Jeffrey Crespin, MD

I had a referral for Dr. Crespin from my primary doctor. When I got there, the staff was not friendly at all. I was given all these papers to fill out that were horrible photo copies. When I got to the 3^rd or 4^th page, it says that you MUST have a credit card. I told the person at the desk I did not have one. She said he can not see anyone without a credit card. I could not believe it. That is just crazy!!! I have NEVER heard of a doctor not seeing someone because they do not have a credit card. My insurance covers everything so this is just insane. I called around to other people that I know who are doctors & they said that is horrible & very suspicious. Will never use this office again!!!

No issues. I was treated at the West side facility. No issues. It was pleasant and painless.

I wish I could give Dr. Crespin and his office 0 stars. By far the worst experience. Dr. Crespin performed an endoscopy on me and I had to hound his office to receive my results for 2 months after my procedure. It was impossible to get him on the phone and his staff (when they answered) continuously told me that he would call me back the following day. Finally I received a very short voicemail from Dr. Crespin with very little information. DO NOT go here.

Dr. Crespin put me at serious risk for an appendix reputure. This could have caused serious, long-​term harm due to his error. I found Dr. Crespin through my insurance and I will never, ever just choose a provider without a solid recommendation again. After describing my symptoms, he instructed me to ingest an over the counter laxative, along with a prescription laxative which caused excrustating pain, not to mention, this could have easily caused my appendix to repture, according to a health care professional. I then went for a follow up appointment with Dr. Crespin in which I personally delivered him my CAT scan. After reviewing the CAT scan, he stated that he didn’t know what was wrong with me and that I should just fast to feel better. This man is a gastroenterologist and I provided him with the exact test results he needed to diagnosis me and he did not.
Frustrated, exhausted and in a great deal of pain, he left me with no help and could have actually caused me physical harm. Thankfully, a personal friend of mine reviewed my CAT scan results and determined I had appendicitis. That night I had EMERGENCY surgery and my appendix was removed. I seriously caution any patient to be seen by this doctor. He was completely unhelpful and his error put me at risk for more serious health problems.

As a physician myself, I went in to have some lab tests done for an ongoing GI issue. He was very eager to meet me halfway for getting the lab tests done sooner than later. He was easy going and I went to a office at the 57 and lex site that was clean and quite.

I found Dr. Crespin through Zocdocs and I found him to be thorough and efficient. I noticed other reviews mentioned the poor condition of his office and I can see that (which is why I didn’t give 5 stars). However, I have been to several of his locations and only one was a little rundown. But I do not expect a luxurious office and I actually do not prefer it. I look for excellent care, efficient use of time and great interpersonal skills, which is what I found in Dr. Crespin. I highly recommend him.

This was by far the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. I went to see Dr. Crespin last week to follow-​up on what may have been a reoccurrence of a previous GI infection. He not only was distracted my his intern but displayed any concern. I was barely examined & no solid plan was created to get to the bottom of my illness. Horrible bedside manner.
I went to get an X-​ray (as an option he left me with if I felt I needed it) Saturday. I never heard back Monday to learn of my results. Today I tried contacting him 3x. By the time I got him on the phone he was short, confusing and did not provide clear options. He rushed me off the phone and hung up to see another patient.-beware!

I was referred to Dr. Crespin by another doctor. He saw me once and didn’t do very much. He took notes on a laptop and I felt like he wasn’t really paying much attention. His office is the size of a closet. He didn’t do any tests. In fact, I had to go back to the doctor who referred me to Dr. Crespin to have any tests done. I got the results from them and Dr. Crespin didn’t review them with me. I felt like he could have attended to my questions and concerns a little more. I felt like he was making light of them. Also I didn’t like how the office phone is just a cell phone.

This is going to be a long one, but trust me, it’ll save you a hell of a lot of grief in the future if you actually read it!

