Fashion Fairy Nail Spa

I am from Vancouver and needed an Eyelash Extension fill on my stay here. My friend and I made an appointment. The appointment was for 10am. We got there at 10am, she didn’t start on my until 10:30am. She kept going in the back and talking on the phone in panic. She took me to a room in the back and started doing my lashes. She started off only doing the right eye which seemed weird because usually in every place I’ve been to before, they tape the bottom lashes on both eyes and go back and forth. I asked how much experience she had and if she was doing one lash per lash. She said she has 7 years experience (I doubt that) and that she was applying one individual fake lash to each of my individual lashes. She was done within 15 minutes and told me to wait 5 – 10 mins for the glue to dry. When I opened my eyes, they were slightly burning so she put water around my eyes with a cotton swab and that helped a little. Some of the top lashes were glued to the bottom ones, which she cut with scissors. Once I looked in the mirror, all the lashes she had applied were clumpy and stuck all together. It only cost $ 50 which is normally a good deal, but not for the service I got. My friend had the same experience as me. Both of us were very dissatisfied with the service and will not be going back or recommending to anyone. Worst eyelash extensions I’ve ever had.

In from NJ and was relying heavily on Unilocal for suggestions for everything so I had to add to the great reviews of this spot. Needed a fast mani for my brother’s wedding just 2 hours before. I Unilocaled this spot and checked it out with my sister. Was psyched to see great prices AND Zoya Polish ($ 3 extra but worth it). Super clean work, and a little neck massage and hand massage added in for a crazy inexpensive manicure. We could not have been more thrilled!

The salon looks pretty generic, clean, there’s a million others like this in NYC. I went in for a basic manicure, it was $ 13. This is actually on the pricey side for this area.
Trouble started when the manicurist wouldn’t talk to me… at all. I am quiet to begin with so this made me feel super uncomfortable. Her body language spoke volumes. The vibe I got from her was, I work here because I have to but I’d rather be on my phone texting. She was early 20’s, but dresses and acts like she’s 17, long black pony tail with ankle length Uggs. She didn’t have a name tag… convenient.
I normally ask for square with rounded edges and cuticles cut only on the sides. None of this registered with her because again she wanted to be doing anything else on the planet but my nails.
For this unprofessional behavior I still gave her a $ 5 tip and I got not even a thank you. When she was done with me she sat me at the dryers and gave me not only the fastest but the worst and quickest massage known to mankind. It was insulting, I’d rather she kept her mitts off me.
She made matters worse by rushing to the back to start texting on her phone. I sat there thinking should I just let this go or say something politely to the manager.
I stand up at roughly the 8 minute mark where the oil normally is applied to the nails by the manicurist. This idiot was nowhere to be found so I walk over to the manager and ask him if he felt my nails were dry. Wouldn’t you know, she comes flying out from the back to cover her ass and apply the oil. I’m thoroughly disgusted at this point.
The manicure surprisingly lasted an entire 6 days before I went to Nail Expression for $ 3 less and the people are nice. Never again… this place gave me the creeps.

Another nail spa in Manhattan. Nice, clean, massage chairs are new, but not special. Decent nail polish selection and same mani+pedi $ 30 deal as most places around the area. I can go back or not.

Friendly staff and prices are good. They do NOT spend much time on a pedicure. It lasted less than 15 minutes — quite a change from the 45 minute relaxing experience I get at my usual nail salon back home. I wouldn’t come here if you’re looking to get your first pedicure for the warm weather after not having had one all winter. I got a 20 minute chair massage and it was nice. Manicure was pretty quick too but the results were good. I’ll probably try out another place next time I’m in town just to compare.

Professional and very (!!) clean salon. Experience here was wonderful. I had a mani-​pedi. Accidentally ruined one nail twice during drying and staff were so patient and professional about fixing it. Will come here again for sure if I’m in Manhattan.

Was looking for a salon in the area. Place was very clean and staff was friendly. Not sure about their more specialiZed services, but I got a pedi and 10 minute massage and this place got the job done. Also it didn’t break the bank.

I had a no appointment walk in situation on a Monday mid afternoon, and had no problem being taken care of right away. I got a shellac manicure here for $ 35. I got a hand massage and a neck and back rub as well as full manicure treatment. The lady who did my nails wasn’t chatty, which is great, as I hate small talk when I’m getting my nails done and trying to relax. The salon was very clean and tidy. They had just enough shellac colors to select from. I would definitely come back here.

