3 stars for Jin Soon is a reasonable rating. Don’t get why Vogue claims that Jin Soon is one of best nail spots around. I guess Vogue editors get their nails done at Jin Soon for free.

Love, love, love this place! Everyone is professional and warm, the polish choices are beautiful, the space is cozy and inviting but more than all that, my polish lasts! You can get a cheaper manicure anywhere but that’s exactly what you get, a cheap manicure that chips in three days. I go out of my way to come here every week and the one week I couldn’t and went elsewhere, for two dollars less, I got an awful manicure so never again! I highly endorse Jin Soon and everyone that works there!

Oh how I love this place. One of the best pedicures I ever got in my life.

Ok, let me start out by saying that in general, I don’t much like getting pedicures. I get them because my feet are really awful and if I don’t get them, or at least do them myself, it’s actually pretty embarrassing to wear sandals. Usually, I get one done in late May, at the beginning of sandal-​wearing season, and then I do the rest myself until I can wear regular shoes in September.
But now that I discovered Jin Soon, I’ve actually been back there five times. Voluntarily. This is actually pretty amazing for me.
You know how sometimes you don’t even realize what you wanted until you actually get it? This place is one of those. First of all, I never realized until I came here how much I hated those stupid whirlpool foot things that all the other salons have. They make a ton of noise and actually, they’re not very sanitary. (Seems obvious, but it never really occurred to me before; because of how they’re shaped, they’re hard to clean thoroughly.) I also always hated those massage chairs at the other salons — the ones that poke you in the back with rollers (that one I always realized, but I put up with it because let’s face it, I had no choice.) Jin Soon dispenses with that stuff; they just have a nice porcelain bowl for pedicures and a bench with cushions for you to sit on while you’re getting your service — lovely and low key.
The ladies have always done a great job with the color on my toenails and my feet come out looking great. Everyone there is very pleasant, too, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. As others have noted, the place is small — two manicure stations and two pedicure stations — but I actually like that a lot, as it keeps the place from being a giant annoying scene. I guess my one complaint is that the bathroom is teeny weeny, and they keep cleaning stuff in there, but whatever — I come here for a pedicure, not to check out the toilet facilities.
The first time I was here, I got the cucumber mint pedicure, which was nice, but a little weird. Every other time I’ve gotten just the regular pedicure, and it’s great. I highly recommend this little gem in the East Village!

There are few places in New York City I’ve found that’s truly managed to give me a fully satisfied feeling about a mani pedi but Jin soon is definitely one of them. They have exceptional skills and are clean and fast. They also speak really good english which makes communication fast and easy.
Their pedicures are so refreshing and the massage was so nice. I totally recommend the cucumber and mint for summer pedis… Really just makes you feel good. The ladies were friendly and wonderful — it was totally worth the money. Pro tip: bring cash for gratuity!

I go to a lot of nail salons, and generally I try to go to a new one all the time, but Jin Soon keeps me coming back semi regularly. First, they have a relaxing, cute ambiance. It’s not super comfortable (this is a recurring theme among the «style» salons I have been too– same problem as Hortus if you want to see that review).
Second, they have Shellac brand gel polish which I love, and most importantly they know how to apply it correctly! It’s one of the few CND Certified Salons I have been to that actually uses the CND lamp. I also like that they don’t file my nail and damage it before applying the product. Keep up the good work Jin Soon Salon :-)
My only critique is that some of the nail ladies do a better job applying the color than others. Sometimes it’s too thick. Also great pedicure services here, and they offer almost every brand of polish you can think of except for long wear brands.

My favorite pedi place in the city. Great selection of nail polishes, they are consistent in my experience, and do a good job on the cuticles and polish.

