If you’re trying to grow your hair out… have David cut your hair, as my girlfriends and I say «he’s got the green thumb for hair»! He’s amazing and when ask that he only refresh the ends, that’s exactly what he does. I’ve never kept up with the trims every 6 – 8 weeks because inevitably the hair gets cut shorter than what you want and it never gets long. Not with DAVID! Love him and so does my hair!

I have come to Gloss before for a good, cheap blowout and went back tonight before New Year’s Eve. I am extremely disappointed and found the service to be very rude. It is normally $ 35 and they charged $ 47 WITHOUT any advance notice. I called to make three different appointments for me and my friends and spoke to different people, so I am sure no one «forgot» to tell me about this New Year’s Eve surcharge. I will not return after this inconsiderate service.

David’s blowouts are some of the best in NYC and I say that as a person who gets blowouts every two weeks in a salon and has very thick curly coarse dry hair. Trust me! Can’t speak to other services quite yet but hopefully I can try soon.

I’m the kind of person who is insanely picky about my hair, terrified of haircuts that always end up too short and color that leaves me unimpressed. Within 5 minutes of consulting with David I could tell that he knew exactly what he was talking about to the point where I was asking for his opinion every step of the way. He is an expert, not only in technique, but in finding the most flattering tones for your complexion, ones that work with your hair, instead of against it. I have naturally dark-​brown hair and wanted to go lighter in the most natural way, while still making a pretty drastic change. The end result is a subtle caramel-​blonde ombré with face-​framing highlights that was achieved through balayage/​highlighting and I could not be happier. He also cut and styled my hair, which were both great (read: didn’t chop it all off) and created beautiful, super-​dimensional glossy color with lots of movement and shape. Cannot say enough good things –if you are looking for an incredibly knowledgeable colorist, with a great eye (especially brunette’s looking to go lighter!!), go see David.

I had such a great experience at Gloss. I live in the neighborhood and had been wanting to try them out for a blowout ($ 29 for a walk-​in compared to the $ 40+ you’ll pay at DryBar down the street sounded pretty great to me). Today I went for a walk-​in haircut and blowout combo with Carlos (who I believe works Wed-​Sun), and I’m so glad that I did. The staff was super welcoming and fit me in right away. The wash (complete with awesome head massage), the cut, and the blowout were all terrific, and I left the salon feeling like a whole new person.
Overall, Carlos just did a fantastic job. He checked in with me throughout the cut to make sure that I was happy with it, and it really felt like we were on the same page from start to finish.
This place is small, so the space feels intimate and relaxed. The huge Bumble & Bumble location I used to frequent in midtown was always packed and felt a bit like a circus, especially on weekends, so Gloss was a really pleasant change of pace.
Without a doubt, I will be returning to Gloss. If you’re looking for a new spot to try in the neighborhood, give this place (and Carlos) a try.

Best salon on the UES! The woman who washed my hair did a great job, and added a fantastic head massage. I had a blow out done by David who also did an amazing job. He was very efficient, and I my friend and I received numerous compliments on our cuts/​blowouts.

My experience at Gloss Salon was outstanding! At first I was looking for an old stylist at another salon but unfortunately it was closed. Peter assured me to come in and try the salon out. Let me just say Peter is amazing and did an incredible job. I just needed a touch up on some half head highlights and a trim. He brought my hair to life! When you love to do something it shows and you can see that he has passion on what he does. I am extremely happy with my cut and and highlights. Thank you so much and will be seeing me again.

I don’t know why people give so many stars, this place is only good for blow dries and is definetly not a fashion place, they work with foils only and the hairstylist don’t look good either and are not very welcoming.
If you re looking for a nice balayage or ombré avoid this place.
2 stars because the place is clean and blow dries are good.

If there was a possibly to give 6 stars this place deserves every single one of them. From the décor to the professionalism of the staff I felt like I walked into a dream!
Make sure to book an appointment! It’s fairly new and a new gem to the neighborhood. Can’t wait to get another color! It came out absolutely perfect!

This place is great. It’s located in a conveninent part of the Upper East Side. The décor is modern, and the salon is kept clean and tidy. David did an amazing job. Even little things like being asked if I wanted a cup of water, and my coat being hung for me, facilitated a positive experience.

I think Peter of Gloss is a virtuous when it comes to cutting hair and color. I was stopped on the street and was asked dozens of times by my neighbors in my building for the telephone of my hair stylist.
I even was approached by a famous hair stylist in Israel who complimented me on my hairstyle and told me I had an incredible haircut.

Was looking for a quick barbershop in the area and found a gem of a salon instead. Service was pretty quick I didn’t have to wait too long. Before we sat down the stylist mentioned they are new to the area and if I was pleased with the service I should leave a review. I left with a great cut and a new friend. I’ll definitely come back to the salon. Staff was very professional, service was courteous, and an exceptional stylist named David did a great job with my hair cut. Thanks! Will see you next time.

I have curly hair and I am very overprotective and sensitive about it. If it gets messed up, unlike straight hair it’s very hard to hide. You have to be a professional to know how to deal with it. I got my hair cut by Joseph, he has hands of gold! I am super happy with my new look and definitely recommend to check him out!

David is my stylist/​colorist and moved to this brand new salon on the upper east. Though it’s farther for me to go, I would follow David anywhere! He is a fantastic stylist. I have tried highlights, color, and ombré with him and each time I’ve been very happy. He suggests products that have helped my knotty/​dry hair but is not pushy about it. He is also very flexible with me as I have a hectic work schedule. This salon is bright, chic and modern but not pretentious. And David’s blow outs are wonderful — I always feel like a million bucks when I leave the salon!

This salon is brand new, I came in for a wash and blow dry, my stylist was David and he was awesome, I have never had my hair blown so good… I recommend this salon for everyone, beautiful establishment and so very comfortable… and Yes David I will let you cut my hair…
