Finally, I got to try the ridiculous pizzacone. And you know what? It’s really not bad! It’s not greasy or fried or disgusting in any of the ways you might expect. In fact, it might even be, dare I say it, somewhat healthy. Well, the guy asked if I wanted whole wheat bread at any rate. Don’t expect a miracle of taste or anything. Two stars is being generous for this sort of thing. In fact, you should decide to try it soon before they inevitably close. Ditto Kyochon next door. I wonder if they’re related? K? Koreatown does seem to be expanding… I welcome that, by the way. Yum. The cone in question comes in small at $ 3.60 or large for $ 4.60. Novelty prices to be sure, and he was out of the large and also a few flavors when I stopped in. Out of large? Isn’t the obvious $ 1 upgrade to the large size the whole reason you have price points? Not the route to fabulous profits, my cone-slinging friend. They’re flexible about toppings, though. My ladyfriend can’t eat tomatoes even when they’re sauced, so I was offered, and I accepted, a pesto substitution for her. I’m trying to think of an analogy for the pizzacone to give you some idea of what it is, because most people think it sounds pretty gross. Umm, a rolled-up crêpe perhaps? A gyro with cheese, veggies, and optional meat? Something like that. Bite around the edges so you don’t burn yourself or make a mess.

(****) — – Toppings: Unlimited, plenty of choices, but doesn’t look fresh. \ /— - Sauce: Choice of tomato, bbq or pesto. The tomato sauce \ /tastes like ketchup. Bleh. V— Cone: White or wheat. Tastes okay, a bit hard though. I guess It’s supposed to be hard so it can hold the stuffing. Think of this place as the McDonald’s for pizza. Okay, slightly more nutritious than McDonald’s because of the whole wheat crust and veggies toppings.

Walked by this place on the way to school and thought this place was unique. I never had a pizza in a cone before so I decided to give it a go. I decided to get a small cone since I only wanted a light snack. Pros: — Tasted Good and it had a nice crunch. — Allowed you to choose between a whole wheat and plain cone for the same price. Of course I went for whole wheat since it’s healthier. — Made the Pizzacone on the spot and was fast. Cons: — Pricey. I could have gotten a regular slice of pizza with toppings for less $. — The cone was kind of small Note: — Something worth to try just not worth the money.

Despite the sniggering from co-workers after I brought this thing back to the office, and the disbelieving texts from friends, I indulged in this so-called phenomenon called a «pizzacone». One coworker literally wanted to put it under a microscope and I pointed out that a) we’re a law office… we don’t have those, and b) this is going right into my belly in the next 5 minutes. Well, it kinda tasted like pizza, and it was in a cone, so it has that going for it. Maybe I just don’t get it. Maybe I live in a city with the best pizza in the country. But I don’t get the pizzacone. First off, there’s a «small» for $ 4 and a «large» for $ 5. I pride myself in finding good slices of pizza for $ 2-$ 2.50. We’re already starting this experience out in a hole. Then, the woman in front of me proceeded to order TWENTY of these damn things. In retrospect I would realize this was a really bad move on her part since these things are not anything special. They’re okay, but not worth $ 4-$ 5. Surprisingly, they take my order immediately afterward. Okay, cool. They’re not gonna make me wait behind business meeting superheroine up there… Or not. I watched the pizzacones being made(mine included) in the same batch, and then placed in the oven at the same time. Nothing would have stopped them from putting several in at a time so at least I’d be in one of the first batches, but nope, all at the same time. Problem is, my lone pizzacone had to wait while the rest of the cones were being made. I ordered at 12:37. I didn’t walk out until 12:50. Considering the fact that creation took maybe a minute, and the time in the oven less than 5, this is kind of annoying. As for the cone itself? It’s okay, but not spectacular. Certainly not worth all the hoopla it gets. I ordered the«large» grilled chicken and mozzarella cone, and at the very least the chicken and cheese were fresh. The cone/pizza crust was pretty chewy though, and I wasn’t a fan. The«ready made» cones are the way to go because the ones you design yourself start at a base of $ 5 and then each ingredient is $ 0.50 afterwards. P. S. Having blown up posters of pizzacones on the wall while you force me to wait and wait and wait to eat my own? Not cool man. Not cool. P. P. S. Oh, and there’s hardly any seating area. 4 chairs and a small counter, so you’ll be forced to bring this thing back to your office and endure the insults and sideways glances.

