I would give 3 stars because it’s pretty average chinese take out food. We usually order the chicken and broccoli and general tso’s. My boyfriend likes the fried dumplings but I find the skin to be soggy and too thick. I give it two stars because they have forgotten our order twice. When we have ordered on seamless, they neglect the comments section so it sucks if you have food allergies. Delivery takes about an hour and half which also contributes to the 2 stars.

The worst Chinese food! The sauce on General tsos chicken was literally glue like. They describe the dish as hot and spicy, but it was not even a tiny bit spicy. It was sickly sweet. The accompanying fried rice and egg roll were edible. I asked for a side of hot sauce but didn’t get it. I hate wasting food but I just couldn’t put that glue-like, high fructose corn syrup sauce in my body so I had to dump most of it.

Came across this nasty chinese take out place. Ordered chicken over white rice. The young girl in the front was rude. Nasty attitude. Place is dirty with the grade B!!! While waiting for the food I was battling with flies it grossed me out so I ended up canceling my order and left. Rather starve then eat dirty food.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a hole in the wall place, and there is barely standing room. However, for its price, I would order from here all the time. 6 dollars for some quality General Tso with some yellow rice? 我喜欢它。-That’s Chinese for I love it, at least Google tells me so.

I’ve gotten delivery from here many, many times. In my opinion, Hunan Chen’s is easily the best Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is quite reasonably priced, and it’s delicious as well! I always love their vegetable fried rice and their lo mein — those are my go-to orders. But every so often I’ll mix it up and get mei fun or something like that. I’m never disappointed. The delivery is always quick. This is also a great place to order from if you’re trying to get large amounts of food for an event! You can order food by the quart from Hunan Chen’s, and the food is the same quality as if you were getting single servings. Definitely order from here if you’re craving Chinese food!

Wish I could give them 2.5, or 2.75 stars… the first few times I was really happy with my orders(fried rice, sesame chicken — the usual) but then I found a hair in the food and that kind of ended my relationship with Hunan’s Chicken.

Hands down the best Chinese food in the area. Everything I’ve ever ordered from here has been great. The owners are friendly and they take a lot of crap from their customers due to their location. Their beef with broccoli is my go to dish. I probably order this at least once every two weeks. The beef is tender and the broccoli is done just right. The fried dumplings is their star attraction. What a great Chinese dumpling. If this is all they served, I would still come here one a week. If your looking for a great Chinese delivery/take out place in the area. You have just found it.

Ordered chicken in garlic sauce and dumplings. The dumplings were the worst in the world. Had to throw them away. The chicken dish was edible. The place is cheap, cheap, cheap, and you get what you pay for. Delivery was fast but I will not repeat.

Not bad for take out. I didn’t enjoy the cashew chicken as much, but I really liked my husband’s beef and broccoli. I would’ve added a pic of that as well but he inhaled it before I could take one. They do free drinks if your order is more than $ 10, but I had the same experience as others who reviewed– it’s going to be a completely random drink. Props to them for fast delivery. Overall, a ton of food.

This place has very good chicken dishes and mediocre everything else. Soups are decent but the dumplings weren’t so great… They were mostly dough. Overall I would recommend this place only since it’s better than most of the other Chinese take out in the area.

There are two kinds of Chinese food… Cheap Chinese and Expensive Chinese. This place is literally a hole in the wall with one table in it and the kitchen is basically behind a cage… that being said it’s tough to find better cheap chinese. There min order is $ 6 and the quality you can get is tough to beat for the price. Don’t get me wrong they aren’t reinventing the wheel here and they won’t blow your mind but if you are looking for something cheap and fast this is a good place to get delivered to you.

Of the options in/around the 10027 zip code, this is probably the best in the«Cheap Chinese Food Delivery» category. Their portions are always relatively large, the prices cheap, and the quality consistent. Never had a major problem with delivery either. It is, by no stretch of the imagination, quality chinese food. But it’s decent, fast, and cheap chinese food and that’s good enough for me.

