol hats, gloves and scarves, which are cool, and you are free to try on and preen in front of a mirror as long as you wish. I get compliments on my Kangol hat all the time.
But that’s not why I’m writing this review. This is for the customer service here, which is just great. If there is something you like, they will find it in your size and color in that small store. In terms of delivering it to you, they will go to lengths that are radical and unexpected. I won’t even specify what they did to get my last purchase to me when it wasn’t immediately available in the shop on the day I visited. It was unbelievable customer service, literally.
So I say, open a branch in Chicago – I assure you, there is a market there for hats, gloves and scarves. If not, see you guys in NYC. Often, I hope.

First, I love their hats. Great selection and great sense of style. Totally comfortable, wearable, etc.
Second, I really adore their staff. They have two men who are both lively and energetic in their interaction with their clients, and they were amazingly helpful. They made the experience truly delightful and I will absolutely shop there again.
I was, by the way, shopping for my husband, and was assured that no matter what, if he didn’t like the hat or it didn’t fit him, he could completely come in and exchange it, no problem. They were amazing. We’ll be back.

Nice place with a good selection. I came here once in high school to get a hat & once again recently. The guy there on my last visit didn’t try very hard to find the hat I was looking for in my size until i suggested places he could look. They ended up not having in back or available to order. I searched online & found it significantly cheaper than in store. It is a nice place to see the hats in person & there is a good chance that more often than not you will find a hat here you won’t find somewhere else.

This was an online/​telephone shopping experience with Chuck and Steve at the one and only authorized Kangol store in North America. Yes you can buy Kangol products online and in other stores but this is the only bricks and mortar store dedicated to all things Kangol.
I wanted a scarf for my son to go with his two new jackets, something a bit different than a plain ribbed scarf. So I checked the
site for one I liked and then called the NYC store. Chuck said he would be happy to send me photos of the scarves that would go with both black and grey. He sent me numerous photos and then we discussed them over the phone so I could make a selection. I decided on an acrylic scarf in black and grey with some small dots known as the Checkers scarf.
Chuck told me the price and emailed me a form to fill out and return to complete the transaction as they do not have a website. He even reduced the price of the postage a bit to match the amount of the
site. That was super nice!
I was very satisfied with the service and the time that Chuck and his partner spent with me just for this small purchase. It appears that these guys are truly happy hatters in a mad hatter world. One day I’m going to see the store for myself as I am somewhat mad about hats. And yes I wear a size large black Kangol Shavora casual with a contrasting button on top. This is the best hat I own because it fits my big head! You can’t go wrong with the best hip hop hats in the USA.

Kangol is the only hat that I wear. And this place I’m adding to keep track of places where I can procure my chapeau. They were helpful. They have a really great selection. It was the largest selection I’ve seen in NY, but pretty decent.

This was my first visit to the Big Apple, and being the hat enthusiast I am, shopping at the one and only Kangol store in North America, was one of my priorities.
It did not look like I was going to have the time to visit the store because of my family’s busy itinerary, but I called to see how late they were open.
The guy who answered the phone was more than accommodating, and he offered to stay late. Gotham is The City that Never Sleeps! He had no idea how badly I wanted to visit the Empire City store.
The Kangol Store was everything I wanted and more!
The big selection I was counting on (this is New York City after all) was there in all it’s glory. The individual who served us truly exceeded my expectations, and my expectations were high.
I counted on walking into a quality hat store, a style sanctuary, where my family and I would be be taken care of. I wanted to share my Kangol love with my kids, and introduce them to the brand, where they could see the plethora of options available for them.
The guy that served us, immediately made us feel welcome. He was very friendly, accommodating and helpful with the kids. Despite the long day of travel, the kids were all very excited to check out all the different lids. He knew the trade, and he knew it well.
I am happy to say that we all came away with sweet lids, in a wide variety of styles and colours (yep — that’s the correct Canadian spelling).
I was ectastic that I was able to buy a fuzzy pink fugora bucket hat for my three year old daughter. My youngest son showed his suave GQ style, choosing a Escher Check 504 cap. My oldest son went with the symbolic red & white stars on the Hero Earlap Peak pull-​on. My lovely wife picked up a Wave Tex floppy acrylic toque, while I was quite happy with my Jacquard Player hat.
Thanks for taking care of us. We look forward to our next visit!

Kangol hats are a great hat brand, I have a couple hats myself. During a recent visit to NYC, I had to check out the store. It is not an impressive space. It’s small. But it has alot of great hats for men, women and kids.
I didn’t buy anything, but now that I’m back home in Miami, I wish I did. I tried on a couple Tropics, made for warm weather, but I didn’t pull the trigger and I’ll have wear baseball hats in this heat!

I have not been here yet, but I am just glad that they exist, and I will soon.
Also, if you want to bring a 3 yr old to a store so she can kick one of their hats for sale on the ground, don’t do it in the only Kangol store in North America. I can’t say I feel bad for you.

Approximately 12′ x 20′ store interior… and a shitload of dope hats to choose from. The sales person was chill and knew what looked fresh-​dipped and what was ho.ho.hot garbage.
If you want a better selection and better quality hats than the bootlegs they have in chinatown, hit this spot up.
This was the ONLY spot where I could find my legit LLCoolJ hat… in all of Manhattan?!

I went in here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the selection and the service. For such a tiny store they had an impressive array of hats. I told the employees what I was looking for and they were very helpful and knowledgable. The made many suggestions and were able to pick up on what I was looking for. I was able to find the perfect hat at a very reasonable price.
When I paid for my hat I accidentally left my card on the counter. The employee left a busy store to chase me down and give me back my card. He ran a block and was very courteous.
Next time I need a hat I will definitely be coming back to Kangol.

It has been a recurring problem since birth that everywhere I go I can hear someone saying, «That guy should be wearing a Kangol.» Forget Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash, Run-​DMC and LL Cool J, Kangol has always been more about me than the 1980’s rap world.*
When I first walked by this Kangol store, I did a double take. The two takes were: I have never heard of a Kangol store and how hard will they laugh when I walk in? This was quickly erased as I did not go in after peering through the window awkwardly for more than a moment.
After remaining in this neighborhood on a consistent basis for a number of months I finally went inside the store and no one laughed, at least not to my face.** I realized quickly that the selection was extremely solid, but most of these hats were not going to necessarily work on me. However, the world opened up for me in the form of baseball hats, winter hats and scarves.
For two entire winters I have abused my Kangol winter hat and scarf and received compliments on them rather than snickers for trying to look like Samuel L. Jackson at every award show.***
The variety in here was truly surprising and I would not be reaching to say that there could be a hat of some sort in here for anyone. The prices are decent and the store is tiny so a full view will only take a few minutes to see if I was right or not.
