Went here on a late Saturday night for a bite to eat with some friends. We were looking for a specific restaurant but gave up when we couldn’t find it, and said lets just eat here. I wish I could say I was wasted when I made that decision. The menu is overpriced. If you have to pay 15 dollars for a burger and it doesn’t come with something in French; it’s way too much. Walking in and looking around I could tell this building was once used for greatness. It has a great high domed ceiling of a once grand theater. It’s a shame to see it all go to waste. This is NY you can find better places to throw your money away.

Needing a place to eat at quickly, we chose this place as it seemed like it could be good, and was pretty packed. Well… I was quite wrong… very, very wrong. This is NOT a diner… we started off with truffle fries which were nothing more than french fries with oregano and grated parmesan cheese. Everything was extremely overpriced. I know the Times Square location is the reason for this inflation and it makes sense as most people there were tourists. The food was blah. I had a few shrimp in my pasta which cost over $ 24. They also threw on the side a leaf or two of lettuce which baffled me. The ahi tuna was not cooked rare and looked almost well done. The service was OK and our drinks were refilled. This place is garbage and I’d never go there again. Big mistake for simply wanting a quick meal and it was in the right spot. Never again… yuck!

We walked around town many times to attempt to find something we cant get back home, I thought Joe’s Diner was the place, but when you get inside its not a Diner, they call themselves a tavern inside. We decided to order Burgers, and while we waited the staff and thier managers were yelling back and forth, i think they should get the headsets so guests dont hear all the shouting. Also we had to ask for condiments and only got a small dipping portion, I never recieved a refill on my sodas. The guests were waiting for tables and brushing up against us while we ate. I was highly disappointed when I went looking for the«new york experience.» I got a unorganized bunch of staff running around following orders, not routines. It was a madhouse. We left a note on the reciept to explain our problems as well, I hope the staff gets together, It has the workings of a great place, but needs some work! Great look, great food, but service was rough. — John Dize, Crisfield, MD

If I could only give half a star I would. I ordered artichoke dip and was told ten minutes later they were out. I ordered Mac and cheese and am pretty sure it’s just from the freezer aisle at any given grocery store. I had a cup of coffee that apparently cost $ 4, and didn’t get my refill after i asked. The beers are small, I doubt even a pint, and the music is awful. Stay away, unless a hurricane has just hit and you need to charge your phone!

I was totally in the mood for ribs, so we went over, thinking it was still Famous Dave’s — it’s now Joe’s Tavern but it has the original Famous Dave’s sign that says RIBS, BBQ, CHICKEN so I think how bad could it be? Well the price was insane($ 28.99 for a half rack of ribs? I don’t think so) so we ended up each getting burgers — how bad could they be? 2 medium burgers that were listed as «on a brioche» which they weren’t. Regular day old buns, and burgers as dry as hockey pucks. For $ 25(the cost for each of us with a soda) it should have been better. I won’t be going again anytime soon. Or ever. So sad, it’s a great space. I should have known when they were playing Fox News on the TV that it was bad.
