Went here with a group of people on a Saturday night… staff was courteous and had us seated right away. We all shared a bunch of appetizers including oysters, salads and the fresh mozzarella, all delicious, and then I had the mushroom ravioli, also very good. This was generally a pleasant experience although it did get a little loud later on in the night. Definitely would go back to try some of the other entrees or get some happy hour oysters for $ 1!

Walked up to this place cold sans-Yelp browse/review and it was great! Walked right in for a party of 2 for about 9pm on a Saturday(the wait for outside was about 1 hour). The interior is super trendy, casual, and really nice. The hostess guy was great, sat us immediately and was really friendly. Our server was really attentive, gave great suggestions and followed up whenever we needed anything. They also were more than wiling to refill our bread basket :). I ordered the mushroom ravioli and was amazing, my bf ordered the rosemary chicken and it was a great portion(takes 25 minutes), but well worth the wait. They have a corkage fee of $ 18 if you want to bring your own wine. Overall, a really good option that is unusual for the area, which is filled with mostly holes in the wall. This is an actual nice restaurant that is great for bringing friends/etc before going out in LES.

Wow! Walked in here solo for a late night dinner after work on a Tuesday and I was super impressed! It was really hard deciding what to get, which is usually a good sign for me. The house made ravioli and salads were very tempting, but ultimately I went with the trout: it was perfectly crispy on the outside, seasoned like a dream, and the sautéed kale it came with was a great compliment! Light, tasty and very satisfying. The service was friendly but not overpowering as a solo diner. I would come back just for the trout, not to mention all the other dishes I wanted to try(especially after smelling the party’s next to me dishes!). Also, awesome music playlist. I was grooving :)

We went for brunch. Place was empty when we arrived at 12:30 but we decided to try it anyway. Food wasn’t bad, probably would be great for a small town but was just OK for a brunch spot in New York City. Server had a slight bit of an attitude. Womens bathroom light was out. Nothing horrendous but nothing amazing. If you like this place, you’ll love Schiller’s, which is down the street and feels the same but better décor, service and food :)

The chicken is unbelievably good! Had to go back a second time during a recent weekend in the city. Super cool/attentive staff(thanks Jake) and awesome music. Will definitely be back as soon as possible.

I cannot believe all these bad reviews. We had $ 1 oysters. They were super fresh. We ordered steak, it was very tender, juicy and mouthwatering. Staff was very friendly. The interior was really cool, looking like it was an old French café. I felt like I was in New Orleans. The only down thing was I had to call our waitress a couple of times. So if they could improve that, I‘d give 5 stars. I‘m definitely coming back to try all other dishes.

Bruschetta was good but nothing crazy. Gnocchi itself was OK but the sauce was definitely straight out of a can. The ravioli were terrible. Tasted like supermarket ravioli with the same canned tomato sauce as the gnocchi. Its not often that I leave a review. But when I feel like I am wasting money, I feel it is my duty to warn people.

This place is fantastic! I came here on a Friday just as the warm spring weather was arriving. We had an 8:15pm reservation for 4– not hard to get and they were very nice when half of the group showed up 15 mins late :) Décor: beautiful, cozy and trendy. Everything was a breath of fresh air. Accent lighting in a dimly, yet appropriately, lit space made conversation seem private and safe. The place was spotless, and the wait staff was extremely attentive to cleaning up empty glass & dirty dishes. Service– the bartender was great! Very nice, started conversation with everyone and really had a good time making drinks– even when presented with many many orders at a time! Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu and made great recommendations according to each of our wants. FOOD: start with the bruschetta– literally the freshest tomato & basil around! The grilled portobello mushroom was a smaller appetizer, probably better for two people, but still very nice. I had the Hand Made Pappardelle w/Wild Mushroom Cream Sauce and it was just perfect. If you love cream sauce like me, you’ll know there is a fine line between heavy and the right about of sauce, and they do it perfectly. Two of the girls got the Seared Salmon with mashed potatoes, vegetables, lemon capers & extra virgin olive oil… If you’re trying to eat clean & gilt free — this dish is for you! Simple, great flavor, and super clean. The 4th friend went with the Clam special, which looked tasty… Just not my cup of tea :) truffle fries were also a great share for the table and super truffle flavor!

