If you’ve been to one, you pretty much know what to expect. Difference with this one is its pretty fancy location. A far cry from the spot by my high school in Lancaster, PA.
Basically, the more you know, the more pleasant/​efficient your experience at Gamestop. At other Gamestop locations that I’ve visited throughout the course of my lifetime (less often now, more so in my younger years), I’ve had maddening waits at checkout; reasons were between interminably long lines, a combination of clueless customers and inept counter persons/​cashiers, etc.
Given this past knowledge, I was prepared for the worst when I stopped in here two days before Xmas 2015 during my lunch break. Despite there being a few bodies in line ahead of me, much to my delight, I was in and out in a matter of minutes. As a well trained nerd, going through many trials/​tribulations (suffering as a result from the powers that be) in my youth, my ability to communicate with the the resident employees was never an issue; however, it was quite shocking at how quickly the line moved and how efficiently the customer-​employee interaction was. I half expected that the blue bloods of the neighborhood might be a bit dumbfounded by how pleasure-​seeking devices, such as the XBox One or the PS4, work (as well as how to deal with their respective software). After seeing what was being purchased though (hardware and peripherals as opposed to software), I could understand the efficiency. Thank you for being rich you TriBeCa citizens… cuts a healthy portion of my wait time in line.
So if you want a quick and painless Gamestop experience, this particular location may be your best bet.

My experience in this store was superb =) I knew I wanted Fallout4 and it was just released yesterday. This is a gift so I really don’t buy these things. Of course it is displayed in the front but I dumbly picked it up and shake the box wondering why is it so light. Duh! New things are always held by the employees.
They were super nice and as I was paying, food delivery guy came in for one of them. The cashier said: Sorry about the weather. I was like huh? Wow, why is he apologizing about something he can’t control? Super nice people, will definitely come here from now on since I work in the area. Awesome staff always makes me want to revisit a place!

The new sales rep (Sharon, as per my receipt) doesn’t know what’s she’s doing. She has an attitude problem, as well as an ego one. If you’re new and you don’t know what you’re doing, show some humility. Don’t pretend to know things and push wrong information to your customers. Consult senior reps, or the manager if need be. Don’t tap away on the computer after every question and push out false info.
Manager, if you’re reading this: If this sales rep doesn’t change, she will cost GameStop WAY more than the wages you’re paying her. The marginal cost of maintaining a customer is way cheaper than the marginal cost of adding a new customer. Even with Amazon’s free same-​day delivery, I made the split-​second decision to purchase the PS4 in-​store at the GameStop, my first console purchase at a GameStop. I should’ve just waited 3 or 4 hours and done Amazon same-​day instead. Here’s my story:
After spending half an hour in-​store deciding which two games I’d like to grab with my new PS4 I am just about to purchase, I walk over to her to make a payment. This is what the conversation goes like:
Rep: Hi, how can I help you?
Me: Hey, what PS4 bundles do you have? I’m looking for the Uncharted or the Last of Us bundles.
Rep: (checks on computer) Well, there’s the new CoD and Star Wars bundles, but they’re not out yet.
Me: What about Uncharted and the Last of Us?
Rep: (checks on computer) Looks like they’ll be released on November 3^rd.
Me: Um, can you tell me which ones you have in-​store, then?
Rep: (checks on computer) We only have the vanilla PS4, without a bundled game. Does that work?
Me: No, I’m good. I’ll come back.
I walk to the door and check on the GameStop website again. I’m almost certain I read somewhere Uncharted was released weeks ago. And yup, I’m right. It says October 11^th, 2015 on the GameStop website. I walk back and show it to the sales rep.
Rep: Well, even if it’s released officially, sometimes we’re not allowed to release consoles before a certain date which is a few weeks after release. Sorry.
I walk out of the GameStop. Cool beans. I’ll just get it later then. But then in a moment of quick thinking, I got on the website again, and pushed an Uncharted PS4 hold order for this GameStop branch. Sure enough, within 5 minutes, I get an email confirming that my hold is available for pickup in-​store. Huh? I now proceed to call them and verbally get the confirmation that it’s available for pickup.
I walk back in and tell the same rep I have an order on-​hold. Again, she checks on the computer and walks to the on-​hold games section. She’s looking for a while and comes back.
Rep: Are you sure it went through? What game was it?
Me: Yes… It was Uncharted.
At that moment the senior sales rep chimes in and speaks to the rep that I’ve been working with: ‘He’s the on-​hold PS4, Uncharted.’ Finally!
Me: I thought you told me you guys didn’t have this till next month.
Rep: Oh, no. We had a huge delivery. Maybe 40 boxes or so of these came through.
Right…
The sales rep proceeds to pick it up from out back and then brings it over. She’s now trying to push the serial number from the PS4 into her computer. I’m standing there for 7 minutes during this when she finally turns to the senior rep:
Rep: The serial number isn’t going through.
Senior rep: That’s not the serial number.
Senior rep proceeds to rotate the box and point at the actual serial number. My rep plugs in the number and it works. I pick up two games, I make the payment, pick up the PS4 and my games, and head home.
Now, the icing on the cake. Today, a day after I’ve already bought the PS4, I go back to my receipt as I clear out my wallet. Hover down to the ‘Playstation’ line item and read in bold:
«CUSTOMER DECLINED WARRANTY COVERAGE.»
Yeah, sure I did. I’m glad she made the decision on my behalf to decline the warranty. Seriously, what a vindictive idiot.

