Yesterday I took a drive to the Village. I had eaten here in the past also. I got a table right away, the service was great. They give free coffee refills, and it’s really good! I had an egg dish, it was delicious, and served quickly. I might take a drive from Long Island again to go there soon!

One of the best places I’ve been in NYC for many reasons but the most important was 1) service 2) food and 3) price. When I walked passed I saw a guest eating French toast and I knew when I finished my meeting I was going there to have some. By the time I came back I was informed that the toast was apart of the Brunch menu. My server Christine checked with the kitchen and accommodated me by still preparing it, even though it was on a different menu. That right there told me a lot about the establishment. It’s so much easier to just say«no» and sometimes the request is difficult. However, I have the feeling both the server and the chef were thinking about guest satisfaction and because of it they have made a new returning customer. Now the French toast was more than amazing! Served with strawberries and pineapples, and made with a fluffy inside and crispy edges… That is a chef who know what he is doing! As a big waffle eater sometimes it’s hard to trust French toast because some people make it soggy. I have to say the French toast was seriously one of the best that I have ever tasted. The price was reasonable for that part of town and for what I received I was very pleased. As a New Yorker on a budget I don’t eat out much because of finances but I really did enjoy myself, and I will come back again for brunch.

I’m posting this review in the hopes that the management will take heed. i was there for dinner on sunday december 27 at around 5:30-ish. while the food was ok, the restroom was atrocious. it was obvious from the overflowing garbage can and filthy floor, that no one had gone in there to clean and tidy up for a long while. when one is paying NYC prices for food, it’s expected that the restaurant has enough respect for the customer to maintain a clean restroom. a staff member should be responsible for checking in and cleaning up at least every 30 – 60 minutes or so. i hope that this helps them clean up their act.

A friend who came here as a child brought me here. Call it nostalgia since she claimed the décor and artwork has not changed in over 30 years. Small menu no sides they will charge you the full amount of a meal if you want a side from it. For example we went for brunch and wanted French toast and eggs and bacon they charged $ 12 for eggs and bacon just as the full meal. Narrow entry where the host table blocks part of access so not sure how a wheelchair may for in. Most of area is on ground floor with hard and uncomfortable curved back and wicker chairs. There is one area with additional seating up a small set of six steps. This is also where the bathroom is located and that has an even narrower door where people walk in sideways to fit! This location is not accessible! Food was ok. The scrambled eggs I wanted not runny so the kitchen made a frittata which is NOT scrambled eggs. The French toast was good and the highlight. Not sure I wish to return.

This place is sketchy. We were seated and probably waited 25 minutes before anyone talking to us. We had to ask for our waiter. The waiter came over, clearly not happy to be working and was not particularly interested in helping us. The dessert was mediocre at best. The drinks were terrible– nobody in my group could taste any alcohol in their drinks, and very very small drinks(in a smaller than a starbucks«tall» cup). Also– because it was late I think they were trying to slip extra costs to our bill hoping to add more. I got a $ 5 hot chocolate, and asked for a splash of a liqueur in it. I couldn’t taste anything except from chocolate– so I doubt there was actually a splash of anything in it, but they charged me $ 15!!! $ 15 dollars for less than a shot of liqueur? This place is just trying to steal money. Terrible.

Salads and soups are always amazing and the service is guaranteed to be friendly. If they are busy there could be a wait for your food and it coyld be loud, but overall they do their best when their at their busiest!

French Roast is one of my neighborhood favorites for breakfast, lunch and late night. I’ve had most of their breakfast options at least once, and they’re pretty straightforward — the Shakshuka is my favorite, with creamy feta and spinach drenched in tomato sauce. Service is friendly, and the ambiance is always cozy. I’ve been seated next to individuals speaking French more than once, which kicks it up a notch in my book as well. It’s not the least expensive option, but when you aren’t drinking(i.e…breakfast, which is why I don’t say«brunch,») the bill isn’t bad. There’s outdoor seating, which is nice — especially when there’s good people-watching on 6th avenue. They’re open LATE, and serve satisfying discothèque(not disco, discothèque) fries until ~4am.

