Get the beef patty(dripping hot deliciousness in your mouth). The chicken was ok. Chase it with a bottle of cold Ting(grapefruit soda). Heaven. I’m Jamaican, so not as close to the real thing(Juici-beef patties), but a decent substitute.

This food stand is located in the Grand Central Terminal food court. Completely not what I was expecting. Instead of friendly, smiling service, we got one guy completely ignoring us & one gal being snippy & rude. Instead of a flakey crust, we got a soft, slightly undercooked one. And instead of chunks of delicious jerk chicken, we got a filling that was like a watery stew. I won’t lower my standards or expectation for anyone, even if I’m only paying a mere $ 3.50.

Been to other Golden Krust places in the past and as most people already know this is a pretty basic fast food menu. No problem there what-so-ever. Only thing I would not stand is approaching the food stand at Grand Central, saying ‘Hello’ to the person behind it and asking how much were the patties. His answer, without a hello or anything of that kind was a face gesture pointing in the direction of a board were prices were written. When he did that, I asked him again and his reply was, well it depends. Not only was he rude but made me think twice about going to a Jamaican place ever. Shameful attitude and surely won’t bother spending my money there.

In a crowded Grand Central station, with lines at every counter, you can just walk right up to the Golden Krust and order. It’s not spectacular… it’s just a chain so you can’t expect much from here. The roti was dry and I could tell it was just packed and stacked away for who knows how long. Perhaps stick to the patties? I had the jerk chicken patty and it was fine.

To the owner(s) of Golden Krust(«GK»), located in Grand Central Station 42nd street-NYC. I wasn’t aware that you could order a well done«Spicy Beef Patty,» hence, the over cooked crumbly Krust! Why would anyone want to, or for that matter, «how» can anyone enjoy an overcooked –well done pastry? FYI– The Krust is supposed to be soft, intact, and consistent, absent the feeling of charbroiled flour in your mouth. Not to mention, the Krust was so flaky, anyone eating GK’s patty could have easily been mistaken for a construction worker or master painter with flakes all over your clothes. I looked like the victim of a horrible food fight gone wrong. I ordered a beef patty today,(second day in a row), since, I would not risk trying anything else. Not that am not adventurous, but GK still doesn’t quite grasp the concept of what a pastry is! The previous order I had placed the day before, came out with the exact/identical/similar/equal(any other synonyms will fit nicely here) — well done flaky charbroiled Krust. Why Moses! Short conclusion, I’ll keep my $ 8.25 and go else where. Disclaimer: Perhaps, GK was having an off day. Nevertheless, this review is specific only to my experience on 04/21/2014 and 04/22/2014 respectively and moreover, to the GK located at Grand Central Station Terminal 42nd Street NYC. I’m cognizant, that individual experiences to food, style and tastes are collectively a sui-generis matter. Nevertheless, this review should not influence your personal feeling or decision to try their foods on your own.

Thank you golden crust for adding a spot in grand central! I am addicted to all the patty offerings. One thing though — how can you not accept credit or debit cards? That is just nuts. I’ve gone elsewhere multiple times because I was short on cash and am not willing to pay the ATM fees to get cash.

Fast, cheap and delicious, but NOT fast food quality(burger king, mcdonalds)! I love me some beef patties and coming from an area where finding this food is impossible, it gives me a deeper appreciation of being able to eat it while on vacation! lol The fillings whether meat or veggie are perfectly seasoned and the pastry is lighter than an empananda. Deeeellliiicciioousss!

Oh Golden Krust, why aren’t you in LA? Went to New York and found this new found favorite of mine. Since I’m a vegetarian, I can only give a review of the soya patty, vegetable patty and the spinach patty. My favorite is the vegetable patty. It’s flaky and crispy and the filling is so tasty. It has the right amount of filling and spices and a little kick to it. The soya is also tasty and has a bit of kick. I’m not a big fan of the spinach one though. They have other options for vegetarians which is the spinach wrap. I didn’t get to try it but I surely will next time. I came to this place everyday for the 5days I was in NY and it helped that it was around the corner from my hotel. But what sold me was the customer service. I didn’t catch their name but they were so awesome. They were so pleasant. By the 2nd day, they already knew that I’m a vegetarian(as well as her son!) and they already knew what I was going to order. Now it’s a must for me to visit this place every time I go to NY. Needless to say, I bought a bunch of the patties and took them home to LA!

First Jamaican beef patty experience, exceeded my expectations. Went with the spicy patty, does have some heat but not overbearing. Nice and flakey crust, decent amount of filling inside. Caught a hint of habenero pepper which, if this is the case, what gives the patty the spice(stating the obvious). Pretty convenient if taking train somewhere or just satisfying your inner vagrant while loitering in grand central food court.

ive always been intrigued by carribbean food, they always show it on cooking channel, so i decided to try the jerk chicken patty today, loved the prices so affordable, quick for on the go, but i have to say i was a little disappointed. There was no chicken in my jerk chicken patty, it was tiny scraps of chicken swimming in a pool of curry sauce inside the pastry. all i tasted was the curry, which was too pungent. overall i did not feel satisfied in the end.

I needed something to tide me over on the train and I was sick of the usual fare in GCS. I decided to grab a quick beef pattie and coco bread. As we all know Golden Krust is a very commercial version of Jamaican food, so what you are getting is decent, but not great. The spicy beef pattie, when fresh is decent. However, they can’t seem to get the coco bread right. Maybe that’s because I’m used to fresh coco bread and this definitely tastes like its been sitting for awhile.

This is gong to be short and sweet: This things are tasty! I work in Grand Central and when I need a tasty, cheap, snack — this is the place. I’ve only had the spicy beef patty, but it was delicious, hot, flavorful, it’s like a gourmet hot-pocket of sorts. If you need a quick snack, something different, and cheap, definitely try Golden Crust! (NOTE: Be careful, it is — HOT — inside, I recommend taking a bite then letting the hot steam leave the pocket, then start eating.)

Sometimes you just want a beef pattie. Sometimes you’re not willing to go to a local place and track one down and make a meal out of it. Sometimes you want something convenient. So that’s what brought me to Grand Central. I visit Grand Central a lot whether it be to take pictures or to eat(the food selection is pretty decent considering this is a «train station»). I stopped in, walked up to Golden Krust and thought«maybe today I’ll get curry goat» because curry goat and I are good friends. I ordered and was then told they were out of curry goat, curry chicken, and every type of pattie except chicken and beef. The beef pattie was of course delicious, however, the chicken smelled good but left much to be imagined in the taste department. Decent location if you’re on the go but not worth it if you have something you particularly want.
