It’s gone! I mean I feel bad giving it a 1 star, but I guess I’ve got to since it’s no even in existence. I had a friend recommend the place to meet for drinks after work on a Wednesday. She said she had just had a co-worker’s farewell party there the week or two before, and *poof* it’s vanished. We had the address, were sitting right outside it, but alas, no Heartland Brewery. Bummer. We were looking forward to some good brews.

I am borderline personally insulted by the Kobe beef burger at this place. It was so bad, so bland, so dry, so not kobe beef that I can only liken it to someone slapping your mother. We ordered the«loaded fries» as an appetizer which came drenched in «cheese sauce». Ugh, I hate cheese sauce. You know, the type that comes with nachos at a baseball stadium. Yeah, gross. Made the fries a soggy mess. Then the burger. Ohhh the burger. First off its $ 1.75 extra for 1 measly slice of cheese. Then the burger came and was on a chewy, almost stale kaiser roll that was way too big for it served with a side of chopped lettuce drenched in some grocery store vinagrette. The burger was the driest, least flavorful thing I’ve ever eaten. And thats inclusive of all burgers, not just kobe beef. The fact that this was a kobe beef burger just made it that much worse. I have grilled better burgers on my own with Stop & Shop 80⁄20. Highly disappointing. With so many places in the city to go for good bar scenes and a good burger, you can avoid this one. Shame, too, because I was such a fan of the oatmeal stout.

Make sure you have a gallon of water ready for after your meal. I’ve been here a couple of times during weekday lunch hours. I’ve tried the buffalo saltburger, Philly saltsteak and an ahi tuna burger(surprisingly, this one was good). And if you haven’t guessed, yes. The food is SUPER salty. Including half of the soggy fries — apparently they don’t like to sprinkle salt evenly. The other half just tastes like they’ve defrosted some frozen potatoes. They don’t take reservations but during the times I went, I’ve never had a problem getting a table immediately. Service is good. Food? Not so much. You might be better off heading to the mystery meat hot dog cart across the street.

I loved the beer, the Kobe burger was good, the server we had was awesome for a good hour or so and than it went south… seem like one of the other bartenders said something to her for talking to my buddy and I and she stop being as friendly and than he started serving us. But great place. I even tried to find it 6 months later. I was in town for the 2012NFL draft this weekend when I stopped by. The thing I liked about this bar was I purchased tickets on my phone for the Yankees game and couldn’t get them to pull up on my phone. the bar offered to print them, that didn’t work, so the friendly guest had a cpu and pulled them up for me and sent them to my phone so I could pull it up. Giving three stars because the server went south and the food/drinks aren’t standing out to me after a year.

Solid spot for a burger/fries and some beverages, service can leave a little to be desired though. I’ve been a couple times and am always happy with my burger; they have consistently cooked it how I ask(medium rare) and the fries are nice and crispy. On my last visit there were 8 of us and we ordered a couple of apps that just never showed up. All of a sudden our main courses arrived; and one persons was wrong twice. Eventually it was sorted out but still. Expect Manhattan prices.

4 stars for HH; 2 or 3 for dinner. Awesome happy hour place — Monday to Thursday till 7pm! They have some $ 5 cocktails(the margarita was tasty and strong), and a $ 5 beer(selection changes daily) and $ 6 wines i think? And half priced buffalo spring rolls, nachos and wings. Mainly the shirt and tie crowd but we still manged to find seats just before 6pm. We missed the happy hour by a few minutes to order food, so we got a table and shared a salad and a tuna burger. Tuna burger was bland and it’s supposed to have a wasabi mayo with it, which we couldn’t taste at all. Good thing was they allowed us to swap the garden salad to sweet potato fries for sides. I would just stick to the HH for this place.

I don’t care how everything else is here, but let me tell you: the fried pickles remain one of my favorite hangover appetizers ever. They are perfectly greasy. Beer’s not bad but everything else is just alright. Fried. Pickles.

