Gardner is THE best. I always feel great when I leave. The compliments I receive are endless. I have had short hair, long hair and all in-​between and he rocks them all.

No one ever really knows what to do with my hair, so I’ve gotten the same boring haircut my entire life – until Gardner Edmunds! He is not only a pleasure to chat with for an hour, but he gave me a new and exciting haircut that’s even better than I could have imagined. My hair dreams have officially come true. Also, the salon itself is an oasis. If you’re considering going to Gardner, stop thinking and do it!

This salon is my go-​to when in NYC! I’m in the city regularly for business, and I needed a good salon for cuts and blow outs. Gardner Edmunds came highly recommended by a colleague and I decided to try it out — and I was so impressed with the results and experience that now I won’t go anywhere else! I cannot say enough about his level of talent, as well as the quality of the salon experience in general. I have fine hair, and I’m pretty particular about it’s styling — and on my first visit, he carefully listened to my preferences and gave me great consultation about the best cuts to enhance my volume for a consistently fuller look. What he delivered was so much more than I expected — my hair has never been cut so perfectly and tailored, and it’s never looked better on a daily basis! Since then I’ve been back for routine cuts as well as styled blow outs for events, and my hair has been styled perfectly every time — and I know I’ve looked my best! The salon is also a beautiful space and makes for a really lovely overall experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a perfect cut and styling.

I’m not easy when it comes to hair. I want a haircut to be everything — edgy, modern, professional, just enough texture, just enough movement, easy to style, low maintenance, no product, blah blah. I had the pleasure of meeting Gardner and having him cut my hair a few weeks ago. He’s very talented — gave me a beautiful haircut, that is great now and will grow out beautifully. Win! He’s very talented, but in addition and equally as important, he is such a good listener and really gets you — gets your vibe and your style. After talking with him for 10 — 15 minutes, I knew he got it and me, and we had had a really good time collaborating throughout the cut. And… he’s a delight and a total treat to spend an hour with.

Gardner Edmunds gave me the haircut I’ve never been able to articulate, but always dreamed – gamine, feminine, iconic (but not a copy), part Edie Sedgwick, part Twiggy, part English schoolboy, part Liverpool mop-​top. Many nods to the past, but decidedly NOW. Modern. Modern. Modern. Effortlessly cool. Like his private salon, which reminds me of early Dumbo lofts, a big wide hall, no name on a door opening into magical light and airy height. Gardner is friendly, smart, confident and casual. He totally focused on me and my hair in a way that relaxed me, and did not make me at all self-​conscious. When I walked out of his salon I felt like my best self, as if I’d been hidden and trapped somehow and his haircut revealed me, set me free! I floated down 23^rd Street. I consider myself enormously lucky to have found Gardner Edmunds – I can’t sing his praises loudly enough!!!

I am so glad I found Gardner and his amazing abilities when it comes to getting my haircut. I was refered to him by a great friend who assured me that «he is the absolute best in NYC» She was right. He is. Going into his awesome private salon you feel like you are going into a close friends chic studio. Very private and comfortable. No chaos, drama and noise from all the givers and receivers of mediocre hair styles. Just you and Gardner and his full attention to precise details of what you told him or asked him, but more importantly, what you did not. I got real soon that he knew what I should do with my haircut and the end result was BRILLIANT. Searching for a new hairdresser in NYC is always a source of anxiety for me as I have had a few bad experiences. Gardner Edmunds is a breath of fresh air. I was referred by a friend and I’m so glad that I followed the lead. The location is easy to get to and a short elevator ride will take you up to a beautiful suite that is so nicely decorated. Gardner is super nice and he LISTENS! Other stylist have taken my requests and thrown them out the window to do what they want. Gardner really understood what I wanted and he worked with me, adding his own flair, resulting in a haircut that I was extremely happy with. I am definitely coming back again.

I’m proud to say that I was Gardner Edmunds first customer at his new space on 23^rd in Chelsea. I’m visiting NYC from CA, needed a cut, was recommended by a close friend, made an appointment, then headed over. Going to Gardner’s is not like going to a salon in LA, nor anywhere I’ve been. It’s more like going to your psychiatrist, if you have one, but not with anything weighing on your soul. He’s located on the 7^th floor of a tall building. It’s really more of an office than a salon, partitioned into two styling areas which, I’m guessing, he shares with someone else, but who wasn’t there. It was just Gardner and me. No nasty, nose-​ring studded, purple hair-​dyed wannabe actress receptionist. In fact, no receptionist at all. Rhye was playing soothingly over the sound system. The space is airy, high-​ceiling-​ed with a rooftop view. Gardner — a young, hip Chris Isaak lookalike — made me a French press pot of terrific coffee with real dairy. Look, this is not like getting your hair cut in LA. Salons there are cacophonously noisy — pounding music and angry women who aren’t getting laid. Getting your hair styled at Gardner Edmunds is a quiet, dare I say civil, and utterly relaxing experience by contrast. But none of this would matter if you left looking like Helena Bonham Carter or Wayne Newton. Gardner not only listens to what your expectatins are for your cut, but he actually delivers. How many times have you told the stylist what you want, only to walk out racing to get back to your abode and hole up for a week so no one can see you? Okay, he’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and then some. Joking aside, I just loved the privacy of the whole hair-​cutting experience. Gardner’s an educated guy and conversation flowed freely and easily. The hour passed as if you were getting a massage and not a haircut. Without question, hands down, the best hair styling experience, and result, of my entire life. Thank you, Gardner. Gardner is the best! Super friendly, attentive and detailed. I never really know exactly what I want with my cuts, and usually let my stylists decide. Gardner is able to do a great cut that works amazingly with my face. I have short hair and nothing ever looks uneven and I always leave looking stylish. Love him!

This place is the best. It’s location is so convenient and the salon is private, relaxing and chic. Gardner is the best stylist I have been to, without question. I love the personal attention I get without feeling like I’m being shuffled all over the place. I love that he is the one to take me through the whole process at his new place.