Me and my party walked the LES in search of a place with 4 seats and food without a wait on a Saturday night. We stumbled along this place and were excited to eat… but that went away fast. Here’s the gist of it. Our server asked us if we wanted bread for the table. We said yes and all she brought was a basket of bread and olive oil. No plates…2 of my party members ordered pasta with meatballs and the meatballs were not fully cooked. One sent the dish back and order French fries instead(she was totally grossed out) and the other sent the dish back and requested that the meatballs be fully cooked. The staff was extremely aggravated by this. I ordered a burger with fries and was not impressed. It was blah. Our waitress didn’t check on us once to make sure everything was ok. I won’t be back. Blah food and bad service.

Farmhouse was a wonderful surprise! I was a big fan of the restaurant’s décor. The night I went to dinner there was one of the coldest nights(ever) in NYC, but once inside I felt instantly warm. Our waiter was so sweet and made us one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. We ordered the local mozzarella and the goat cheese beet salad for an appetizer then I got the roasted chicken. The food tasted fresh and delicious. I also really appreciated that the menu feature a lot of local ingredients. Although we went for dinner I would love to come back for brunch — the menu looked amazing! Giving it 4 stars because I wish there was more of a dessert selection.

Love Farmhouse! Have been there for brunch and drinks many times, and have nothing but good things to say. The atmosphere is calm and the décor is beautiful, the food is great and the service is top notch. Highly recommend the roasted chicken — perfectly satisfying. I frequent Farmhouse and love getting drinks there after work!

I can’t say I was impressed with their brunch here. Portions were big considering, but overall the taste was just okay. Presentations was snapchat worthy as well. What I didn’t like was that the French toast was made with burger buns, I was expecting more of a traditional French toast made with white bread. It was just a bunch of burger buns flattened and stuck together. The berry also didn’t taste quite fresh, I didn’t like the fake syrup mixture with the berries. Other than that, a pretty standard place to get brunch. They have happy hour from 4 – 7, have yet to try, but will give it another try.

Had a great eggs Benedict and coffee for a brunch for one. Was really happy with the service. Both the hostess and the waitress were very attentive. Instead of the traditional English Muffin the poached eggs, ham and hollandaise sauce was served on a large piece of toast. At first I was a little disappointed but after a few bites I was very delighted. Coffee was fresh and brewed strong. It seems like it would be great for a group. It wasn’t very crowded at about 1230 but this is before the holidays so maybe it’s just slow. All and all I was very satisfied with my experience and would recommend it to my friends.

Great looking place. For the most part the food was pretty good, however my salmon, cooked a little to much tasted just ok and the vegetables that came with it were boring. Chocolate cake for desert was terrific. Tasted the pasta and it was good. Mussels were great except there was an unopened one that I just left and there was no comment from the manager. For 4 with tip and a $ 50 bottle of wine, I could only give 2 stars. Décor and atmosphere are great.

Horrible service. The staff there is beyond incompetent. The host told us he didn’t know how to use open table and completely messed up our reservation and couldn’t seat us. Will not be back!

Zero stars if possible I don’t normally do this and I know how hard the restaurant buisness can be having been a partner at one. However when service and courtesy is this bad I have to mention something. Because service was horrible and I didn’t even get to eat ruining the night I was just trying to get into your restaurant last night but your system or host failed miserably. I had made a reservation on open table early that day and had recieved email confirmation. When I get there the host tells me he will not have a table for me for a long while. He had no estimate and nothing to say but that he does not understand open table. Then he says he will try and call some of the people that have reservations to see if they are coming but never does. Also he mentions he will introduce us to his friend at ten bells across the street but again then never does. In the end we left after much delay and absolutely no sincerity. Lastly because you guys failed to cancel my reservation at that moment I lost out on another reservation at a close by restaurant and by the time we get there they are full. Because open table will not allow two reservations at once and you guys failed to clear my apparent useless and non existent reservation at your restaurant. I have to say this outrageous. I live in the city have been eating out at restaurants all around they city and have been using open table for years. And this kind of awfulness has never happened. Even at some of nyc’s nicest restaurants some times there is a delay with tables or something, but at least there they give you an estimate, apologize, and provide you with some courtesy. Also frankly if you knew there was a problem with they system and you were overbooked you could have called me ahead of time and I could have at least made alternative plans. That I would have understood. But to not let me know until I am at your door is ridiculous and rude. Also saying you don’t understand opentable is not the best excuse. Hell I have not used open table on the restaurant side but having used it for years and talked with hosts and managers I have a pretty decent grasp on how it works. And it would have been easy to know you don’t have the tables and to call me ahead of time to let me know. Especially since your host even thought to call people about their reservations. Although he failed to actually bother to do it. So yeah bad service

The service was terrible. My waiter knocked water all over me and didn’t apologize. Following that he walked away and never came back to give me extra napkins to clean the mess. Overall, he seemed totally out of it and almost knocked into one of us when placing food on our table. The food was good but I would never come back given the terrible service. There were three waiters/waitresses in a half empty restaurant and none of them seemed that attentive.