I was pleasantly surprise to show up on a Monday morning and find that it wasn’t a full house. I got serviced immediately after I chose my color. Manicure was very basic and to the point. My nail technician asked me the basic things, «file or cut», «round or square», she was nice enough to ask me if I even liked the way she filed it.
I just want to point out, it seems like they don’t sterilize their tools. I already saw it placed on a tray when the technician sat me down. Other than that, the whole experience was quick and to the point. I didn’t have anyone trying to sell me anything I didn’t want to do. My manicure was $ 12.50 including $ 1 quick-​dry top coat.

2 stars for location and nice massage chairs, 0 stars for the bad service and up sells.
Accompanied my girlfriend for her pedicure today, final product was pretty laughable, looks like she asked a bunch of grade school kids to finger paint her toenails.
To make things funnier, she got up sold for the «quick dry» top coat, and a mediocre massage. She also got attitude for paying and tipping on credit card.

Love this place! Everyone is very friendly and the mani/​pedis last a good amount of time. Anytime I have had an issue they correct it without hesitation.

This is my new favorite nail salon ever. Inexpensive and they give you a brief shoulder massage at the end of the manicure. I walked in without appointment and was started right away. I will come to NYC just for a manicure!!!

Great spot. Just had a manicure and 10 minute back massage by Amy. My nails look great and the back massage was amazing. The salon is clean and relaxing and the staff is friendly and kind. The prices completely reasonable. Will definitely return.

Nice manicure close by my job. Clean, Friendly staff and beautiful décor, the massage was a tad rough it felt like an 18 wheeler was massaging me. But I will very likely come back.

Love this place!!! My go-​to midtown east nail spot was unexpectedly closed and I stumbled across this gem. I was in a rush and they were kind enough to have 2 nail techs give me me a mani/​pedi at the same
time followed by a fantastic 10 min massage. I was in and out in 40 mins and couldn’t be happier with the results and quality! Would absolutely highly recommend this place!

I was here on vacation, in the middle of winter. I wanted a nail salon that was nice, and cheap. Which surprisingly for NYC is easy to find. This was one of the top rated by my hotel, and was not too far. I was able to be seen right away! Everything was clean, no line, pretty. No complaints, and my nails looked great.

Sue is my go-​to girl. This place is across the street from my job, so I initially went purely because I figured I would get a fast manicure. The place is clean, moderately sized and has mostly Essie and OPI nail polish. A manicure is $ 12.50 (which I believe includes the $ 1 quick-​dry, which, is worth it) A manicure and ten minute massage is $ 25. Average prices for the city. They do a good job. I can’t comment on the other services there, though I do notice ladies going in for a wax or facial. They have about 5 or 6 pedicure chairs. The girls don’t shape my nails as well as I’d like but I keep coming here so they’re doing something right.

This is a great nail salon in Midtown East!
I’ve lived in the area for over 2 years and have always had a hard time finding a clean salon. The nail technicians at Fashion Fairy are friendly and welcoming. After moving to the city in 2012 from Long Island, I found that nail technicians in the city are VERY pushy in almost every salon — they want to get you give you every expensive service add on under the sun, but get you out in under 15 minutes. I did not get this vibe at all during my experiences at Fashion Fairy.
The prices are comparable to every salon in the neighborhood, appx $ 30 for mani/​pedi, appx. $ 12 for a manicure.
Overall, I’m very happy with my experience here and do recommend the salon!

Great, quality services are offered here. Been here twice for a gel manicure and they’re great. $ 35 for a gel and they really do a nice job. Very nice and clean place… Would definitely recommend.

There are no reviews out there, sooo I guess I’ll start.
I finally stopped by the salon today after walking by it so many times. The salon must have opened recently, because everything is sparkly clean and new, but there aren’t a whole lot of customers on a Sunday afternoon. They also have a lot of nail colors to pick from, mostly Essie.
I only got the regular pedicure, which came out to around $ 25 with tax. The mani + pedi special is only $ 29 (pretty good deal for the area), but I just wasn’t in the mood for a manicure ehh. The lady did ask if I wanted the spa pedicure for $ 55, but she wasn’t pushy about it after I declined. She did a good job of cleaning and filing my nail — a short foot and shoulder massage was included as well. Overall, I’m happy with my experience there (polite service, comfortable pedi, and clean environment), although I wouldn’t say I was blown away.
I’ll definitely be back. Note that walk-​ins are easily accommodated; while I was there, I saw two girls walk-​in on a Sunday afternoon for mani/​pedi without a hitch.