The outdoor café. French onion soup. The barista bartender is good too! Juan is the best. For a café au lait or a drink concoction he makes. Their omelettes are stellar too

Friday night dinner for two call upon French. Unable to travel this year with great disappoint, I find other means to enjoy ethnic foods as French in a very diverse large metropolitan city as New York. The relaxed atmosphere, wall mirrors and food selection it reminisce my past visit to Paris, France. Not exactly fine dinning indeed but gets the job done to eat our fill. Priced is slightly more than moderate but is expected for a French Bistro. For Him: Burger on Brioche with thin cut Fries $ 14.50– with fresh strong Bermuda onions juicy with flavor to eat his fill For Her: Duck Confit with Frisee salad $ 16.00 — very tender and prepared very juicy but small in portion to keep in true French fashion that food portions are small. The dried cherries were refreshing though I never cared for black olives. The Frisee salad with red wine vinaigrette was okay. I highly desired my default favorite French entrée of Steak Frites, but with a limited budget I opt out. One uni-sex restroom facility is available on the premise in decent clean condition with a working fan that emits air outdoor. Table service is efficient but rather sketchy as our waiter was being dismissive for the lack thereof business cards. Boisterously loud. I wish Unilocal give half stars rating distribution. My rating for French Roast leans toward 3.5 stars.

Service horrible. Food bland. Mushroom soup lacked flavor. Sandwich came dry. Too many choices in the area to eat here again.

Solid for a quick, cheap breakfast. Brioche French Toast($ 11) with a coffee($ 3) and Smoked Salmon Benedict($ 12). In and out within an hour. It’s a standard meal and they don’t mind you hanging around outside at your table if you’re just trying to people watch for a while. I’ll be back randomly.

I really liked this place. Went for brunch on a Saturday. No wait. Got a table outside. Good service but the food took forever(it wasn’t even that busy) and came out undercooked, but the waiter noticed and took it back without even havig to ask. Pretty standard/good brunch food. Great iced coffee and delicious bellini! I’d go back.

French Roast was a spot I stopped to sit and write for a little and for all intensive purposes that’s what I did. The ambience of the place is quite nice, and they have outdoor seating which is amaze balls in the summer. But to be honest, overall it was just an okay place. I enjoyed, but nothing popped out at all. I had the soup du jour which was a minestrone soup, and my body was like yeah it’s soup… was kind of lukewarm. You get the idea. Then I got the salmon cake for my main course. Again it was a salmon cake. I mean I’ve had SALMONCAKE, and I’ve also had«ughhh salmon cake» and this bad boy fell right in between. Had a cappuccino at the end, it was good. They didn’t bring sugar but I’m not a little b and can handle my coffee without sugar, so yeah. Overall, the place is just what I’ve said: okay. Not really memorable… just a café that is slightly pricey, but it was a nice spot to hang out and write a little. All in all 3 stars

Oh N O. This place looks like a nice date place. I will try that theory when I sit down and eat here next time. FAN.

Food: Very Good Service: Excellent Ambiance: Excellent. What I imagine a neighborhood place feels like in non touristy Paris I came here for dinner on a Sunday night for dinner. We were seated immediately and the hostess was very friendly and pleasant. The place was not completely packed but had most of the tables filled with families, couples and groups of friends having dinner. I loved the vibe this place has. Perfect to just hang out and chat with friends. We ordered spicy eggplant dip with pita. Which was very good. I also tried their burger, it was juicy and delicious. For dessert I had Vanilla gelato and it was pretty decent not the best but not bad at all. Overall the food is not 4 stars worthy but still very good but what puts this place over the top is the ambience and service.

Love this place! Took my parents here and had the linguini, escargot, pumpkin ravioli, and so much more. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was impeccable. My bestie introduced me to this place a few weeks prior and I am glad I came back. He came along as well. This place is definitely on my list of top places in NYC.

Sitio muy chulo. Un pelin caro prto de ambiente grato y un gran servicio. Ojo. No pedir la margarita jalapeño está muy picante. Un horror. Las alcachofas con espinacas están muy ricas.
