Grace Wine & Spirits

I’m not a wine drinker myself, however I do enjoy half a glass of red wine before going to bed. Therefore after a great time with my friend at a wine bar today, I decided to bring a bottle home. So glad that there’s a liquor soft right across a sheet.
Wines here were priced fairly and ordered by region. They had a great selection from USA, French, Italy and Argentina. I brought home a bottle of Pinot noir with high anticipation.
Will give a try on Decoy next time, after finishing my bottle!

Grace is my wine shop stop when visiting friends in Hells Kitchen. And I visit a lot! It’s convenient on the corner of 10^th Ave and W44th, and has several large coolers with a wide variety of chilled white wines and champagnes… in all qualities and price points. Luckily they even have some wines from $ 8.99 and up for my non-​discerning friends haha! (shhh!)
It’s not a huge store, but nicely laid out floor to ceiling with wine and spirits racks. The staff is friendly and smile. Stop by in the evening when Grace almost never fails to have distributors with wine or liquor tastings as you walk in the door «to help get you in the mood» to buy…

Great wine store with friendly knowledgable staff who are fun to talk wine with. They have a very strong California section, good French, Italian and Spanish wines at a wide variety of price points, from the very affordable (but good) to gift-​worthy. The place is clean and well lighted with plenty of room to move around. They will steer you away from pricier wines that are not as good as the cheaper ones, not like some wine stores in the neighborhood — they are here to make a profit but not to price gouge you. Great neighborhood wine store, by far the best and most reasonable in Hells Kitchen. Only drawback is that they aren’t open as late as their competitors, closing at 10pm! They should try staying open another hour or so!

Probably the best liquor/​wine store I have found in midtown Manhattan. My wife and I found this place during our stay in NY in August. Being from California, we are used to inexpensive wine and liquor prices, however on previous trips to NY we were shocked at how expensive it can be. At Grace Wine and Spirits, we were pleasantly surprised at how cheap their prices were. In fact, they were in line with what we pay in California, and considering we were in NY, we were very, very pleased. Their selection is also really good and we found the staff to be extremely helpful.

This is the best liquor store I’ve found so far in Hell’s Kitchen! They carry a great variety of products and also have darn good prices.
Recently, I’ve gotten more and more into trying different brands of whiskey and they carry sooo many. One of their staff members was nice enough to chat with me for a few minutes and make recommendations based on my taste preference.
BONUS! — They randomly have free tastings in the store for wines, vodkas, etc.

One of my local liquor shops, they have a vast selection of wine and spirits. It’s spacious, and the guys behind the counter know their stuff. I happen to be more of a tequila guy, and Grace has a good selection of tequilas that aren’t you’re average well tequila.
You should know that:
To be called a tequila, you have to have 51% blue agave tequila in the bottle. If you’re drinking a tequila that says «Made with Blue Agave» — you’re likely drinking what’s known as a MIXTO, which is 51% tequila and 49% sugar. How do you think it’s so cheap? This includes *most* Cuervo and Sauza tequilas.
Want to know if the tequila you’re drinking is 100% Blue Agave?
Take a look at the bottle. If it is made with 100% Blue Agave tequila, it will say so on the bottle (it’s required to). Start drinking 100% blue agave tequila and you’ll notice that those hangover headaches are much less since you are eliminating the heavy sugar.
Grace recently expanded their Tequila selection and now has Partida, one of the best tequilas out there in my opinion. The blanco, reposado and the añejo are all great, so don’t worry about choosing a bad one. They’ve also carried Cabo Wabo and Espolon for a while now, which are also good 100% blue agave tequilas.
Sauza Hornitos and a few Cuervo tequilas are in fact 100% Blue Agave, but they likely are not the ones you’ve been drinking.

Decent selection, but unlike other people have mentioned, the staff were definitely not very friendly. There are plenty of other liquor store in the area.

We stayed in the city for the night and wanted a bottle of wine. Impressed with the selection, prices and location.
5 stars as we expected the prices to be high based on location and we felt they were really reasonable. I think comparable to home (Syracuse suburbs) they were as good as a big box store and better than a comparable size shop.
If in the area and in need of wine (which is a regular occurrence as the hubby likes his daily glass or two) this would be where we go!

I am updating my review of grace as I had a talk with the management who explained what has been going on with the new employees. All and all of the places in the neighborhood with regards to delivery this one has the best selection and generally the best customer service. They also have a great selection and can be ordered via iPad or online. Their selections are usually good and inventory extensive. Thanks for reading and enjoy.

