Fat Sals Pizza

This place is closed. Looks to be a loan office now.

Had Fat Sal’s Special Pizza pie delivered. It was not good. I ate a slice and ended up throwing the rest of the pizza away. Both Domino’s and Papa John’s offer superior pie.

The chicken rolls are one of the best things I have ever tasted (drunk and sober) and I am not even a chicken roll fan. Must try.
The rest of the pizza is very solid as well. Solid little hole in the wall on the UES.

It’s my own fault. The warning signs were there. 3 stars on seamless web. 14^th street location. It’s called «Fat Sal’s,» for God’s sake. But I went for it anyway, on this rainy evening, for a couple of reasons:
1) It’s raining, so I’m not venturing out for food and this place is close enough to my apt that I don’t feel bad sending a delivery guy on a potential suicide mission
2) I ordered pizza last night from my usual pizza place, Gotham, which is superior, but I didn’t want the Gotham people to know that I’m the kind of person who might have pizza two nights in a row, so I went with Sal’s instead. PRIDE GOETH BEFORE THE FALL, etc.
So I ordered a couple of slices and two diet cokes (zero calories, full cancer) and proceed to ignore the work e-​mails that are blowing up my blackberry. Seamless Web tells me that it will be 15 – 30 minutes, triggering incredibly powerful subconscious processes that will induce peak hunger in about 22.5 minutes. Let’s hope it’s only 15!
45 minutes later, I call the place. «Salutations,» says I, «where yon pizza?» According to the gentleman who answered the phone, the guy left «5 minutes ago.» It’s a unique feature of the Manhattan delivery landscape that whenever you call to ask about an order, the guy left «5 minutes ago.» Sure. Enter: Despair.
An hour after I placed the order, I get a call from the delivery guy, yelling at me that he’s been ringing the doorbell. O RLY?! I go downstairs and, predictably, he isn’t there. I call him back, telling him that he is a liar and a villain (but really just being like «yo where are you»). He was at the building next door, which I guess makes sense if you’re dyslexic or something, which he may be — I am not qualified to diagnose such disorders.
Long story short — the pizza was cold and very, very wack and the guy forgot my diet cokes. «Where are the sodas?» I ask. «No sodas,» he says. Yes, I can see that. Since I am a bachelor, the only thing I have in my refrigerator is beer, so I am forced to drink that (tap water doesn’t get real cold and my ice cube tray is empty, woops). Now I’m going to get drunk tonight and be hungover for work tomorrow. Thanks, Sal.

NASTY!!! We found 2-​COCKROACHES in our pizza!!! 2! Under the cheese!
The guys drip sweat into the food!
There’s a reason this nasty joint has had a «grade pending» since the ratings started!

Very good pizza and generic Italian food. Sometimes mess up orders (but doesn’t everyone?)

Best cheap slice for miles, the garlic and olive oil pasta is really good too. Great sauce, wish I knew what they put it in it, but they have basically become an extension of my kitchen. Garlic knots are also crazy good.

The pizza is average but the service is great. Hard to find good service in the city but they have it.

Never eat here unless you have bought the Groupon or Living Social deal first. You’ll save a couple bucks and it is always running.
The pizza itself is pretty big and fairly tasty. I’m kind of particular to the pizza across the street at Rocky’s though. I’ll keep giving it a shot because it’s worth mixing it up every now and then.

Good pizza. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen clean tables here. Come on guys, there are only five of tables in here. What would it take at 8pm– 30 seconds?

Yes another pizza place for me. This place is awesome. The crust, cheese and sauce was perfect. This is at the top of my list.

Large, tasty slices of NY Style pizza. Can’t ask for much more

YUM! Got a groupon — My husband, daughter and I Loved the pizza — we are very picky and both agreed to come back to this place! Awesome Awesome Awesome!

Speedy service and they heat the slice up super hot, it comes out melting and dripping with cheese. Careful because that thin paper plate is not going to be enough to protect your hands.
Slices are huge. My favorite is pepperoni and it covers the whole pie so every bite is satisfying.

Who knew there was no pizza open in the Village at 3am on a Saturday night? This was our only option, and I wish we had saved our $ 8 (which was somehow what 2 slices and a water cost… really guys?)

So good, crust is good, cheese to sauce ratio is good, delivery is good. Just really, really good.

Your freezer’s pizza warmed up and sold for $ 3 a slice. Nothing great unless it is 5 in the morning after a night of drinking, then maybe it is something worth giving 2 stars.

Fat Sal’s continues to be my favorite pizza/​Italian delivery place in the city. I used to live in Hells Kitchen and basically lived off their grilled chicken salads and pasta fagioli for years. then I moved to Battery Park and missed them so :(I’m currently in Gramercy and am having a love affair with Fat Sal’s once again. Yummy pizza, healthy salads, belly warming soups, chicken parm, pasta with garlic and olive oil? How can you go wrong? Oh and they are always super fast when it comes to delivery.

Huge Sausage slice was A-​OK. Great place to kill the munchies.