Good sized store tucked away on Greenwich Street — easy to overlook if you pass by it.
Walked in to get a copy of the new Arkham Knight game on release day — even though I didn’t preorder I was given the goodies too.

Gamestooooop!!! Even that some times i don’t buy anything I like to pass and see what is new

So this store is right next to my school which is amazing !! I bought my bf nba 2k15 today and I wasn’t late to class yay ! The staff is super chill as well.

Stop in almost everyday to look at all the fun I’m missing. I love this place. They’re always friendly and helpful.

I Purchase 2 Call of Duty: Ghosts games that was on sale for $ 39.99 each as New that the game was $ 49.99 each. but when i and my son try to used 3 maps that come with the games they haven been use on both games? when i purchase this game a ask the sale person by the name of david: number 325 703 if all the code that come with the games are not use and he reply yes their are NEW. which was not the case. and i had a hard time trying to get this codes. i try to get new codes from the store but they keep giving me used one. this is the frist time this ever happen to me. i have have always been a member for years and a power up member too. i feel that gamestop no loger cares about ther Customers or Selling some thing new when it’s not.

Great location, great hours, and not the super-​long wait when picking up a game on release day, like in Brooklyn.

Bought my boyfriend two games from here. The employees tended to me just fine and I was in and out with just what I wanted! :)

Not a bad gamestop most of the staff knows there stuff just don’t pick this spot if you like midnight openings cus they never ever have any

Been there a few timse. The staff is a mixture of helpful super geeks, to spooky clueless. I went in one day for NCAA 2011, and the employee said ’ yeah, here you go’. I know new games are generally $ 59.95 on PS3, and I look at the sticker and it’s like half the price. I immediately realize, he handed me last year’s release (2010). I called out to him «hi, I think you gave me the wrong game» — he said, «no, that’s the one that just came out», I was about to flip, and another employee corrected him, then handed me the right product.
OK, this is when they actually had the item I wanted in stock. About eight other times I went in there looking for gifts (games say.2−6 months old), they had none of them. And like ALL the GameStop locations, their last copy is always open (no shrink wrap), but they’ll tell you «no, it’s totally new, just opened for display». Me thinks it’s an employee loaner copy until it’s sold. I don’t know about you but I kind of like giving gifts that aren’t open?
Well, worse comes to worse, there’s always the mega ugly blue and yellow Best Buy stores within a few blocks way of three of the city’s GameStops. Just enter knowing what you want, and bring a flare to get someone’s attention in there. Oh, almost forgot. pray the game you need it not one of the new ones locked behind that special counter, as you’ll be hunting down the one employee who happens to have the key. Yes, you yourself are playing a video game… it’s called «The Legend of Incompetency»

This is the brand, spanking new Gamestop that is located in Tribeca. It is right next to Whole Foods and in the same complex as Barnes and Noble, and Bed Bath & Beyond.
This particular Gamestop is a little smaller than your typical Gamestop. But you know what they say: good things come in small packages (and hopefully my future ex-​wife will remember that. I jest). Like all Gamestops, they are wall to walled with loads of XBox 360 games, PS3 games, old school XBox games, PS2 games and a small section of Nintendo Wii games. And yes, they did have a few new and used consoles on sale. But no Wii, gosh darn it.
The staff were all geeks, and thank god. We don’t want a Nate Archibald-​type working there, looking down on geeks like us. We want the Seth Cohens of the world, the Dan Humphreys of the world talking to us, and listening to us go on and on about how we got to Level 20 432 of The Legend of Zelda, volume 535.
That, my friends, is what a video game store should be like.
Oh, minus one star because they don’t carry N64 games.
