History

Established in 1926.

Established in 1926 J. Pocker & Son has spent over 80 years developing a superior reputation for good taste, product knowledge and customer service in picture framing and decorative prints. We are a third-​generation, family-​owned business. We strive to make relationships with our clients the focus of our business.

1926: With the encouragement of the designer Ruby Ross Wood, Jack Pocker leaves his employer of 12 years and opens his own frame shop. Jack and Bessie Pocker go into business at 790 Lexington Ave. Family records say that everything they owned went into opening the store. Living the great American Dream begins for the Pocker family.

1936: In 1936 J Pocker was named in the book A Shopping Guide to New York by Gretta Palmer. The artical read, «A strong minded gentlemen who will not let any one ruin a good painting or print by rococo frame. Twenty-​four-​hour work that is admired by real, live artists. «

J Pocker now has 5 locations including one to the designer trade.

Meet the Manager

Rebecca V.

Manager

Rebecca received her MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She has over 10 years experience working within the design community as an art consultant, framing designer, educator and artist. Rebecca is passionate about unique works from all genres and also has an affinity for color and period design. As a framing designer, she is dedicated to making sure the essential nature of the work is realized through it’s framing.
