Jeffrey A Buckner, MD

I love Dr. Buckner. Yes, his office may not be perfect, but in my eyes he is. I was his patient when I lived in New York, and I just googled his name to get a phone number, to call and ask a question.
He has helped me tremendously, he has changed the way I look at life. I was going through a very difficult grieving process. I had a hard time getting through my daily routine, it was affecting my work, and personal life. I will never forget that day I saw him, he took my hand, sat me at his desk, and he talked to me, the way a father would talk to his daughter. Those words were my medicine, I have passed his message many times to friends and those who suffered from grieve, divorce, loneliness. I will be forever grateful to dr Buckner.

i just stumbled across Dr. Buckner’s page here on Unilocal — and for whatever reason — he has only three reviews, and with one star each. And that’s just wrong.
so for the sake of the Unilocal community, for new yorkers, etc. — let me just say — he is great. Yes, the three people here have had bad experiences. You could too.
but if you pop over to ZocDoc, where people book appointments for him, he has a 4.7 rating across 1377 reviews. that is pretty friggin spectacular.
i’ve seen him for the last few years, while i’ve lived in nyc, and he has provided excellent/​consistent care for a WIDE variety of ailments.
no doctor is perfect. they shouldn’t be. but Dr. Buckner takes a wide range of insurance, lends a thoughtful/​critical eye to the care he provides, and is extremely accessible to his patients.

A capable, caring and considerate doctor — the three C’s! Can’t imagine going anywhere else when Dr. Jeff is as lovely and thoughtful as he is. The dentist across the way is good too. I know a few people who’ve been going to him for years and I certainly see why.

Unreliable doctor who cannot be counted on to return phone calls, will definitely ignore everything put in through his electronic system, and sloppy in numerous regards.
A nice enough person, but really just seems like someone who is coasting until retirement.
Better to find a doctor who truly cares about their patients — they are out there!

I realize that most of Dr. Buckner’s patients (current/​future) are unlikely to look at Unilocal prior to going but if they do, hopefully I can save them some time and maybe some pain. I have never received such poor healthcare service from a doctor in my life. This most recent visit was the last straw and I will be switching physicians.
Got sick with bad flu-​like symptoms over the weekend and upon maintaining a fever I promptly made an online appointment for Monday. There were several openings and I made one for the afternoon. When I arrived there were 4 – 5 people and front of me (so the online make an appointment is clearly not realistic unless 4 people made appointments in a 4-​hour window) and two people who came in that were seen before me, one of which was a patient that he had screwed up his prescription and one was a man he admitted had an appointment after mine. So an hour late I am called into his office where he tells me that he cant access my files because his computer is not working. Skipping forward he listens to my symptoms and says that he feels like he should take blood. Fine no problem except that the results, which I have to request by email because a verbal request is no good (I have requested test results via email before with Dr. Buckner and had them promptly ignored by him until well after the results should be out only to have to go through his receptionist to finally get them) will not be ready until probably Thursday. In the mean time he writes a script that he says i shouldn’t fill until he has the results of the test. He tells me that i should continue with Advil and water and rest. I did tell him that I took the Subway to his office and felt like i might pass out at point. Apparently this is not severe to warrant a more immediate course of action then keep doing what you’re doing. To his credit he was nice enough to write me a note dismissing me from jury duty for legitimately being sick (that’s the one star i gave him)
The next day, my conditions worsen with what I think may be strep throat and I try to reach Dr. Buckner to explain and hopefully get a course of action. I am told that he is out of the office but the receptionist, who does not deserve any of the blame as they have always been kind, efficient, and professional. I tried calling back 4 times, he was out of the office 3 times and on the 4^th I’m told he was busy with patients. I have made it clear that it is getting urgent and my discomfort is growing. No call back more than 5 hours later. Like I said, I’ll switch to a Doctor who understands good patient care.
As a last note this is my first Unilocal review. I do not make it a habit of being critical if its not warranted. My honest opinion is that if you value your health and good patient care then Dr. Buckner is not your man.

Dr. Buckner has been my physician for over 4 years. He is an extremely intelligent doctor and he takes his time when discussing my health and any issue that are involved. In addition I have been happy with all the referrals he has made and I highly recommend him!

Awful experience — went for the first time, he barely examined me and gave me three prescriptions. One of the three was helpful. I got semi-​better, than incredibly sick again, and went back to him, which was my mistake. He didn’t even look at my chart, literally listened to me breathe and checked my pulse as an examination and threw 3 more prescriptions my way. I was so frustrated I went to another doctor, one recommended by a friend, who diagnosed me with a sinus infection, took me off the antibiotics he gave me (she was very confused why they would be prescribed) and gave me new antibiotics. I already feel better and will not go there again. Plus the office is dirty and smells of ramen.
