Specialties
We are inspired by simple, authentic food made with an uncompromising ethic and the joy of sharing it with friends. il Buco Alimentari and Vineria, a natural extension of il Buco Restaurant — a NoHo favorite for more than 18 years — offers house-made products crafted using traditional methods, as well as artisan provisions handpicked from independent producers we admire.
Come sample the fruits of our production with us in our casual dining room, or to take a taste of il Buco home to your friends and loved ones from our Italian market.
History
Established in 2011.
The first offspring of il Buco on Bond Street, the Alimentari & Vineria is as much a production outpost of the original — specializing in house-cured meats and home baked breads — as it is a casual dining experience in its own right. Here at the original site of the Great Jones Lumber Supply, Donna Lennard set out to fulfill a dream of the last 18 years.
Meet the Business Owner
Donna L.
Business Owner
In 1994 she and Alberto, created il Buco at first a rustic antique store. Il Buco catered to the tastes of the artists living in the area who quickly discovered that Donna and Alberto not only had an eye for beautiful antiques but a refined taste for delicious food and wine. The store soon became a neighborhood hangout as locals and customers joined Donna and Alberto during their afternoon Italian-style lunches. As the clientele grew, they decided to serve Spanish and Italian style tapas and a selection of artisan wines. The concept took off quickly since the ambience — a joint vision between Alberto’s Italian roots and Donna’s past life as an independent filmmaker — made people feel at once «at home,» transported beyond the confines of the City. It didn’t take long before the store transformed into full blown restaurant.
Donna’s underlying vision and philosophy — that the best food is comprised of high-quality ingredients simply prepared has kept il Buco going for 22 years.