I generally go to Manhattan Plaza for my wine/​liquor/​beer needs out of sheer laziness. However, when I want an awesome selection, I trudge the extra block and head to Grace.
I happen to love good boxed wines, and this place just has a great variety of options that are ACTUALLY good (Bota FTW). And they are a little cheaper, which is key in alcohol purchases.

Amazing little shop, has a lot of great wine (but a lot of two buck chucks also). Definitely speak to someone and ask for recommendations, they’re really sweet about teaching you about different types of wine (new world vs. old world wine).

Best selection of wine that I’ve seen in the neighborhood. Prices are generally predictable, although occasionally/​randomly a few dollars more. The staff is lovely but sometimes seem a bit swamped/​hard to ask them more than one question. Overall, great wine store and convenient location!

Excellent selection of wines and liquors. This is probably the biggest liquor store in the immediate area. They usually have some sort of sample when you go and the employees are extremely nice. I just wish they had more people ringing customers up as the line can get a bit long at peak hours.

Really nice wine shop — has a great selection, reasonable prices, and a really helpful staff. Definitely the best in the neighborhood at the very least.

Sometimes a store is just a store, but Grace is way way more!
This shop exudes great service with class, phenomenal selection, and premier knowledge to boot. Broken down by the country of origin, I always wonder which among the vast array of wines will be the right fit. Gus and the rest of the staff are a genuinely friendly bunch and always willing to help. Their insight is second to none, which provides an incredible education when shopping here. This is my go to shop in the neighborhood for so many reasons.

Finally, a wine and liquor store in the area with good prices and a great selection!
One day after brunch at Market diner, hubby and I were walking back to 9^th and talking about what to do with the rest of our Sunday. «Wanna just sit around and drink red wine?» «Yep.» and alas, there was Grace Wine. We spent nearly $ 70 and every bottle we bought (I guess there were 4 or 5?) was delicious. We came back a week or so later and bought 4 or 5 different bottles, and so far those have all been great too.
The prices range from around $ 8 or 9 to hundreds, but so far we have kept in the lower end of the spectrum and haven’t been dissatisfied yet.
The only downside is that the staff are generally not very helpful with wine selections. They say everything is «good» and generally do not produce helpful feedback. If you don’t know your wines, you could end up buying *shivers* Yellowtail… ugh. There’s a little section in the back right corner with «Grace’s Picks» which seem to be $ 10-​$ 20 range and pretty good, if you tend to get lost in wine shops.

Close and convenient. Wish they were open later.

Liquor? Delivery? Liquor Delivery? Whomever thought of this concept should be highly commended!
And no… not all the time. But liquor on demand for delivery does come in handy during parties like the one I had for Fourth of July. What? I am out of vodka? No worries… Call Grace.
What’s even better? The staff. Friendly, helpful and they know their booze.
And talk about convenience. One and a half block away, and I am in liquor heaven. And I must say their prices are very reasonable for Manhattan.

It’s very dangerous to open up a wine and liquor store across the street from me. My wandering the store ended up in my buying a cheap bottle of sake. Which I have to hide in my room because my alcoholic roommate will drink anything and everything in the fridge. I’m SO over roommates btw.
The place isn’t exactly a hidden gem type; you don’t see any barrels of wine or too much wood panelling but it’s nice in its own way. Like wide aisles and a large wine selection. I appreciate that they have various types of sakes and soju’s, as well as sangria and Pimm’s (!!) at reasonable prices.
I chatted with the manager (?) who said they’ll start having wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays from 4−7pm (guess who’ll be there). He was even so cool as to ask me what brands and types of wines I like and if it wasn’t in the store, he’d order it to add to the stock. I’m not that knowledgeable in wines, so I commented that the range of sake and soju was really refreshing. He then mentioned that more would be coming in soon!
The spot is new and still has a freshly painted smell to it. My favorite, aside from the friendly staff, is that they have a flat screen tv in the back showing an educational wine short, and overhead speakers throughout the store with sound. (It caught my attention when I noticed there wasn’t music and I was listening to a soothing female voice telling me about types of chardonnay.) I could definitely park a chair in front of that tv and drink some wine, if they’d allow it.
And the place closes at 10pm on weeknights and Saturdays! Now I don’t have to make a pilgrimage out to Trader Joe’s for some quality wine.
