Love this Jewish deli Everything is Fresh & delicious. Good service & clean too! Consistently Great!

The tastiest, most satisfying lunch I’ve eaten in a long time. Hot pastrami on rye with plenty of sides including coleslaw, mustard, Russian dressing, and pickles. Pastrami excellent in texture and seasoning … rye bread sliced just right … crunchy coleslaw, and the Platonic ideal of a dill pickle. Everybody was friendly, the service was efficient, and the food was a good value. Nice homey atmosphere. I look forward to going back and trying more of the things on the menu.

Great old skool spot. All the classics you’d expect of a top shelf Jewish deli/​diner are done here to near perfection. New Yorkers need to continue to support gems like this. It’s not fancy. It’s not luxurious. But the food is friggin delicious. And places like this keep us connected to the past.

Red nosed, sniffling and working late, a coworker of mine suggested I stop by Fine & Schapiro on my way home to pick up some chicken noodle soup. A suggestion well made, and taken.
After living for 3 years on the UWS, and walking on 72^nd street countless times, never had I seen this elusive Jewish deli. And thats because its somewhat hidden from the transient eye. But don’t let that keep you from finding it, as its quite the hidden jem.
Their Jewish version of chicken noodle soup (matzo ball included) literally hit the snot, I mean spot. I went to bed at 8 pm feeling better already.
I knocked a star off because for soup its a bit pricey, but when you’re too sick to make your own, or just craving some Jewish comfort food, this place is worthy of trying.

Old fashioned Jewish deli. Soups are well-​priced, sandwiches not so although I didn’t try one so can’t review that (they could have been magnificent and worth $ 15 – 20?).
Anyway the vegetable soup as very good, generous serving and worth the price — $ 7 from memory. Service pretty good too & lots of room in the restaurant.

The food is really good! Portions are WOW huge! Overall the staff is polite, quick and helpful. It was my first time today eating there with family and we were all pretty happy with the food :)

The is amazing kosher deli that I will definitely be coming back here over and over again.
I just moved to the neighborhood and my friend was showing me places to visit.
We were a table of 2. We ordered pastrami sandwich and pastrami omelette and potato latkes which was the highlight of the meal. I had it with applesauce. you can also try with sour cream.
The server was a older lady, very nice and friendly. I felt I found a new kitchen and was extremely satisfied and excited to try other things in the menu.

I used to live in NYC, so when I went back to visit, I was craving food from a good Jewish deli and boy, this hit the spot!
My hubby and I ordered coffees (they were super strong), flavorful matzo ball soup, and a tasty corned beef and pastrami sandwich. While we were waiting for our food, we were brought rye bread, pickles, and the tastiest coleslaw I’ve ever tried. The complimentary cookies they bring with your bill were a nice treat.
Service was wonderful and I don’t think the décor in the restaurant has changed since they opened in 1927. Loved the throwback in time!

Great choice for lunch. A very filling and reasonably priced lunch special is the way to go. For 14.95 you get ½ a deli sandwich, soup (we had the mushroom/​barley) a dessert and soda.
Served with pickles, slaw and basket of rye made it a very good and plenty lunch

Classic New York Kosher deli. Just had a hotdog and Diet Coke, but the hotdog was superb as was the sauerkraut. Look forward to trying it for it’s corned beef next time.

Came in from Texas and wanted to go to a true Jewish deli outside of the major ones near the theater district. Excellent!!!

I got greedy my friends :(I had such a great pastrami sandwich at Katz that I went in the hunt for another Deli!
It was a let down, the Matzo soup was bland and tasted like nothing less than boiled water with lots of soup base. The sandwich was also blend and and tepid warm But the most concerning thing is how dirty the place is. When some of the cooks left the restaurant towards the end of my meal, they look in such bad shape that if I were to look at them before I ate I would have actually walked out.

The Pastrami was great! The waitress couldn’t have been any nicer. I’ll be back next time I’m in NY.

I go here often to get lunch to go. I typically get a sandwich. They are always very friendly and helpful and the sandwiches are always good.