and decided to schedule an appointment because he had great reviews and I was immediately relieved when I realized that his office is open on Saturdays. So far, so good…
…Until you get to the office. Now, I’m not usually one to judge the buildings in New York City because the «character» is all a part of living here, but this particular place was a little much. It’s run like a clinic in the middle of the ghetto – ridiculously small, dimly lit, and completely unorganized. The ONE patient room is so tight and cramped that there’s barely enough space for two people to sit comfortably, and everywhere you turn there are stacks of papers and medical records piling closer and closer to the ceiling. The receptionist was friendly enough, but clearly overwhelmed, as he is Dr. Crespin’s ONLY assistant. For someone who works out of 4 different offices, you would think he’d be able to hire at least one more person to help handle the work load. I was immediately turned off from the moment I walked in the door, but I tried to remain positive.
I sat in the lobby (if you can even call it that) for 35 minutes before waiting another 15 minutes in the patient room. When Dr. Crespin finally made it in there, we went over my symptoms and he quickly gave me a prescription while drawing up an order for the appropriate testing. He wasn’t personable or warm by any account, but he seemed knowledgable enough and I left feeling like a step had [sort of] been taken in the right direction.
Two weeks later, I decided to call the office myself to see if my test results were available (keeping in mind that they should have been given to me within 3 business days). I left a message (because of course, the receptionist is too busy to answer the phone during business hours) and I finally get a call back from Dr. Crespin the following morning. He leaves me a voice mail with the results and tells me that I need to make another appointment to discuss treatment options. Fair enough. I finally get the office on the line and am told that it’ll be another 2 weeks before they can fit me in, at which point I requested to speak with the doctor over the phone to discuss the management of my symptoms until I was able to get back to the office for my follow up. I was told that he’d return my call, but he never did. I called every day for at least 2 weeks and spoke with the receptionist on multiple occassions, begging him to have Dr. Crespin address my concerns, but I was completely igonored. At the end of the second week, he E-​MAILED me informing me that he refused to speak to me over the phone because it is a violation of HIPAA laws to discuss results with a patient unless they make an in-​person appointment. If that were the case, why was it acceptable for him to give me my results over the phone in the first place?
The e-​mail was the last straw. I never went back to Dr. Crespin and had all of my results transferred to another doctor, only to find out that I needed surgery immediately due to the nature of my condition.
If I had the authority, I would revoke Dr. Crespin’s license immediately, as he is completely unfit for this profession and in my opinion, a danger to his patients.

I can’t recommend Dr. Crespin, unfortunately.
The office is run like a «mom and pop» style clinic, very cheaply in a small shoddy building. I don’t think there are any nurses. The staff consists of just one doctor with a few phone operators.
A quick chat might cost your insurance company half a thousand dollars. Dr. Jeffrey Crespin himself appears friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. Unlike doctors that are part of medical groups however, Dr. Crespin operates as an individual businessman and so he has a motive to maximize profits and cut costs. So expect to be overcharged everywhere. And sometimes, these cost-​cutting methods compromise quality of patient-​care.
In all, I wouldn’t say he’s horrible, but rather he’s an average doctor who doesn’t seem to care much about patients, has a motive to overcharge and cut costs, and consistently delivered below my expectations.

Dr Crespin is good. He seems knowledgable. What I liked about him is that he takes your time serious. I came at appointed time and he said receptionist to deal with insurance cards etc while he consulted me.
You have to interrogate him to get more information but he would tell you all if you ask. Otherwise, I don’t see him take an initiative explaining stuff you don’t know about.
i can totally see how Ryan could’ve been annoyed at him. :-) He makes conclusions very quick. He found bacteria in my stomach and since I am from Eastern Europe, he thought that’s where I got it (he might have assumed that water there is not very clean) LOL. He also couldn’t spell my country correctly.
And okay, he might be ignorant that way, but it doesn’t seem to affect his job. He still is a professional and takes you seriously.

I found Dr. Crespin through my insurance directory and chose him based on how close his office was to mine and the positive reviews I saw on here. So I want to balance them out with a negative review based on a pretty awful interaction.
After Dr. Crespin developed a course of treatment for my GI trouble that was appropriate to a gastroenterologist I mentioned that my partner had the same trouble. Out of nowhere he suggested that perhaps I have AIDS (I do not) and didn’t ask me about any behavior that would suggest I have AIDS. My symptoms didn’t even indicate AIDS or HIV infection. I expect a lot more than knee-​jerk homophobia in 2011.
As for the treatment he prescribed that was appropriate to his specialty, it was not effective. I went to another doctor — one who wasn’t even a GI specialist — who told me to stop eating dairy because lactose intolerance develops after GI infections. So instead of taking more medication or getting more tests, I just changed my eating. And I feel much better.

I went to see Dr. Crespin for specialty services (he is a gastroenterologist). I found him to be very professional and knowledgable in his field.
Would have preferred some follow-​up and response to an email (but was not sure if it went through since his website at the time might have been having some difficulty).
In any case, I appreciated his bedside manner and would recommend him to someone looking for a specialist in the field.
