Shopping with two preschoolers to get shoes is painful. At Ibiza Kidz there are bins full of toys for customers’ kids to take out and play with. Staff were attentive but not pushy. I walked out with two Rainstep boots for my daughter at great discount thanks to an attentive staff, and am going back with my son for his. We’ll definitely be a regular here.

I have been a customer of Ibiza Kidz and such a fan of this store for several years, buying one or two pairs of shoes for my now 6 year old, each season. I kept going back for the great selection of high quality brands, friendly sales staff, and overall relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience, even though the shoes are pricey. We bought some shoes recently that did not hold up. We brought my daughter in for some new spring sneakers and left with some purple Geox ones that we thought we would be happy with, but ended up being defective– or just a bad material. Turns out the sole was made out of this super soft foam that did not stand up to just normal kids wear– in our case walking 3 blocks to school, and playing on the playground. After just a couple days of normal wear the sole was shredding and wearing down. We learn later that the sole was made out of a new material to make a super light weight shoe. This wasn’t used as a selling point– I never even looked closely at the sole when we bought them– assuming it was a hard rubber like most sneaker soles. I was so surprised to realize it was a soft foam! Like flip flop foam. We went in the following Saturday in the hopes of exchanging them. We were informed the owner is not there and is the only one who can help, so the sales staff sends her picture of them, trying to help us out. We live in Brooklyn and are going on vacation the following week so we really wanted to leave with shoes my daughter could wear– that would not fall apart. The manager is there, but tells us she can’t issue us an exchange since the owner has to call Geox first, a baffling statement. We bought from Ibiza Kidz, not Geox. Don’t they stand behind the product too? The manager gets the owner on the phone, and she spends 20 minutes telling us she has to see them (even though her sales staff texted her a picture) and that she can’t help us. She tells us to «buy another pair and leave our shoes there, and on Monday, when she is in and can see the shoes, she will let us know if we are issued a refund or not.“I have never had a store suggest I spend double the money in the hope that they decide to issue me a refund. The owner lectured us on the phone, going on and on about how awesome her relationship with her venders are, and that if they decide to take them back, we will get our money back. What does her vender relationship have to do with our sale and how the shoes fell apart in 3 days? What about her standing behind the sale and trying to please her customers? She didn’t seem to care about keeping us as customers. Also, why have a manager on staff and be open 7 days a week, if the manager doesn’t have the authority to be the owners eyes and ears and handle situations like this when the owner is not there? The manager and the sales staff seemed like their hands were tied. On Monday, I spent 10 minutes on the phone with the owner again, with her lecturing me on the return policy, and she acted surprised we didn’t buy new shoes on Saturday. I said ««Why would we buy new shoes when you hadn’t let us know if you would give us a refund on the defective ones?» She was defensive and acted like it was reasonable to ask us to spend double the money-​stating that she had said she would «90% give us a refund.» We left the shoes in the store since the other solution was us to bring them in on Monday, which didn’t work for us since we live in Brooklyn and it is a 40 minute train ride to Union Sq. So we opted to leave them there, and to NOT buy any new ones from Ibiza Kids.
All we wanted were shoes my daughter could comfortably wear and that didn’t fall apart, I would have been so happy with an exchange on Saturday for some better made shoes– instead we ended up getting a full refund and we are shopping elsewhere. She did issue the full refund on Monday, stating that Geox was taking them back. By all means I recommend shopping there, as long as you don’t have any issues or problems with your shoes! Don’t expect them to stand behind the product they sale if there is an issue without calling the manufacturer first! She lost a huge fan, and I won’t be back.

Genius store. Excellent, patient service. Prices are high and they do try to «sell» you lots of things when you visit. But, it’s worth it– your kids will love it there, you’ll find exactly what you want. For kids’ shoes, there is no better store in lower or midtown Manhattan. And they have a shoe club! Worth every penny, AND busfare/​taxifare to get there.

I walked in here on a whim and I am glad I did. I ended up buying a skirt for my friend’s daughter and a cute pajama set for my future baby. The staff was friendly but the owner (manager?) is the true salesperson. If it weren’t for her I might have walked out with nothing. Also, when I said the skirt was a birthday present she wrapped it SO nicely for me. And the wrapping was free! This place is great for interesting baby and kid clothes as well as toys, shoes and other accessories. Check it out if you’re walking around Union Square!

Excellent service! My son is just starting to walk and is between sizes… I feel like we tried on every navy blue sandal they had! But the salesperson never lost her patience, and she was so sweet with my son. Sure, the shoes are expensive, but the service is so wonderful that it is totally worth it. We will definitely be back.

