Ideal Cheese was started in 1954 as a butter and egg business in New York City.
It has since evolved into a gourmet cheese and specialty products store, which has a retail shop in midtown on the east side of Manhattan, provides wholesale cheese to restaurant and hotels all over the country and ships via the internet to customers all over the United States.
We have maintained our «small — mom and pop» image while keeping up with today’s technology.
Our cheese selection is over 250 cheeses from 17 countries.
History
Established in 1954.
The business started in 1954 as a butter and egg store. Through the years it changed to gourmet cheese, fancy meats and gourmet products. In 2003, «The Binetti Family» purchased the business from Ed Edelman and continued with his business model and added gourmet imported and domestic beers as well as many more cheeses and gourmet products. Julius Binetti and his son Michael are the principal owners of the store and Michael runs the day to day operation.

Business Owner
Julius served in the US Air Force from 1966 — 1970. He worked in the courier business from 1970 to 1980 when he became a partner in another courier company. Julius became a founder of a public courier company along with four other people in 1994 — 1997. In 2003, Julius, Michael and his wife Angela purchased Ideal Cheese Shop in NYC. In 2006 he formed American Direct Logistics along with his partner Gavin Pelling which is currently a profitable entity. In 2012 he opened Ideal Cheese Shop in Huntington, NY and then moved it to a larger store offering more products and is now known as Ideal Cheese & Wine Café in Huntington.