Having read the NYT article about horrendous nail salon practices, I opted for a Jin Soon spa to avoid supporting abusive practices. This JS location is teeny tiny, and I’d suggest avoiding using their toilet if at all possible. If you’re larger than a petite sized female, you will have difficulty using the facilities with the door locked.
That said, the Milk & Honey manicures we had were pretty good. We found the pricing to be on par, or even slightly better than those in other North American cities, with a basic mani starting at $ 18. What I didn’t like was the additional charge for buffing. Neither myself or my BF wanted polish, and this is the first spa we’ve encountered that charges an additional fee ($ 5) to swap polish for a buff.
The girls at this location are pretty quiet and focused. They are speed demons when it comes to getting a treatment done, though I did not feel like any corners were cut. My manicurist took the time to trim, file, shape and buff, in addition to providing the hand and arm scrub that is part of the Milk & Honey treatment.
The only negative, which has nothing to do with the staff was a very rude woman who loudly chatted on her phone while getting a pedicure. Due to the small space, her entire conversation could be heard and parts of here conversation were annoyingly vapid and at times, inappropriate — let’s just blame the New Yorker in her for that one.
All in all, a recommeded, tiny nail spa.

I am going to keep it real, this is the second most expensive nail spa I have been to in NYC but it is well worth it. Because of the expense I got the cheapest mani-​pedi offered but I wanted to try it out and these ladies did not disappoint. They were friendly and knowledgeable about their craft and my nails were GORGEOUS! I would definitely save to come back here.

honestly: flower petals and cucumber slices in the water should be something that comes on top of a fair nail care, not instead.

Wonderful and high quality nail salon. I haven’t been there for 10 years, went today, and was very happy.

I had some time to kill while my husband was record shopping, so I came here today at around 4pm as a walk-​in and they took me right away. I got the The Balm of Purity pedicure, which was quite nice since my feet were killing me after walking around all day.
Pros:
*Staff was very nice and attentive. They offered water, tea, coffee & magazines, asked if I was too warm, and checked on everything from nail shape to the temperature of the lotion and the hot towel.
*Good massage of my legs and feet with the warm lotion. My skin is soft and moisturized and my legs and feet feel better.
*The products they use were good quality. They had a fairly extensive collection of nice polishes (NARS, Butter London, Chanel, Essie, OPI, CND, and of course Jin Soon), and you could tell they weren’t old/​dried or thinned out. They also used pure essential oils in the soak. I got the peppermint, which was lovely and refreshing.

Yes, the space is tiny, so I’m sure it can feel crowded. Yes, the bathroom feels cramped with brooms/​mops, etc., but I’m not sure how you could reasonably expect that it could be otherwise since they have to be economical with space already. I can see how this might not be as spa-​like for some, but I personally thought this shop was perfectly fine. The pedicure service was solid, and the technicians were all really nice and they even let me plug in my phone to charge since my battery was running low. The Japanese theme and décor was a nice touch, and it was a slower day so even though the shop is a bit small, I felt calm and relaxed throughout my treatment. Overall, I’m pleased with my experience here.

Love love this place! Especially for a nice, relaxing pedicure. They offer several different types of foot soaks. Your feet and legs will thank you for taking the time and extra money to get pampered at Jin Soon. When you sit down they also offer you water and tea– my favorite is the orange zest tea. No one speaks on their phones b/​c it is frowned upon, thankfully. Just a nice peaceful spa.

I forgot how small/​tight the space is and when you have 2 ppl waiting & 2 ppl sitting in the entry with their feet drying & 2 ppl getting a manicure, Ugh! So I’m getting my manicure and the technician is giving me a hand massage and is digging in to my outer bone on my palm so hard that it was uncomfortable. Assuming she knows what she is doing when giving a hand massage; now both of my hands are extremely sore/​bruised! She also wasn’t especially friendly. She did a decent job on my manicure but the topcoat was on my skin as I was able to notice when I arrived home. It was too dark there to notice and I had one of the last appointments of the night. Let’s see how long my manicure will last. From my experience when the top coat is painted onto your skin, it’s common that the manicure will peel early on. Overall not interested in returning!

They use only the best, and give you a calm treatment in a zen setting.
Not overcrowded, but its small. Appointments can be made same-​day but should be made a few hours in advance.
Only the best is used here, and super quick dry top coat will get you out and on with life.