I have been here for Happy Hour which was decent, but this review if strictly for lunch. A party of nine of us had reservations for 1pm. We had to wait another 10 minutes to be seated. Once we sat down, we already knew what we wanted to order, and made sure to have our drinks go in with our meal requests around 1:10, at 1;36 no food, again at around 1:45 no food. We had to ask continuously about our order and then we finally saw the sues chef coming our way. I had the Ahi Tuna with sesame sauce and” sticky rice”. The portion was much smaller than I thought. There was no «sticky rice» as the menu indicated and I was left hungry. I mean, for heartland Brewery I have learned my lesson stick to the Burgers since that seems to be where they give you what due for the prices they charge. My Ahi Tuna was 17 bucks and it was not worth that at all. SMH to HeartLand, don’t expect much

The fact that Heartland Brewery not only didn’t have a line but was actually half empty at lunchtime in the heart of Manhattan was probably a sign. My experience wasn’t awful and wasn’t great – it was simply average. If you want a decent, comfortable place to eat around the Empire State Building, perhaps this will get the job done for you. Service was great. Our server was friendly, upbeat and prompt. My half pint of their stout was quite good. The buffalo chicken salad was barely okay. The sauce wasn’t tangy, the blue cheese wasn’t sharp, and the chicken was relatively tasteless. I’ve had worse, but I’ve had much, much better. The place was very clean and comfortable, with one major exception – the silverware my friend and I received was sticky. The server quickly replaced them, but it’s a little gross to get sticky tableware. Not sure I need to come back given the other places in the area, but maybe I’d return for beer and an appetizer.

Perfect place for beer and fatty food. Came here on Friday night for happy hour. The bar is SLAMMED, but thankfully we got a table. Perfect place to grab a beer, some nachos! Chicken nachos were huge! they came with gauc and were loaded with toppings. The wings sucked, we ordered them extra hot(and they were pathetic), the chicken fingers were mmmmh. The fish & chips were prob the only decent other thing to order. Pumpkin beer was strong.

After a beautiful day out with my girlfriend(on football Sunday I might add) it was her idea to catch the rest of the game at a local sports bar and grab a bite to eat. As we were going to Radio City Music Hall she spotted this brewery along the way(Heartland Brewery) and suggested we go there to see if they had a TV, not only were there TV’S but really good food and an assortment of good beers to go along with the good food. The atmosphere was fun and inviting and the service was attentive and excellent. The food was moderately priced and authentic(I had the Fish and Chips). I mention authentic because you have no idea how many times I’ve had fish and chips and had to ask for malt vinegar, everyone knows you can’t have fish and chips without malt vinegar! That went a long way with me, hence the 4 stars. I can’t wait to go back, I had a great time that day and my Giants beat the Redskins that day so it was definitely all good :-)

You know anytime a restaurant plays Semisonic’s «Closing Time”* over the sound system that you’re going to have a good time and this was certainly the case here. And by that I mean this song was the highlight of the visit. Listen, a lot of people hate on Heartland but I like the one on 43rd Street and defend the chain in general because I find it reliable. The visit to this one was just okay. We had the Smiling Pumpkin Ale, which I actually like a lot, so that was a plus. My friend got a sandwich which was fine and I got the buffalo chicken spring rolls(BCSR) and cheese fries. Previously, I’ve been blown away by the BCSR but these were just sort of limp and greasy, like a hippie’s hair or Donald Trump’s handshake. The fries were soggy and lame under the cheese. I barely ate half of them which is a venial sin for me – luckily I said four Hail Mary’s and did the stations of the cross at church on Sunday so I was absolved. The server was nice enough but she seemed like she just wanted to be somewhere else, a feeling for which I cannot blame her. ___________________________________________________ * The actress in this video is Denise Franco although she is rocking an Ashley Judd kind of vibe, minus crazy sister and momma

Good beer, Patio seating but Touristy. It’s what you would expect for the neighborhood. I’ve been here a few times and it’s always with out-of-towners looking for a beer, sun and a quick bite. I like their Fish and chips but the burgers are bad. Over cooked and dry slabs of char. Anything tastes a little better washed down with the IPA or Red Rooster Ale. Grab a table outside, order a pint and rest your feet. That’s about all Heartland is good for.