Mediocre at best, the service was frantic and the food was depressing. The restaurant looks nice and there is plenty of seating on a Saturday night. The menu had a lot of potential. The price was decent for the quality, but overpriced for experience

A lovely surprise the other evening. I used to visit the French place that had occupied the space but had never quite found its footing. The oysters were good as was the hanger steak. A relatively good cut which was tender and well seasoned. The whole dining room was very aromatic. There were some nice wines on the list and we enjoyed a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The prices were very reasonable. This is definitely one I would return to.

Great spot, great service, great food. Rotating specials, pastas, lots of variety on the mains(fish, red meat, poultry). Entrees range from $ 11 to $ 18. Happy hour from 4−7p. Includes $ 1 east coast oysters and $ 5 beers on draft. Tristan will greet you with a friendly smile and awesome service. The staff is equally as friendly and helpful; ask for Milosh if you need to schedule a special event. A local gem. Not overcrowded and also a nice date spot.

My friends who live in the area swear by this place and have taken everyone they know to it since it opened. In an area that has such a huge selection of great restaurants, it’s saying a lot that people want to come back over and over after trying Farmhouse. When I finally tried it for myself, it lived up to my high expectations. My one gripe is the name. To me, Farmhouse sounds like a generic farm to table themed place that you could find anywhere. But once you visit you’ll see that between the killer ambiance, amazing menu, and great service, it’s by no means generic! We made a large reservation somewhat last minute on a Saturday evening and they were nice enough to accommodate us. The table was a teeny bit tight for about 10 of us, but it felt like a cozy family dinner and we couldn’t be happier bumping elbows and sharing some bottles of wine over candlelight. The menu offers a lot of variety, from brunch dishes to an entire ravioli section to steak and seared salmon. There’s nothing super weird on there, which is kind of refreshing. It’s just classically well-prepared food. I really enjoyed my spaghetti and meatballs which at $ 15 is a bit pricey, but probably about the same price at a touristy place in Little Italy for WAY better quality than most of those spots. Another hit is the organic roast chicken. I’m not usually one to order chicken when I’m eating out(it’s often the most boring selection on the menu), but this one is flavorful and huge. The mashed potatoes on the side are delish as well. I really liked how simple the dessert menu was, also. You’ll see things like apple pie and chocolate cake. Again, it may seem boring but trust me — it’s not. If you want a straightforward meal that will leave you full and happy without breaking the bank, I highly recommend Farmhouse.

Came here for dinner after the place my friend and I had decided to go to was closed for renovation. Usually, the restaurant is quite busy but when we arrived, it was completely empty much to my surprise. We ordered the Seared Salmon, the Handmade Parpadelle and a side of fries. The salmon was cooked really well and the mashed potatoes that came with it was amazing. The parpadelle was really creamy. The fries were okay. Nice and crispy, but just average fries. I would definitely come here again, if I have another chance.

One of my good friends refer me to this place but I have to say: The service is very very slow!!! The food is great for the price and the waitress was very nice. Wine was good! The place is cute and charming if you want to have a date, a relax night but honestly people from NYC love a good fast service. We waited a little more than 30 minutes for an appetizer! Here you find organic and vegetarian selections of food. I would highly recommend it for the food but please come here with extra time.

