The serene architectural design, which is complimented by an optimal usage of natural light and space, allows healing to take place in a welcoming, soothing atmosphere.
The seasoned staff at James Fowler Physical Therapy offers patients two complimentary components of treatments: Orthopedic Rehabilitation and Movement Rehabilitation. Through a personalized program of «re-education», patients will gain a new relationship to their bodies that encourages physical awareness and helps prevent further injuries. We have realized that a well-educated patient is more likely to recover faster and with better results.
History
Established in 2002.
After years of professional experience as a physical therapist, James Fowler and his wife Judy, a certified movement analyst, opened their family practice in Union Square, which artfully blends together the physical therapy and movement disciplines. On October 4, 2002, James Fowler officially established a home for his growing private practice in an enthralling 3,000 square foot loft in the heart of Manhattan, Union Square, designed by renowned architect Daryl Wugalter. Since their official opening, James Fowler Physical Therapy has established an exceptional reputation in the New York City area through their commitment to individual attention and customized treatment.
Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner
With over 20 years of experience in Sports Medicine and Movement Science, James Fowler has been owner of his own practice since 2001. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education. In 1994, after coming to New York, he earned a degree in Physical Therapy from the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University. He is certified in Active Release Techniques and has advanced training and hands-on experience in Spinal Manipulation and Myofascial Release Techniques. He is a certified Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