Located near Radio City Music Hall, this has the makings of a semi-tourist trap. I don’t think anyone sets out to go here; this is more likely the type of place you go to meet co-workers for happy hour. I came here after an event at Radio City Music Hall. The menu is very typical bar food. The popcorn shrimp were good-not as crispy as I like my shrimp but the cajun mustard remoulade dip was tasty. The mini-burgers were good but not the best burgers ever.

Heartland Brewery is right across the street from my friend’s office(which is, incidentally, in an office building I used to work in), so three of us met there for lunch out of convenience. It was mediocre and overpriced, but serviceable enough. The atmosphere and décor were pure American chain restaurant, down to the bright yet bland colors and stenciled menu fonts. Service was good, fast and reasonably attentive. We ate at our leisure but didn’t take longer than we wanted in the middle of the work day. The food was average, leaning towards bad. I went in on a plate of crisp fried calamari that was easy enough to eat, but that I could have done without. The squid tasted okay, and the spicy roasted tomato basil marinara was fine. For my meal, I had the warm grilled chicken sandwich, with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and herb mayonnaise on sourdough, and fries on the side. This was a tasteless, mealy sandwich with limp unseasoned fries. I would have been okay with it at an airport, but this was a midtown sandwich, and it cost $ 13.50. And I suppose that’s what bothered me about Heartland. I understand that chain restaurants with plain food have their place and purpose, but I don’t see why any of them get the right to charge outsized prices for what they serve. I ate at Katsu-Hama for lunch the day before for $ 14 all in, and it was amazing. Heartland? $ 30. For half of some forgettable calamari and a third-rate sandwich. And oh yeah, I guess a $ 3.50 Diet Coke. I guess that’s what you get if you’re busy in midtown, but I don’t have to like it.

I can’t walk past a brewpub without giving their beers a try, so we stopped in here while wandering the Times Square area. The beers were decent but not great. The Farmer John’s Oatmeal Stout was too thin and watery for my taste. The wheat beer had a nice body and good flavor. Out of the two I tried, I’d definitely recommend the wheat! The restaurant has a fanchisey feel, but it was clean, reasonably priced, and the service was quick and friendly. It’s got your basic sports bar atmosphere with several flat screen TVs and loud music blasting. All in all it was a nice place to take a break slightly outside of the main Times Square thoroughfare.

Heartland Brewery is a mean place. Why is it mean? Well, there is seating upstairs… But there is also seating downstairs, even more seating, to be exact. So you follow the hostess down a winding staircase and you’re seated. You look at the menu at all the amazing beers they offer(the Snakebite is to die for) and you eat and drink or just drink. Then you pay and you realize, wait a minute, that staircase is still there. That staircase is still winding. There is still a revolving door to go outside. And you may be tipsy or drunk at this point. And that is why Heartland Brewery is mean. They give you good drinks, good food, then expect you to maneuver up a staircase.

Sometimes I want to sit outside during lunch and I want my food brought to me. Not one of my coworkers picking up a Pret-A-Manger sandwich to eat in a concrete plaza, but a real live waitperson who brings me drinks, food, utensils and other assorted lunchtime requirements. In return, this person gets a tip from me! Heartland Brewery is close to the office, has minimal wait times and serves… food. Honestly, the Pat LaFrieda burger is pretty freaking awesome. It’s got a rich, beefy flavor that makes up for the crap McDonald’s-bun. If I’m feeling quasi-virtuous(and I’m probably not) I might get the buffalo chicken salad with grilled chix(instead of fried). Word to the wise, the grilled chicken is that wierd fakey saline solution chicken that doesn’t taste like real meat. The service, well, it gets the job done. Rarely efficiently and occasionally quite the opposite.

I went here a couple months ago after a visit to the MoMa. I honestly can’t remember what I ate so it couldn’t have been anything spectacular. I’m really racking my brain here… I think maybe Jordan and I split the fish and chips? I vaguely recall some decent nachos as an appetizer. I’m gonna say the food was overall just okay. We had the beer sampler which was pricey, but good. Service was fine. Our waitress was Scottish and very nice. The little sampler glasses were adorable! Good place to go on a chilly afternoon with a group of beer loving friends.
