This is more of a 3.5 but I round up because it’s good at doing what it tries to do, be a nice sports bar. Decent beer selection. Lots of TVs with good sound. Food is okay. I had the guacamole and the cheese plate. It wasn’t spectacular but was good and definitely better than snacks available at most sports bar. It seemed classy with a chandelier and was clean but didn’t make me annoyed or feel gross.

Good for lunch. I always go for the seared tuna & avocado — healthy & filling. Good service, never too busy. Will have to pop in during happy hour.

Went for brunch. Nice interior with several TVs. A little pricey for food that was good, but not spectacular. Probably wouldn’t go back for brunch, but seems like a good bar to go watch a game at.

A more upscale sports bar in Chelsea. A great place to watch the game with several TVs around the restaurant. The crowd is definitely an after work crowd. The service by the bar is good(never had an empty glass of either water or liquor). The chicken sliders were pretty tasty and worth ordering if you want something small to munch on.

From the hostess, to the waitress, to the busboy, the service was amazing! My compliments to the chef! The angel hair pasta and the lamb chops were absolutely amazing! If you’re in the area please check this place out. The ambiance was nice too. Sports on the TVs and plenty of space to hang out if you’re in the mood for just a drink.

Flat iron steak is delicious. We enjoyed our new year dinner along with the friendly environment. Could think of that place as a sport-bar as well. Almost everyone was happy at the table

Great place to grab a drink and a bite after work or come for a low-key lunch. They have many TVs, so you can always catch a game here; it’s also classier than your typical sports bar, which makes me a big fan. The staff is always pleasant and attentive. I’ve brought many friends and coworkers here, and Grey never disappoints. Grey Bar burger is my favorite, with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

We landed in this spot because we were watching Sunday football at a different place and we couldn’t find seating. When we arrived we liked the interior design and also realized no matter where you were in the house you would be happy with a TV view. The staff was very friendly and the mini Buffalo chicken sliders were great to share.

Great place! I took goat cheese salad with salmon and the taste was wonderful! I really liked their menu, cozy interior and air conditioner lol :) Plus, the barmen was amazing: helpful, friendly and polite. Love it!

Came here to watch the GOP debates. We called ahead to make sure they would show them, and they came through. They also went out of there way to get the volume loud enough so we could hear the dialog. Food was shockingly good. Very nice atmosphere as well. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the other entrées on the menu. I had the lamb chops and they were very tender.

Calamari and wine was yum, but we had the rudest, careless waitress ever. Magdalen had no smiles or kindness at all. My boyfriend had to walk to the end of the bar on the opposite side of the restaurant to ask her for our bill. We only tipped because the bus boy was kind. Explains why the place was empty.

I went to Grey Bar with a friend after hitting up Madison Square Eats to get a quick happy hour drink. It looked like a cool spot with a classy, dim-lit ambiance and tables that made it easy to watch the TVs behind the bar. It wasn’t crowded at all — some people grabbed the small two-person tables by the window, but everyone seemed to crowd around the bar. We were very impressed with the layout of the place, but that’s kind of where it stops. Most of the reviews rave about the food, so I’m not going to dock too many stars for my experience since it does seem like a cool place to watch a game and eat some bar food. However, for the area and the price I was definitely expecting better. When we asked the bartender about happy hour, he had to go ask a supervisor, and we learned that there are NO happy hour specials at the bar. That was fine, since the well drinks aren’t too expensive, and we weren’t planning on staying a while. Even though the place wasn’t crowded at all, it was so hard to get the bartender’s attention! He was all the way on the other side of the bar during the entirety of our stay. We asked for two drinks, and he mixed them up(putting lime in the wrong one and giving them to the wrong person). It’s not that big of a deal, but it was just a little annoying after how hard it was to get his attention in the first place. Another thing to note is the music selection — it was the most depressing soundtrack I’ve ever heard! I’m not kidding — every song was even sadder than the previous, and it just kept getting worse! We were laughing at the absurdity of it, but it’s so true. I will not be returning back for a pre-dinner drink, but it could seem like a cool place to go later in the night.

If you find yourself in the Flatiron District, 26th street is a must-visit. I’ve found yet another solid bar option here in Grey Bar. A friend and I planned to go to Flatiron Room on Saturday night, but I, as always, was painfully punctual. She, on the other hand, was running late – which I knew, but I foolishly arrived earlier anyway. I had begrudgingly decided to forgo watching the rest of the Rangers game in favor of leaving for my night out. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that Flatiron Room’s neighbor, Grey Bar, was screening the game on an impressive number of TVs, some of them massive. It was a beautiful night on Saturday, so Grey Bar had(I assume) removed any sort of storefront window apparatus they may have had, so the front was exposed to the street. After being an outsider(both literally and figuratively) for quite some time, I figured I’d stop awkwardly jumping around outside in my heels… by myself… and venture inside. As far as sports bars go, this one is quite upscale. I’d say it’s along the same lines as Smithfield(which is actually not far from here). If you’re looking for a more divey joint where pitchers upon pitchers of cheap beer are the only refreshments in sight, this isn’t the place for you. But this is a damn comfortable spot to watch a game. Despite it being a Saturday night(during the playoffs, no less), I found a seat at the bar easily, directly across from a glorious flatscreen. There were a bunch of people crowded around the bar, but everyone was quite polite – more merry as opposed to rowdy. Just an overall pleasant scene. Seating options are abundant here, too. I don’t know what it’s like here during happy hour, but I had my choice of bar seating, a long communal table and a number of smaller, more intimate tables. It’s kind of a choose your own experience here, which I like. My friend ended up meeting me here before we ventured next door, and the patrons near us graciously shifted their spots so we could comfortably sit next to each other at the bar. Maybe I’m just a jaded New Yorker at this point, but I’m not used to this kind of etiquette at a sports bar. Cheers!

