Ink Spa

I came to ink spa with a corporate discount eligible for a free 25 minute massage and 50% off massages and facials for a year. I came right before the deal expired about 2 years ago so I was only to take advantage of the free 25 minute massage. I came on a Sunday afternoon and was the only customer at the spa which was great because I had the whole place to myself. I forgot my masseur’s name but she was wonderful. She gave me a robe and tea and showed me around the spa. The massage was one of the best massages I’ve ever gotten and I get massages every 2 – 3 months. Too bad it was so short! I had removed my necklace for the massage and it got all tangled up and she offered to help me fix it. She went above and beyond which shows she cared about her customers. If only I can afford coming here every month!

I went there becose it’s in good hotel and good place, that you can enjoy after massage. But massage that I had there was really-​really bad. You can’t feel it like massage. Money for nothing ((

went here this past weekend on via a Groupon deal. i actually came across Ink Spa while looking for a nice spa day for my man friend and I, and liked the idea that it was at a nice hotel with a ‘swanky’ ambiance — it was his first time at a spa, so it needed to be a big deal.
overall the atmosphere in the hotel overall is pleasant & surprisingly quiet/​tranquil for a sunday in NYC — that was refreshing. once we got upstairs to the spa both Margaret & Samantha were extremely well mannered and eager to help.
Margaret (masseuse) gave me a hot stone massage, and was so sweet and accommodating. I recently was burned in a small kitchen fire and had some areas I wasn’t comfortable having the hot stones placed — not only did she understand, but she even went above and beyond by taking time to rub essential lavender oils into my scars. it was such a nice feeling to be pampered, as i think some people would have shied away from touching those areas. My guy completely fell asleep during his ‘Ink Signature’ massage, so it must have been good.
Samantha (esthetician) gave us each a 50 minute facial and was just as accommodating. you can tell she’s very knowledgable in her field and took the time to make simple suggestions throughout the facial, without trying to sell you items within the spa (which is a big deal for me because I feel like a lot of places *cough cough BLISS cough* do this and it’s hella annoying while you’re trying to relax).
***1 star deduction due to the following minor issues***
— we weren’t able to use the ’16 head shower room’ post treatments because the staff had other appointments at a different location and needed to lock up (a little bummed, but not the worst thing ever)
— the locker room is sub par. it’s really a shame because the whole hotel is quite beautiful and there’s lots of attention to detail there, but it seems like the locker room was forgotten in the design process. it’s really just a storage closet with some lockers, a small small vanity, and a coat rack for robes. i may have been spoiled in the past, but even with that small space I think they can do a bit better. Obviously this is no reflection on the amazing staff though.
–the tipping situation after. ugh, I’m always so distraught by this. sooo we basically paid $ 350 for the experience via Groupon, then when the bill came the ‘actual retail value’ was something like $ 670. well, then they had outlined «suggested tipping» based on the retail price, so we’re talking like $ 120-​$ 160 as a tip, when we only paid $ 350 for the whole thing originally. I know a lot of people think it’s common courtesy to tip on the retail value, but in a situation like this … thats a lot! I usually do somewhere in the ‘grey area’ between discounted & retail … 20% of the price I paid would have been about $ 70, whereas 20% of retail was about $ 130. so ultimately I gave $ 100. which still sounds like a nice tip to me, hopefully they thought so too. :/​

I really had an awful experience with this place. I took my boyfriend here with the groupon deal on his birthday. It was a Tuesday afternoon. Granted I was late for my appointment, I called in advance and was told that there was nothing they could do because they were booked. When I arrived the place was absolutely empty no one had came in or out and we lingered for a bit and they didn’t have another appointment my boyfriend said she did an awful job and I should have saved my money. In the end I left 20 dollars she pointed out that I must make sure to tip on the full amount. I did her a favor by leaving that 20 I was tipping on the service I think 10 percent was plenty. I will not be visiting this place ever again. Save your money!

I got a groupon deal and always wanted to try this place out. The hotel is quite swanky and have tons of European tourists. I got a 50 min massage and a 25 min body scrub both which were amazing. I had a really great time while I was there. And I would definitely go back as long as I have the groupon deal.

Bought a Bloomspot deal. Massage-​MEH! They forgot it was a 90 minute versus a 60 minute and by the time I noticed I was already changed into my clothing. They did not offer any discount, or any other amenities for their mistake. Oh well, thanks for the deal Bloomspot.

Had a tremendously stressful, difficult week, felt/​looked awful, decided to go for a 50 minute massage at InkSpa — I walked out feeling and looking completely transformed. Details: beautiful robes, soft, lovely music, my masseuse’s name was Sarah — she found all the kinks and made them feel all better… Can’t wait to go back…

I never knew this hotel existed just 10 blocks from my UWS apartment until I found a last-​minute deal for the Ink Spa. Ink48 is a hip Kimpton hotel all done in (what else?) dark inky colors. Everything inside is dark chocolate brown, which makes it difficult to find your way to the elevator and the 2^nd floor spa when you come in out of the bright sunlight. The Ink Spa is a small but lovely space wrapped around an outdoor deck with a zen rock type arrangement. There are a couple of rooms — one overlooks the deck and the other has two massage tables for a couples massage experience. My massage was customized to take care of my most achy tense areas; the masseuse (sorry — can’t remember her name but she was terrific) did a wonderful job and I felt looser and more relaxed afterwards. A bonus was a fabulous multi-​head steam shower in the massage room; it was bigger than my entire apartment bathroom and a luxurious treat afterwards. One star off since the changing room was just lockers and a small vanity with tiny mirror — not enough amenities or space if you need to get yourself beautiful for something else afterwards. But perhaps it is just geared to hotel guests who can go back to their rooms…
