I wouldn’t go to any other Dentist except Dr Mederios! I have been using him for over 10 years now. I have to say I am not a great patient but he always makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. He does a great job explaining step by step and takes his time with me. I would total recommend him to anyone.

GREAT dentist! I have been going to Dr. Medeiros for a few years now and will keep going as long as there’s an L train in the city. I have referred two people and both have been really content with the outcome of their experiences. I understand people who have had bad experiences at the dentist, but I mean c’mon it’s not like going to the dentist is equivalent to going to Bergdorfs with a black AMEX. Seriously, get it together, this is only a hygienic routine twice a year unless you have serious underlining issues.
Dr. Medeiros is truly the bee’s knees of dentists in NYC! Going to the dentist in general has never been fun for me due to having a history of cavities, blame it on genetics or my excess love for candy. Yet Dr. Medeiros and staff always makes it comfortable and a priority to look into any of my concerns and the man can really give you the best novocaine shot eveeeeeerrrrr! Seriously, easy breezy!
The staff is great, attentive and quick to let me know if there have been insurance issues. Nothing is ever easy dealing with insurance companies, have you ever called your insurance and been a happy camper post phone call?
Needless to say, I highly recommend his services and will continue to be a loyal patients as when you find something great in this city, you better keep it before people find out about it!

I think there are a lot of misconceptions in the reviews below. I will start by saying I am a medical doctor and also that I never met Dr. Medeiros until today.
First and foremost, Dr. Medeiros is not a scam artist. He is not «findings» things to fix that don’t need to be fixed. This is a SERIOUS problem in the dental profession, or for that matter, many fee-​for-​service professions. He is a professional. Maybe he is not overly serious but he knows what he is doing and has integrity.
I have gone to many dental offices and been told that I have a significant number of issues but when I ask more details or want to look at the xrays, the dentists are not open to sharing the information or are often times incorrectly overdiagnosing issues in an attempt to increase my fees.
Today, Dr. M shared all the information with me. When I left the office, I was given a medical plan with each tooth identified and the actual issues that need to be fixed and an actual itemized price list. I have never seen any dentist do this. Most of them realize that the patients do not know what needs to be done and typically do whatever they want and send you a bill afterwards that is over the top. They take advantage of your acute pain and fears and capitalize on them. He is not doing that.
I realize that a few of the other reviewers have had issues with the dental assistant. My experience was not distressing and it was fairly normal to most of my cleanings.
Quite honestly, if you understand the importance of your teeth to your overall physical health, you will realize that the crux of a good dental office is the dentist dealing with your critical issues, not the cleaning portion of the exam. On these issues, I think Dr. Medeiros is doing an excellent job. I will definitely recommend him to all of my colleagues.
Finally, in regards to issues with billing, I don’t think any of the commentors on here understand that the insurance companies create 99% of the issues with your billing. This office, like mine, and many other medical practices, do their best to fight with the insurance companies to get fair payments. If patients were teleconferenced in on even 1 phone call with the insurance companies that we deal with, I think there would be a 180 degree change in opinion on who is truly incompetent.
My advice is, if you want excellent dental care, see Dr. Medeiros. Or, if you prefer, you can head to a beautiful slick clinic and be charged insane fees on issues that don’t even need to be repaired.
Oh, and for the «Nazi comment» below, I sincerely hope you are only using this analogy if you actually have survived a concentration camp and genuinely feel that this was similar to that experience. Otherwise, you should educate yourself and perhaps read a few books about the holocaust. It’s extremely disrespectful, disheartening, and disgusting to use in jest.

In response to the owner’s response, please re-​read; you did not address the issue I had which is with your assistant. I have had many dental cleanings and this was the most distressing. Read what I wrote about her behavior and callous attitude. I wrote the review in order to protect other people who have a dental phobia from having to go through the same thing.
I think it would befit you to consider your patient’s experience and take it seriously. I used over the top language because humor is my way of dealing with something that made me cry.
I hope you reconsider what I am saying.

WARNING: This office is a mess and they cannot get their billing straight. I’m sure there are multiple more pleasurable experiences elsewhere in NYC. There are too many things in this world to squabble over than a bill they negligently failed to file with insurance.
I’m obviously not the only one that has encountered dishonest business ethics and practices here.
Despite Dr. Medeiros being eye candy, there’s nothing else to see here.

Dr. Madeiros is THE BEST! He is a consummate professional and really cares about his patients. I highly recommend him. He is awesome!

I went for a a regular cleaning and exam and can’t say I have ever had this much fun at the dentist. The staff is warm and upbeat, Dr. Medeiros is really easy to talk to and I felt he was very attentive during the exam. Nice office, very clean and comfortable with TV’s and magazines (current/​pop culture/​fashion). The staff and Dr. Medeiros had me laughing within a few minutes of being there and I instantly felt comfortable. I am so glad I found this office!

The entrance and waiting area is a little dingy and there’s nothing particularly fancy or state of the art at this neighborhood dentist office, but the staff makes you feel very comfortable and the service is top notch. First came in for a cleaning and eval, the hygenist was very friendly and pretty quick and did not judge my bad flossing skills. Second time I saw Dr. George Medieros for a dental procedure and he was easygoing and professional. I’m a fan

Recently went back for another appointment. Sylvia has moved on to other opportunities. She will be missed. However, Vivian is great! The place has a fun but professional feel. Always a pleasure to go. Most def the best dentist in the area!

Full disclosure: I hate going to the dentist.
Everybody at excel is so friendly and they keep a warm, jokey, atmosphere that it eases the pain of going to the dentist.
The only reason I did not give them 4 stars is that i just can’t bring myself to say «I’m a fan» of going to the dentist.

I went to Excel Dentistry for the first time in October last year; I made it clear that I was not there for a cleaning, but had a concern for my tooth. Turned out I needed major dental work, and Dr. Medeiros began preliminary work. Dr. Medeiros was professional, helpful and answered all of my questions. He explained everything accurately. His staff altogether is professional and willing to answer all of your questions.
I later visited Laurie for a cleaning and she does take a number of x-​rays. Dr. Medeiros and his staff make the visit to the dentist easy and keep the atmosphere friendly. He also makes himself available to his patients as needed.
I recommend this dentist as they meet all requirements for a dental office and have fun too.

I love this practice. I have been 3 times now and have always enjoyed my visits. The hygienist and Dr. Medeiros are very attentive and thorough. The technology is up to date and I love being able to watch as the dentist examines my teeth.
