I had made a point of visiting this store while attending the SOFA show on vacation from California. We entered the store and the shop woman looked at us and did not even say hello. I said hello and finally she answered. Then I walked back admiring the lovely things in the store and the second woman in the store looked up from her desk acknowledging us. We were well dressed and just did not understand the clearly annoyed behavior. Did not feel comfortable to remain and shop, although there were lovely items to see and possibly purchase. We just left.

Unusual and beautiful collection of wearable art, contemporary and vintage jewelry by very talented artisans. They opened 1973 as the first gallery devoted to clothing as an art form and remains the country’s foremost showcase for wearable art. The gallery represents textile artists working in techniques such as silk painting, resist dying, loom-knitting and weaving. I haven’t bought anything here yet, but I might someday. I just love visiting to see their latest exhibits.