Yes, one does get sticker shock sometimes here. But, I have never experienced a friendlier and more helpful staff for kids stuff here in NYC, especially for shoes. The store has a friendly kids visiting policy; if you happen to have to bring a child in for a fitting or just to look at some clothes with you, there are store toys to keep the kid occupied and interested in between browsing. The seasonal shoe sales give steep discounts, and that offsets the original high sticker price. I sometimes buy in the shop rather than up to 30% cheaper online elsewhere because some things (like how shoes fit, or if not, returns, and also gifts) are better determined/​handled in a brick and mortar store. Plus, there is more time saved browsing through a well curated real store than through hundreds of pictures at different angles of products of the same category online. People seldom admit to this, but I will– the big black hole in my time every time I try to «save time» shopping by doing it online, only to be confronted by too many choices and variations of quality v. pricing based on reading reviews and eyeballing the 1 – 2 pictures provided for each, is ridiculous. In a store with a good selection, merely picking up something and feeling it would give me a yes/​no answer to buy in a few moments. This is not to say I don’t buy online; I just feel that people should support an excellent store with great service and convenience for certain occasions, when the pocketbook allows for it. Seriously, there are only maybe ⁵⁄₆ non-​chain independent children’s clothing/​toy stores serving the downtown area between 23^rd and Houston St., probably because of the high cost of rent. Manhattan parents– do we want all the good stores to move away?

Service was good, but if they sniff more money from someone else, you can be left waiting a bit. But they have good selection of great quality shoes.

Basically this is the only kids store I go to in my neighborhood. All of my friends have children, and no matter when I walk in, I always find the cutest clothes ever. I know my friends kids will be the best dressed in their Splendid or Ella Moss outfits. If your in the neighborhood definitely check out the store.

Their assortment of headbands and hair clips are adorable! Especially LOVE the Erika Rae hair accessories perfectly glittery and girly… I couldn’t resist them while checking out at the front register… had to grab some for my girls! and they went WILD over them too :)

Next time I will bring my girls in … it’s a girly girls dream :)

Lets start with the negative — It’s very very very expensive. Clothes are pricey, shoes are pricey and toys are pricey.
With that out of the way, if you have kids, live in the neighborhood, and/​or frequently need presents for your friends kids or relatives, then you will come here a lot.
Initially, like a couple of the early reviewers, I was put off by the high prices. Yes, t-​shirts are $ 20-​$ 40, which strikes me as kind of crazy for a baby or toddler. But, there are many reasons to come here.
First, they have super nice items. If I am getting a gift for a friend’s kid’s birthday, then I come here and not Babies R Us. They have high quality items that your friends will appreciate and that people don’t typically splurge on for themselves (and you can tell the difference in the quality). And they gift wrap them very nicely.
Second, there are usually numerous helpful sales staff members who are very knowledgeable about the merchandise. If you were like me and know nothing about what shoes are good for your kid and how to get a good fit when they started walking, then this was the best place to come. Sure you can come here and try on some shoes, find the right fit, and then order it from Amazon and save a few bucks, but really it’s not worth the savings. The mark up is not that much (these are high end shoes).
Third, the kids love it here. There are so many toys to play with — it’s like a giant nursery. The whole store is spacious and carpeted and uncrowded, so your little ones can sit and play (or run around play, as the case may be). I have on multiple occasions came here to give my kid a nice place to play because the weather was bad and couldn’t think of other places to go (a common problem for NYC parents). They don’t pressure you to buy anything.
Fourth, it is a great place to test out different toys and baby gear to see if your kid likes them. Walkers, toy strollers, trucks — it’s a great place to test it out and buy only what your kid likes rather than buying stuff that he/​she won’t use.
Finally, if you are savvy, you actually can find some deals. They sometimes have decent sales and bargain bins where you can find some nice stuff.

In a sentance, way over priced. I bought a stuffed animal for my daughter from this store, 32 bucks. Checked on the manufactures website 15bucks. On amazon, 7.95. I wanted to buy her a dress, I couldnt find one for less than $ 50. I’m not a shopoholic, I dont go shopping so I feel good or that you have friendly store staff. I love a great deal and folks, in here you seldom find one. Lastly but not leastly, like to add that I used GROUPON NOW and thot I was saving $ 20, instead I ending up spending an additional $ 35 Gave it 2 stars only because they had some stuff on sale for smart shoppers.

This store has great toys that are interesting so it feels like you’re getting something special here. They also carry fun and comfortable clothes that are cool and a great selection of shoes. Many of their clothes are organic and items can be pricey, but it’s hard to resist buying something. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful in making recommendations.
The new location on Broadway is bigger than the old place on 4^th Ave. This is my go-​to place when I’m shopping for a gift for my niece.

Reservations required?
After browsing for about 10 minutes with only one other customer in the store, I asked a member of the store’s sales staff to see a few pairs of shoes. She told me that I had not come in early enough for a shoe fitting, and it was a store policy that shoe fittings were done only prior to 6pm. She offered to tell me about the shoes generally.
I understand that fittings can take time; however, I do not see why this would mean we were not allowed to purchase shoes after 6pm! Also, there was no notice posted regarding this policy (not at the store nor on their website). This situation was very disappointing.

I love this place. I’m not ashamed to say it. I shop here even without the pretense of buying something for my niece and nephew. I bought myself an Uglydoll there the other day and didn’t even PRETEND it was for someone prepubescent. AND I asked them to wrap it. OK, that I am a little embarrassed about, but whatever. PLUS, they don’t mind if you bring in your dog.
This place is a wonderland of things you always wanted and never got to have, always wanted, had, and threw away, or never knew existed, and must have. Right now I am jonesing for the glowinthedark ant farm, complete with ants.
Bring your inner child here. You can easily drop a million dollars on things like toys, books and games. Not to mention the rain boots with the ladybugs on them, although those do only come in kid’s sizes.