The Bad — Bit expensive — No more combo meals! — Pretty small environment The Good — Pizza in a cone, what’s there not to like — Unlimited toppings — Now has whole wheat — Choice of pesto sauce — Nice, crunchy, and fresh — Cool box The Bottomline– Definitely worth the trip. You can create your own or pick from one of their choices. The prices don’t differ that much. I would recommend you making your own. Yummy!

I have passed this place plenty of times. The idea of pizza in a cone never really appealed to me. A few Unilocalers recommended this place. So I decided to try it out for lunch. I went with the(small) Mushroom & Bacon in a whole wheat cone. The wait was about 2 minutes since all the toppings had to be thrown in and heated. There, I tried it. THE ‘pizza cone.’ I still prefer my pizza in sliced form with a hearty, doughy crust. The filling(mushroon, bacon and mozzerella) was tasty but not really a fan of the thick, cookie like cone. It’s worth a try if you’re in the area. It is ‘different.’

FREAKINGGENIUS. So its pretty self explanatory. Basically pizza(ie: with cheese, sauce, a variety of toppings) wrapped in a pizza crust cone. Had the choice of whole wheat or plain. You can either choose the ones that were readily prepared or you can create your own pizza cone. Create your own is slightly more expensive but you can have unlimited toppings so I’m not complaining. Had whole wheat cone with pesto and marinara. Requested a lot of sauce. Went down the list for veggies. Mozzarella. Got both chicken and steak for meat. The«scooper» had a lot of leftovers that didn’t fit in the pizza cone and the remaining ingredients went to waste. They heat it up on the spot. Because the broccoli was frozen, the middle became a bit watery and cold. Didn’t complain though since it was still good. Happy Customer.

Even hearing bad reviews I felt maybe just maybe I might differ in opinion. Sadly not the case. I had tried both the dessert cone and a pizza cone. I ordered the banana flambée dessert. It was not that bad… the chocolate wasn’t chalky syrupy powder mix as I had been expecting. It was nice and warm, and actually tasted like chocolate not the best but still tasted like chocolate. The only highlight of the banana flambée was the top part of the cone. The top had slightly hardened bananas which gave it a unique texture, but eating the rest of the cone was comparable to taking a bottle of chocolate syrup and drinking it. YUCK!!! Also I ordered the BBQ chicken, which was bland. To me an ideal pizza would have a crispy crust and flavorful toppings that complimented each other. But here the cone wasn’t crispy and just bland!!! Pizzacone wasn’t that bad but because of the cost and the long wait time. It just isn’t worth it for mediocrity.

I arrived at K! Pizzacone a skeptic(What is all the fuss about???), ready to disprove(to myself) all of the hype surrounding it. Well, I walked out not entirely a hater, but not exactly a convert either. The positive: The treat itself(for me, it was a Mozzarella, Tomato and Prosciutto Pizzacone) was quite nice. Fabulous as lunch on the go, as there was zero grease drippage. My two cents: It would make a fantastic microwaveable dinner. Pizzacone = the next Hot Pocket! The negative: This quirky, fun food is relatively expensive.(My order was $ 6.42. Well, K! no doubt had to find some way to pay for the two useless flat screen TVs mounted side-by-side on their wall…) And the cones are quite small — the size of an actual ice cream. Next time, I’ll forgo the convenience factor and just grab a $ 0.99(flat) slice elsewhere. That way, I would also avoid attracting double-takes from passersby.(Thought process upon seeing Pizzacone: «Mmm, ice cream… with pasty-looking cream that stretches… ISTHATGLUE?!?)