Ordered through GrubHub… and this was my third order. The first two times were ok… but this time i’ve got some things to say. And they arent very nice. So if you’re the owner and you happen to read this, I’ll apologize in advance if I sound like a dick. And I dont mean Richard. The chicken noodle soup was lukewarm, stingily portioned and bland. The cold sesame noodles were gelled together and inexplicably spicy. The chicken with broccoli had an odd odor. I asked them not to ring my bell because my dog goes nuts and to call my phone instead, they ignored me. I called to remind them and also left a note on grubhub that they do the same. The crunchy noodles were crunchy. The soda was cold. The white rice was good/ Everything else sucked. Really, just sucked.

This place is my life saver! I live literally two blocks away, so usually I call them before leaving work and pick up on my way home. But I’ve definitely placed a few delivery orders on weekends and the delivery guy totally judges me… this is how dependent I’ve become. Hunan Chen’s serves up cheap, better-than-average Chinese take-out with great service. If you’re like me — a busy person on a budget and live within delivery distance — this place is perfect. Their General Tso’s chicken is fantastic, but I try to pick healthier options now that I eat there so much: P. Their Szechuan chicken is probably my fave — yummy tender chicken with all sorts of FRESH mixed veggies. Not overly salty and they really give you your money’s worth. Plus, they don’t drench everything in sauce! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is their crab rangoon… the one time I got them, the shells were really thick and brittle. I don’t know, maybe some people like that? But otherwise, I am always impressed by the quality of their food. I sometimes order a combo meal and a veggie dish(eggplant is my go-to) and get three meals out of it. Plus, if you spend over $ 10 they give you a free soda and a spring roll: D

Hunan Chen is THE première Chinese Restaurant on the Upper West Side. The array of choices rivals that of an Islamic man’s heaven. The delivery is fast and precise, as they have not been unknown to be knocking on your door before you’re finished ordering. You can’t go wrong with any of the chicken options on the menu. Also, it’s against restaurant policy to accept tips so it’s a little cheaper. Just kidding, don’t be a dick.

General Tso’s is really great… very different from what I’m used to. Reminds me more of a honey sauced chicken because it’s not spicy at all. The sauce is light and sweet and the small portion is def enough from 2 people. Wonton soup was average but the small did come with 4 – 5 dumplings so thats a plus. $ 6 min. for ordering delivery and they are on grubhub. I live near 125 and broadway and my food came in less than 45 min.

I’ve found this place through grubhub and its users’ many great reviews. This is cheap and easy take out at its best. Really good service and unbelievably fast delivery. I must have ordered from them 15 – 20 times and they were always so fast and polite and about 75% of the time can figure out my terrible intercom system and trek up 4 flights of stairs — that is incredible delivery service in my book when most places just yell at my from downstairs and threaten to leave. I LOVE their 4 $ sesame noodles… though sometimes they are inconsistent with how much sauce and chilli they put on top, it is a huge portion and delicious. I LOVE that for 5.25 I get super fresh steamed broccoli or string beans and brown rice with the sauce on the side… nothing is gooey, the container is packed. Thier hot and sour soup is also somewhat inconsistent… it just tastes different each time I order it but always good… sometimes great. They things listed with bbq sauce are usually smothered in some sweet/sour over the top sauce that I dislike and learned not to order but all the stir fry and noodle dishes that I’ve tried have been really good. Also — weirdly — one of the BEST fried chickens I’ve ever had… seriously… half a chicken for around 5 $ with great flavor If you are ordering a meat/chicken w/veg and rice dish, especially at lunch special, be prepared for not much meat… but c’mon guys… it’s like 4.75 and it’s take out… what are you expecting.

In taste and title– This spot has mysterious Chinese Restaurant Secrets. Overall– the General TSO is very good– Although, I have been the victim of BOTGB(Bottom of the General’s Barrel) at times. For those unaware of this phenomenon, it is when the the«general» part of General tsos chicken is mostly missing. In other words, its when the Tso dominates the tasty synergy of General Tso’s tasty essence(marginal Queens bred chicken and sauce laden crispy treats among a limp broccoli amidst a few rogue mini onion curls). Also, is it called Hunans kitchen or Hunan Chen’s kitchen? Can Chen please confirm.

Not too bad. Good portions and relatively decent food. You get what you pay for. Fast delivery is a big plus. Order rice platters, noodle lovers avoid!