I spent a couple hours at Grey Bar on a football Sunday afternoon. It was a bit of an odd day for me, I was waiting for a flight back to California and I was basically sitting on my luggage for a few hours. Nevertheless, I had a good time at Grey Bar. My friend and I arrived before the games started. The bar is lined with TVs, it’s clearly a place laid out for sports watching. The hostess asked us what games we were interested in watching(sign #2 that we were in a football haven). We were seated and given menus. My friend and I each ordered a Bloody Mary, a burger, and a beer in the time that we were there. The Bloody Mary was decent, as was the burger, and prices were as expected. The crowd was definitely more like a 30ish/yuppie-ish brunch crowd, rather than a bar catering to football hooligans. There were even a couple of toddler-aged kids climbing around the benches and chairs. Which was cute, given that several of them were in Eagles jerseys. Long story short: I’d recommend coming here if you are 1) interested in watching football 2) coming here with a group, especially one that is largely, but not entirely, interested in watching football, 3) hungry, and/or 3) wanting a slightly more upscale football watching environment than your local sports bar

Leron’s Lesson: Rock solid dinner options with efficient staff and huge TV. Full Review: Visited Grey Bar on a Monday night for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the experience felt. I ordered their special burger and a beer for dinner, which did not disappoint. The service was very attentive and stayed out of the way when they weren’t needed at the same time.

I know Grey Bar gets most of their traffic from the Happy Hour crowd, but can I tell you that I had a really nice late lunch here too? I was in the neighborhood with my mom when we stopped in here for a 3:30pm lunch on a Friday afternoon. Their menu had a ton of great choices for salads, sandwiches, & light meals, so we were pretty pleased. It was a little quiet — maybe 3 – 4 other parties dining, but we were very off-peak so I wasn’t surprised. We were given the option of sitting at a hightop or regular table, and we chose a regular table near the back of the restaurant. It was cozy & comfortable, and there were at least two TVs within our line of sight. The room itself was really nice. Lots of wood, with beer bottle chandeliers over the bar area. Very comfortable! I ordered a glass of Prosecco & a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken. I was so surprised when the waitress brought over a mini bottle of Prosecco & popped the cork at the table! I felt so special — plus that little bottle was like two glasses’ worth! Makes it a definite bargain for $ 10 in NYC. I really loved the little bottle! My salad came out so organized! When I first saw it, I said, «I love how orderly it is!» Check out the picture & you’ll know what I mean. But presentation goes a long way, and they had me with this one. It was served on the cutest little triangle plate that I kiiiinda wanted to take home with me. But a meal is not based on looks alone, amirite? The chicken was grilled with some spices, and it almost had a little kick to it. The lettuce was very fresh, the grated cheese was generous, and the salad was very lightly dressed(so as not to compete with the grilled chicken). I suspect the croutons are made fresh, becaue they looked & tasted like they were made in-house. Lightly fried, with just the right amount of crunch. Overall, I was really pleased with the flavor, the portion, & the presentation! My mom was also pleased with her Cod Sandwich(the day’s special — similar to the Fish & Chips but on a soft bun) & hot tea(several flavors available). Our server was really sweet & attentive. We never wanted for anything, & we left very satisfied. Just as we were leaving, they dimmed the lights & started putting tealight candles on the tables for Happy Hour. We had a great time here. Come for Happy Hour … but come for lunch, too. And maybe dinner?

Grey Bar is a sports bar I frequent whenever I’m in NYC. My buddy lives close by and I’ve spent a few Sundays here watching football before heading off to the airport. Grey Bar is somewhat of a hybrid, in that the ambience is more chic than your average sports bar, yet is still primarily catered towards sports(football) fans. Most people were tuned into the NYC teams, not surprisingly. However, the crowd was mostly non-partisan and people were cheering for a variety of teams There are plenty of TVs, the atmosphere is modern and clean. The few times I’ve been, they accommodated our parties of 5 – 6 easily. They never seem too crowded on Sundays, which is a big draw of the restaurant. The food here is better than average. Being able to eat a decent brunch while watching Sunday football is another draw of Grey Bar. Like others have mentioned, I would avoid the guacamole. However, everything else i’ve tried has been good. This includes the Buffalo chicken sliders and the pizzas. I tried my friend’s strawberry-banana pancakes, which were good as well. They have a pretty good selection of draft beer and wine. I did not enjoy my Bloody Mary though, but that could be bartender dependent.

This is one of the better sports bars in the neighborhood. Besides the pretty decent beer selection, I’d also call out that the pizza is quick and filling. There are screens everywhere for your sports viewing pleasure. Lastly, this spot is great for a large group, especially if you get there before 6pm and call before to give them a heads up that you’re coming. They will do their best to accommodate.