Absolutely not worth it. I was pumped about visiting this place. Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed. It is a novelty, and nothing more. My friend and I went on a Sunday morning, at noon. There were only about 5 people in the place, so we figured it would take a few minutes and we would be enjoying our cones. It takes a solid 15 minutes to get your cone. And the cones are tiny. A large probably is near one regular slice. But if i had to put money on it, I’d say closer to ¾ of a regular slice. As for the taste, my bacon and mushroom was good enough. Nothing special. And for $ 8, take your money and go somewhere else.

I love novelty, so, you know, walking past at lunch and I had to give it a try. The wait wasn’t too bad(I think the initial opening rush has come and gone), and the staff seemed nice and friendly. What I don’t love is pizza crust, so you see I am the wrong demographic for this business. If you straight up love some(slightly burned) pizza crust then you will likely LOVE pizzacone. However, when I eat pizza I want it to be three things 1. Cheesy — OK they had this covered, good job. 2. Greasy — I think in order to have the cone hold its structural integrity they had to go with a less greasy formula. Minus points here. 3. Cheap — definitely not! My single cone plus a soda ended up costing me $ 8 and it was not worth it. I could get a slice nearby for $ 3-$ 4(or less!) and be the same amount of full. So, if you like novelty, by all means stop in. But I wouldn’t particularly recommend it.

I dropped by during lunch to see what the hype was all about. Pizza in a cone sounds like a good idea. I ordered the bacon/mushroom pizzacone. It came out to $ 6.42 with tax. A little pricey IMO for a pizza lunch. The cone itself was not bad. The cone was sturdy and ate like a thicker version of a sugar cone. I felt that there was a bit of an imbalance since all the cheese was on top, all the sauce on the bottom and the toppings kinda just jammed in there with no consistency. I noticed habits are hard to break as my first bite was nipping off the bottom of the cone. Bad idea since that’s where all the oil collects! I left a little hungry… for $ 4 more I could’ve gotten another cone and a soda but im not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze. I think i’ll be sticking to my corner pizzeria.

What happened to the other reviews? The skinny on this fatty cone is that it is an overpriced open-ended make your own Hot Pocket and I can’t find much fault(or glee) with that…

For the sheer glee I got from the novelty of eating pizza in the shape of a cone and the incredulous reactions I got eating it at a starbucks nearby, I considered this visit well worth the money. That having been said, my small sized pizzacone with unlimited toppings came out to a whopping $ 7.51(including tax). Be aware, the tiny shop gets packed during rush lunch hours and expect about a 5 minute wait as they assemble and bake each individual cone to order. There are some seats at the booth but it gets too crowded to be comfortable. My sister and I tried sitting for a while but left after a couple of minutes. ps — the fresh mozzarella, spinach, and bacon pizzacone was pretty good

The thrill of eating a pizzacone is merely just that — that you’re eating a pizzaCONE! Is it a culinary masterpiece? Absolutely not. It is good? Well, yes, yes it is. Probably more fun than good(look ma, my pizza’s a cone!), but were you really expecting to be blown away? My friends & I ventured over here after reading all about this place for the last few days. Our total wait time was probably about 10 minutes, from waiting in line to placing our order to waiting for our cones to get cooked. The endless options are great(yet miserable for an indecisive person like myself). MANY ingredients to choose from, and you even have a choice between tomato sauce & pesto. There’s your basic pizza options like plain cheese or pepperoni, or you can get all fancy smancy & put something together with prosciutto and artichokes. Ah! The options are endless! If you’re in the area, stop on by with friends, it’s kinda fun. If it’s raining or you’re claustrophobic, you may want to wait for another day. Pizzacones are definitely meant as a grab & go meal(there are about 5 seats at most).

Isn’t this just Pizza-in-a-Cup from The Jerk? Well, if I’m willing to try a haggis spring roll, I certainly can’t balk at trying pizza-in-a-cone. Alright, so here’s the concept: a cone made from pizza dough is stuffed with your choice of ingredients and sauce(tomato or pesto), and then heated in an oven. On the one hand, I have to admit it’s convenient, enabling you to eat your pizza with one hand while walking down the street. On the other hand, the crust is too crisp, it takes too long to heat up your cone, and it’s a bit pricy for what amounts to a subpar slice. Amusing, but I’ll stick to conventional pizza.