Some friends live a couple blocks from here. We went last night for dinner as we wanted a good New York/​Kosher deli before heading back to Miami.
The ambiance inside is very plain and outdated, but clean.
The service was nice and polite, but they were very intermittent with bringing out the food.
Now the food! I ordered the half sandwich and soup. For the sandwich I got the hot pastrami and the soup as the Kreplach. The pastrami was some of the best ever, virtually melting in my mouth. The Kreplach (noodle portion) was the tastiest I’ve ever had. The meat filling was extremely flavorful. The broth was just average, though.
The latkes weren’t that great and you can’t get sour cream with them since the place is Kosher. The stuffed cabbages were amazing. The sauce was sweeter than I expected, but it worked very nicely.
Prices here are high. My entrée was reasonable at $ 14, but many other items were high (hence four stars).

This is restaurant is in our friends neighborhood but they never go. After perusing some Unilocal reviews we decided to give it a shot. The place isn’t fancy, but the food is good enough to make it not matter.
As soon as we were seated we were given a bowl of pickles and a bowl of coleslaw. I don’t eat coleslaw but my husband inhaled it, and he is very picky about coleslaw.
The daughter ordered a bowl of matzoh ball soup. The matzoh ball itself was great — fluffy and flavorful. But the soup was a little lackluster — filled with noodles but missing the carrots and celery I am used to having in it.
I ordered the roast chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicke was a little dry but still flavorful and with a great skin. The mashed potatoes were also delicious, as was the gravy it was served with.
Our friend ordered the stuffed cabbage appetizer, partly because she only wanted one and not the two the entrée came with, and partly because the $ 30 price tag for the entrée seemed ridiculous. It was delicious though. A little sweet, but very meaty and the cabbage wasn’t soggy, which was nice.
She also ordered the pierogi and latkes combo. The pierogi were decent but the latkes was disappointing. They were huge and dense, and all the ingredients had been processed together so there was no real texture or strength of taste. Plus since they are a kosher restaurant you can’t get sour cream. As the daughter said «bubbies are MUCH better»

First time ever at a Kosher NYC Deli. It was such a great experience. My corned beef and pastrami sandwich made 2 meals and tasted amazing both times! the Matzo ball soup was to die for! The pickles and slaw appetizer were a great addition as well.

Delightful! On a visit into the city, all of the top brunch places in the area were packed with foodie crowds and discouraged, we decided to pop into this deli for a big-​ass sandwich before trucking it back to New Haven. Jackpot! The place was quiet, had booth seating, and was full of great smells. The restaurant portion of the deli was reminiscent of an 80’s diner but the waiter was sharply dressed and the service was impeccable.
The menu is pricey…$ 16 for my chicken pot pie and around $ 15 for my boyfriend’s pastrami sandwich (no sides included), but we were presented with a side of pickles and slaw that helped to fill us up. The portions of our entrees are medium sized, and it’s no frills and no thrills… my pot pie came in an aluminum tray. But it’s sure to hit the spot on a cold, rainy, New York day. Whatever mustard they have clears the senses.
The waiter even brought us a plate of cookies at the end of the meal. We splurged and bought a pound of pastrami ($ 32!) for some friends and for home… it barely lasted the night.
I only took off one star for the high prices but would definitely come here again for the pastrami, and to be more adventurous (tongue anyone?).

This place is way past its prime but still has its uses for a quick deli fix if you are in the neighborhood. Service the night I was there was fine (& Schapiro) and there are plenty of comfort food options.
It was a tale of two soups – beet borscht was watery and forgettable with minimal beets, and this being a kosher meat restaurant no sour cream was available to fix it. Vegetable soup on the other hand was hearty, chock full of potatoes and vegetables in a light tomato broth, and almost a meal in itself. The pickles are half-​dill and the cole slaw is commercial-​grade.
Pete said his reuben (without cheese, of course) was the best ever, but he often says that about the reuben he is currently eating. My chopped liver sandwich was fine (& Schapiro), made of beef liver and minimally seasoned.
This place provides a wan taste of what the UWS used to be. That said, I’m glad it’s still here.

This place is stone-​cold keeping it real. Dropped ceilings, wood paneling, Jewish pop music playing in the background. Hot pastrami on rye comes piled high (I’d guess ¾-​pound, maybe more) and is sliced fairly thin, but not too thin. The meat is nicely marbled, and while it could use a little more salt, that’s what salt shakers are for — problem solved. Price is $ 14.25 and includes big bowls of pickles and slaw. My wife and I shared the sandwich and sides but still were stuffed and had to be rolled out of here like a couple of plump matzo balls.
Finally, the hospitality is warm, old-​school, genuine, all that. Really nice throwback joint.

LARGE portions. BS-​free waiters. Affordable bill. Yummy food. Easy as uno dos tres. Came hungry left happy!
