I’m a huge sushi fan and this place is awesome! I started out with the Nabeyaki Udon. I didn’t like that the shrimp tempura was put inside, rather than on a plate on the side, or that the egg was super boiled on top. The ratio of noodles to broth is a bit skewed to the noodles side, but that is a matter of preference(I prefer more broth). I also had ika, ikura with quail egg, unagi etc. Ala carte sushi as desired! I love it when restaurants have o-toro and chu-toro and they did! The table shared soft shell crab, rolls and other goods! Their sake options are also great. All in all, great to come here!

Solid Japanese sushi eatery with pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. The chefs are no nonsense, and food in my opinion is above average for similar mid range sushi places.

Great NY sushi at an affordable price. Happy Hour 4 – 7 with $ 3 beer specials and discounted rolls and apps. Miso soup, Kani Salad and the Tiger Roll were all excellent. Would come again!

By far my favorite sushi restaurant on the UES! Everything tastes fresh and I haven’t had a complaint yet.

Good lunch special deal ! I particularly liked the steamed dumplings I took in addition to a two roll lunch special. Good deal ! The restaurant is nice. To conclude, it is a fairly good neighbourhood sushi spot.

Had Ichiro twice in a row for delivery– that’s how good it was. Today, I ordered the lunch special, which came with 3 rolls, miso soup, and salad, all for $ 11.95. Large chunks of fresh fish in the rolls, and the delivery came in less than 20 minutes! Yesterday I ordered the yuna avocado roll and sweet potato rolls, which is what got me craving for more fish today… however, as it was a Sunday night, delivery took a pretty long time(maybe an hour or so?). I want to come dine in person now, if the quality of fish can get even BETTER in person!

Very good sushi on the UES! A gem. I recently ate here for lunch. We ordered the eel and Ichiro sushi specials. $ 12 each. Both came with salad and miso soup. The miso was spot on and the salad good. I love eel and was very impressed by the quality of my dish. The sushi was also very fresh. Service was prompt and friendly. Drinks were reasonable = $ 8 for a large bottle of Sapporo. I found my go-to sushi on the UES and it is Ichiro!!!

Service is prompt and fast. Food was good, no frills, ordinary Chinese-owned Jap restaurant. What this place lacks, is ambience and poor lighting. We were here for lunch yet the place was so badly lit, for once we felt like a dug-out. I would come back if I were in the neighborhood as they have good service.

My first time here for dinner! Well, service was good and everything. We started eating our sushi rolls. Right on the last piece, I SAW A LONGHAIRINIT!!! wow, I think the sushi chef needs to cut his/her hair. Or do something about it. Keep your eyes open! Because the lights here are dimmed, so you can barely see. They tried to buy us with some pineapple chunks… They even offered a roll replacement, at the end they ended up taking off the roll that had the hair from the check. Never coming back! Hope you don’t make the same mistake and come here! Stay away! 10/31/2015 @ 10:50PM

Based off the previous reviews and pictures, I was excited to try this place. I ordered sushi for delivery and although the delivery man got lost, the food came on time. The reason this review is a 1 star is because I have never seen sushi that looked so bad and was made with such lack of care. It also tasted bad. I got a spicy salmon roll and it looks like some Sort of paste that was rolled in rice and seaweed. I never thought I would leave a Unilocal review but this was so bad I had no choice. Perhaps it was because it was delivery and not in the restaurant or maybe I just got unlucky. But I will definitely not order delivery from this place again.

This is kind of a neighborhood spot you go for Americanized rolls and Americanized Japanese food and not actual sushi. If you are a fan of the rolls, by all means, this place would work well for you. It seems like they do well to serve the local clientele and I could see it being busy at night. But this is not a Japanese owned and operated establishment, so the expectation should be adjusted. The food: Hamachi Kama– It’s a yellowtail collar and it was respectable. Fish collar is something that everyone should try since the meat is so unctuous and juicy. The version here was pretty decent.
Ichiro sushi lunch– 2 pcs tuna, 2 pcs salmon, 2 pcs yellowtail &1 California roll. I eat a lot of sushi as in nigiri and sashimi and my expectation for sushi is a lot higher than the reg person. The quality of the fish was OK, the slices were on the small side and the rice was just so so. Overall, it’s good for a sushi noob.

Review for lunch delivery: ordered through Seamless and delivery was prompt. However, I was really grossed out when the delivery man handed me my food because his hands were just soooo dirty and had loads of black sh*t underneath his nails. Yeah I get it, he doesn’t make my food(I hope) but it’s just so gross. The lunch special came with a salad that wasn’t even worth eating and the soup was just ok… I liked the fact that the rolls didn’t have too much rice. However, I just could NOT eat the spicy tuna roll. It was super fishy, obviously made with not so fresh tuna. I’ve had their spicy tuna at dinner time before — as naruto roll(wrapped in cucumber) and I enjoyed it. Only thing that was edible was the california roll… never ordering for lunch again(stick with Amura/Greenbay in this area)

2 words. Avocado salad. Its the best, never fails. Has the best dressing, large portion for a starter salad and always hits the spot. The sushi here is good, though not my neighborhood favorite, its a close second for me. The perfect couple roll is good, fish is pretty fresh and consistent. I also like to have some of those gummy candies when I leave, they are addicting! Everyone here is so nice, service is spot on, hot tea is included(which is scarce now-a-days) and their mochi is really great! Would recommend!