I chose this place as a birthday treat for my sister and me. It was a nice enough time, but I have regrets.
We both had a regular mani and pedi with extra callus remover. Technicians were nice, polite, precise with applying the polish. Some weird things though — they did not ask up to pay before putting polish on our nails. We stayed extra long under the dryers — which you have to put on your lap?!!
«SPA» IS NOT AN ACCURATE TERM. I am ok with the fact that it is very small (only 2 pedi chairs and 2 mani stations) but it clearly needs a good dose of TLC. Wallpaper was badly peeling in several areas. Avoid having to use the restroom — literally a tiny broom closet with buckets and mops to maneuver around. Also, the area where you select your nail polish is not lit well enough. I thought I had chosen a dark grey — florescent subway lights proved it to be a dark blue.
Cost of 2 regular mani-​pedi with callus remover was $ 70+ and then add tip. I don’t think their price point is justified.

Attention, institut assez chic, venez ici pour un moment un peu luxueux et surtout pas pour une mani/​pedi rapide et bon marché.
L’esthétique de l’intérieur est soignée, à mille lieux des habituels salons new yorkais standardisés et efficaces. Ici, il a y une vraie recherché dans la décoration qui donne un côté japonais classe au salon. Bön du coup, on sacrifie les chaises massantes pendant la pédicure au profit de jolies chaises en bois (moins confort hein) ornées de coussins rouges. A la place de l’habituel mini lavabo blanc, vous déposez vos pieds dans une superbe vasque. Toutes ces jolies finasseries se retrouvent dans le prix, donc il faut être un peu superficielle comme je l’étais ce jour là ou vouloir se faire un petit plaisir — c’est sûr.
Le service et le soin sont à l’avenant du décor, un peu luxe. La pédicure «Breath of Milk and Honey» (soufflé de lait et de miel?) était très agréable, à la fois hydratante et énergique (donc efficace quand même pour les callosités). Vos mains et pieds passent tout à tour dans du lait mélangé à du miel et l’essence de votre choix (lavande, fruit rouge etc.) pour le parfum, un gommage au sucre, un crème hydratante… Il y a aussi un loooong massage sympa. La pose de vernis était impeccable, l’esthéticienne qui s’est occupée de moi était l’incarnation de la méticulosité (ouh que ce mot est moche — mais il existe), une application que j’avais rarement vue.
Du coup la prestation manucure ($ 28) + pédicure ($ 50) a duré 2heures au total. Ben oui, ça n’a pas été bâclé du tout, du tout.
La gamme des vernis est très étendue et inclut même les vernis Chanel, ce qui est aussi assez classe je trouve. Après, c’est peut-​être pas ceux qui tiennent le mieux, il faut bien l’avouer…
*Pensez à réserver car il n’y a que deux places de manucure et deux de pédicure.*

Jin Soon has been on my radar for awhile and I was excited when I finally convinced my friend to try the milk and honey manicure ($ 28). I recommend making an appointment since the salon is tiny (2 manicure chairs, massage area, a few pedicure stations), however, they were able to accommodate us the same day.
Good:
— the technicians were pleasant and took their time
— the lotions and scrubs they used were nice
— great selection of nail polishes (Chanel, Estee Lauder, their own brand, OPI and Essie)
Bad:
— My $ 28 manicure started chipping when I got home and after 2 days it has chipped so much that I need to remove it.

Its simple.
They have the best brands/​colors = Chanel/​Nars/​Essie and then some.
They are perfectionists.

Definitely on the high end of nail salons… $ 18 for a basic mani (Sakura charges $ 12 down the street and has the same ambiance but I don’t know if they are as thorough). 4 stars in attentiveness but 3 stars overall because it’s not really value oriented. Also, my mani/​pedi-​expert friend who went with me tells me that they should always give you a neck/​shoulder massage which they didn’t :(
However, these ladies are precise and thorough. Every detail and cuticle is looked after and the lotion massage is great. Ladies are professional and quietly friendly.