The pizza cone was better than I had expected. From the picture it looked like a slice of pizza just wrapped into a cone shape… This is not the case. The cone is actually stiffer much like that of a very thick(wow I bet you can’t guess) unsweetened Ice Cream Cone. They have a whole bunch of toppings to choose from, sort of like a make your own salad bar. I went simple and just added mushrooms though I wish I was a little more adventurous. The first bite was a little messy… cheese all over my nose, but that could be attributed to my large nose more than anything else. As with an ice cream cone my favorite part was the last bite… lots of crunch yet still some cheese and sauce to go with it. Very interesting concept. I think they will be around for awhile.

K! pizzacone is doing exactly what they came here to do; serving good pizza in a cone. The pizza is a lot better than I’ve had before, probably because they cook it fresh in an oven rather than a microwave, like the other pizzacones I’ve had. For about $ 5, you get a cone, .50 cent for one topping and $ 1 for two or more toppings. For around $ 10, you can get two cones and a drink. The combo will definitely fill you up. I’m very content after one K!!! cone, myself. The small one is referred to as K!, the larger size a K… The pizza is good. Nice, gooey cheese and pretty good sauce. The crust has good flavor, as well. The breakfast pizza was surprisingly good, as well. I ordered mine with fresh mozz, and it came with scrambled egg, bacon and ham, SO tasty. I still have yet to try a dessert cone, but when I do, it’ll be the chocolate dessert cone with Banana Flambé. I’m very excited to try a dessert. The store is nice and clean, very friendly service, and some smooth music to add to the ambiance. The only thing is you need to give then about 5 mines to cook your cone in the oven, so be patient. Grand opening for K! pizzacone is tomorrow, Monday. They will be open until midnight, they accept credit cards, and will be doing delivery, as well. This establishment is doing exactly what they need to be doing in this location, serving something unique, tasty, and a great value. Addition: I just went back and tried the banana flambé/chocolate dessert cone. Very tasty chocolate, a bit of bananas. but all in all, very good. The only downfall was that it was a bit messy. I can’t be too mad at them, though, because they probably haven’t made many dessert cones yet, since they opened a few days ago and everyone is trying the pizzacones first. Once they clean the dessert cones up, and speed up the serving process by a few minutes, they’ll be a BIG hit.

K! Pizzacone is now serving pizza in a cone during soft-opening. They will be officially open on Monday, Feb 22, 2010. On Fifth avenue between 32nd and 33rd street, in a mini store-front which was previously occupied by the Golosi gelato and it is few steps from the Jamba Juice. Besides pizza in a cone they also offer breakfast cones with scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, etc. as well as dessert cones with ice cream, banana-flambé, chocolate and berries… You can either order a large($ 5.90) or a small size cone($ 4.90). Add on ingredients are $ 0.50 for one and $ 1.00 two or more which is great deal. There are about twenty ingredients which you can customize your pizza in a cone; anything from sausage to BBQ chicken, from Prosciutto to Spicy Salami. There are also pre-selected versions like Mozzarella and Tomato, Four Cheese, Mushroom and Bacon, Pepperoni Grilled Chicken and more… For the initial test I ordered a large cone with mozzarella and tomato sauce which is basically a Margherita without the basil. Once the combo is made it takes about 7 – 10 minutes in the oven for the cone to be ready but once you take a bite you wonder how come no one else came up with this concept before. I thought the dough was nice and crispy but a bit on the sweet side same goes for the tomato sauce. This is a great meal on the go and you don’t have to worry about the oil dripping or hands getting greasy. You can either get a cone sleeve or a little to go box which the cone fits perfectly. I was told they are open from 7AM to Midnight once they are officially open on Monday. I can see this place become popular really quick so grab a cone soon before the lines…