I often go to Shoga, the sushi place 2 doors down from Ichiro. So one day I said, let’s try the other sushi place on the same block, and I’m glad I did. Such fresh fish! And wow, the variety of special rolls is great. The perfect couples roll was great, not too spicy, and the combination of flavors was good. Though they are a big heavy on the sauce here, everything else was perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

Excellent experience ordering take-out from Ichiro the other day. I didn’t dine-in, so I can’t really speak to the in-restaurant experience, but I enjoyed the food enough that I’m inclined to come back! I called and placed a take-out order for a California roll and a shrimp tempura roll at around 7:30pm. Super quick and easy, though the person on the other end didn’t ask for my name(only my phone number) and didn’t give me an estimate for how long it would take, and for whatever reason I blanked out and forgot to ask. No matter, I would swing by the restaurant after ten minutes and see how things were coming along. I live less than 2 blocks away, so I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal. Sure enough, when I arrived ten odd minutes later, the food was ready for pickup. The two sushi rolls together came to about $ 13 with tax — not dirt cheap, but pretty on par with most sushi places I’ve been to. The two ladies at the counter were very friendly and helpful(can’t really speak to service otherwise since I didn’t dine in), and I was in and out of there in a few minutes. The actual food was delicious — really loved both of the sushi rolls, and I can tell Ichiro is going to be a regular destination when I want to order take-out. One thing that often peeves me about sushi places is that they put too much rice in the rolls(it’s a common tactic especially at all-you-can-eat restaurants, where they’re trying to fill you up as quickly as possible on the cheap stuff so you don’t eat them out of house and home on the more expensive seafood ingredients). Ichiro’s sushi rolls actually almost erred on the side of too little rice, but this was vastly preferable to having too much, since the filling shines through. The small trade-off is that they’re not as filling as a result, but I can deal with that. I’ll be back.

Was in the neighborhood and my friend was craving for some Salmon Teriyaki. After Unilocaling for a sushi spot, we decided to drop by Ichiro for lunch. We thought this place was a nice, clean sushi spot; the staff were very polite as well. We got hungry and the two of us ordered: Thai Mango with Shrimp, Salmon Teriyaki and Chirashi. The Salmon Teriyaki and Chirashi were pretty good. The Thai Mango was something new to my taste bud(an acquired taste, I guess), but after a few bites it was somewhat tasty. Lunch special was very budget friendly — you can’t go wrong with that.

Do yourself a favor and order the hamachi kama($ 12 per). Or rather, do me a favor and DON’T order the hamachi kama so that I can have more of it to myself! It isn’t on the menu, but if you are as big a fan of flakey, buttery, broiled yellowtail collarbone as I am, you will thank me for this tip! There is. or was only one other place in Manhattan that serves up yellowtail collarbone like they do here, and that place has since closed. The dinner bento box is a pretty good deal. The entrée comes with a side of salad and miso soup, along with shumai, california rolls, and lightly salted edamame. They are very flexible about switching out the salad/soups if you’d prefer two soups or two salads instead of one of each. We also ordered the ‘Out of Control’ roll, which was sooo delicious. I haven’t had fish that fresh(not even the sashimi-grade fish from the local Asian supermarket) in a really long time, so it was quite a treat for me! The feeling of the fish just melting on my tongue… yum! :9 The service is also really fantastic. We were constantly rounded upon, but not in an overbearing manner. Also, they gave us a complementary seafood salad at the end of the meal, which was a really nice surprise. FREEFOODISTHEBESTFOOD! Every table gets a small fruit plate at the end of their meal as well, which was a nice way to cleanse our palates after a very, very satisfying meal! It is obvious that the Ichiro staff works hard to cater to their customers, and that really makes this little Japanese restaurant shine!

*** Great atmosphere, Excellent Service, Lots of selection *** I came here last night with a friend. The service was great and our waitress was very accommodating. I ordered a dinner bento box that was very filling; it came with soup and salad. Afterwards, we were served complimentary orange and pineapple slices. I would definitely come back here again.

This was, by far, the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’m extremely picky about what I eat. I brought my partner here for dinner after conducting a search based on reviews from Unilocal. To be exact, I had the«Sex on the Beach» roll. It contained shrimp tempura, salmon, eel sauce, avocado, tuna and some other stuff.(excuse me but I was busy stuffing my face).Oh! and seaweed salad — my absolute favorite, which I ordered on the side. Unfortunately, this gem is amongst other restaurants that are affected by the 2nd Ave Subway construction, so it’s a little hard to find. Otherwise, great food and even greater prices!
