History
Established in 1981.
Formerly a photographer and founder of The Center for Photography in Woodstock in 1977, Howard Greenberg has been one of a small group of gallerists, curators and historians responsible for the creation and development of the modern market for photography. As well, Howard Greenberg Gallery which was founded in 1981 and originally known as Photofind, was the first to consistently exhibit photojournalism and ‘street’ photography — now accepted as important components of photographic art.
After nearly 17 years in Soho, Howard Greenberg Gallery moved to The Fuller Building, at 41 East 57th Street, in 2003. In 2012, we announced the expansion into a new space: Howard Greenberg Gallery Two, adjacent to the Main Gallery in the Fuller Building. As the gallery has always represented the worldwide history of photography, this expansion will enhance its ability to continue into the 21st century.