I really wanted to like this place. After an afternoon of urban hiking, my husband and I came across Farmhouse. The ambience and décor are perfect. We loved the open windows, letting the breeze and sound of the city in. The service was attentive and friendly. The menu had me feeling very optimistic that we had found a gem of a place. We ordered the soup of the day, that had an option of being either served hot or cold. I opted for cold. In addition we ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, a beet and goat cheese salad and the pan roasted trout with kale. The tomato soup had a wonderful silky texture and the addition of a basil oil swirl was a nice touch. However, the flavor did not have much depth and after several bites it merely tasted like vegetable stock. It really could have used more basil and quite frankly more tomato. Making a really good tomato soup myself, the addition of tomato paste or sun dried tomato does the trick to amp up the richness that you can’t achieve from the roasted tomatoes alone. The beet salad was presented nicely with large chunks of beets with beautiful greens and an appropriate amount of walnuts and goat cheese. I love roasted beets and make them often. These beets were tasteless and had no hint of the sweet earthiness that makes them so good. The vinaigrette was so light that it didn’t help the flavor profile. If the beets had tasted like beets it would have worked beautifully. When I ordered the raw oysters, I specifically asked for lemon wedges to go with them. The oysters were shucked nicely. However I noticed two small wedges of lemon on the ice bed and a small cup of mignonette sauce in the center. I was given a nearly empty bottle of tobasco sauce to accompany them. The server told me to let him know if I needed more lemon. The mignonette was too strong and didn’t have the light sweet flavor you expect from a shallot. One of the oysters was smaller than the tiny fork provided with the tray. I didn’t ask for more lemon only because I felt like they were already being stingy. At least 4 oysters were placed on the ice in such a way that the liquor drained out. Every oyster lover knows that is the best part! Lastly, my husband’s trout was headless, over seasoned and dry. I am used to preparing trout so that it maintains its plump texture. And I have to ask, what chef in his right mind takes the head off of these? To top it all off. The servers, though attentive, never inquired about our satisfaction with the food. It almost seemed as if they didn’t want to ask. Unfortunately the ambiance could not overcome the lack luster food and poor attention to detail coming from the back of the house.

This is the first place in the LES that serves happy animals. I will only trust meat served here. No impact to the environment and yummy food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The space is roomy and relaxed. It’s like a kitchen away from home. The food is simply prepared as to preserve the taste of the great ingredients. If you want a great meal that is great for your body, come have a meal here.

I love the ambiance here. When I step inside, off freakin Ludlow street no less, I feel calmer, somehow more soothed, and way more sophisticated than I have any right to feel. It’s that whole French bistro vibe they’ve got going on, but then they serve Italian food, which is suits me just fine. I ordered the pappardelle in a mushroom cream sauce($ 15). The portion is generous, but it’s not overly rich. If you’re looking for something drenched in a heavy cream sauce you won’t find it here. Their french fries are also perfect. The brunette bartender is awesome and friendly, she has a name that I insist on forgetting over and over. All the staff here, including the owners, are really awesome people who put a lot of pride and work into what they do. ETA: Oscar the bartender is also really great, and they have $ 1 oysters some nights! ETA2: Wednesday is jazz night next door at Chloe(upstairs). I came to see the live band and then headed to Farmhouse for dinner, had a fantastic night :) Edited to add 3: Their specials are off the hook. The mussels provencal and tuna tartar with wasabi are serious winners.

I love this place. Last night my fiancé and I were in a gloomy state of mibd and decided to treat ourselves with a meal out. We looked on open table and found this new spot in the neighborhood. Getting points for eating always cheers me up. Farmhouse serves food that truly reflects its name. The food is simple, fresh, and delicious. All the meat comes from a farmer upstate that engages in humane, old school practices. Thus none of that factory farm garbage you’ll eat at pretty much all of the other restaurants in the neighborhood. No hormones, no antibiotics. animals with room to roam, I believe matters. Stressed out animals, according to me, David Chang, and many other great chefs give off bad tasting meat. Back to Farmhouse. I ordered the simplest of dishes: spaghetti and meatballs. This was the fracking best spaghetti and meatballs I may have ever had in my life… ever. The sauce is clearly homemade. It tasted bright and has small chunks of tomato in it. You can taste the sweetness of the tomatoes. Its not overly stewed and excessively herbed out like they serve at Sauce up the street. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The meatballs… oh lord… beef and divine. So many restaurants will give you a dry, nasty, crumbly meatball. Here they have it moist and so full of flavir. Albeit Meatball Shop has a softer meatball, but their original(plain) meatball doesn’t have the same kind of flavor. Fiancé had the basalmic steak. Its was delicious. But not nearly as beautiful and perfect as my dish. Yes… in this case, a steak is just a steak. The spaghetti and meatballs was way better. I…can’t get over how lovely it tasted! Plus, the prices were just right. Bathrooms clean, although cramped. And waitstaff so polite, speedy, and nice!
