Eugene O’Neill Theater

The show itself was fantastic. Theater is typical small broadway theater with a lot of charm. We were in the last orchestra row and able to see with no problem. What I really REALLY didn’t like was the people standing behind, leaning on the railing. Apparently they sell tickets to people to stand in back of theater. Who wants someone standing over them during a show? I felt like I was at a concert hall. The first half I had someone cackling in my ear then after intermission I had another coughing over me for the second half.

Very nice theater! we saw the Book of Mormon and it was hilarious. Any seat in the house was great, and the snack selection was perfect. The seats were a little squishy and someone who is a bit larger might have a hard time fitting in the seats with people on either side. I would suggest seats in the upper balcony if that is an issue.
Very clean, very small and overall a great experience!

Been here twice to see BOM. Don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. «traffic» flows nicely both in and out at the end of the show. Sat in balcony both times. Front from of the lower balcony was ideal. I would not want to sit in the seats any longer than I did but it was sufficient.

Saw Book of Mormon here. Sat in limited view seats 4 rows from the stage and could see everything except for the very far left corner — it did not diminish enjoyment of the show. The theater itself is old and small which makes it great for BOM. The men’s restroom is tiny and fairly obnoxious before, after, and during intermission. Somehow a few guys managed to drop a deuce amongst the hundred or so guys funneling in and out of a space the size of a large walk-​in closet which made for a cool game of «try to hold your breath while you piss» for the rest of us. The bar is weak, cash only, and hold onto your cheeks when they tell you it is $ 14 a beer.

This was a smaller but excellent, comfortable, and friendly theater where it was a pleasure to take in the BOOK OF MORMON!
We somehow through telecharge got the very last row in the orchestra center, up against the throngs of standing room only people. I was at first quasi horrified: In many venues this would have been a disaster for me. But no! The seats were comfortable, roomy, and even in the back row I was shocked that I COULD SEE EVERYTHING! No head, hair, hat blocked by view in the least! And the acoustics way back there were marvelous– Crystal clear. And back row was a straight shoot to the bar and to the bathrooms. If going back, I might even select that row again!
The bartender was great too. Champgane in a sippy cup and a double whiskey and ginger ale for the nervous theater attendee seated next to me. What fun!

Beautiful theater! It’s not even a block from the train and there are lots of food options nearby. Staff is nice. The women’s restroom was organized with a movie theater type rope to keep the line organized and to create two lanes of traffic.
The seats are comfortable but there isn’t much leg room. Definitely don’t bring shopping bags or anything! Acoustics are great and the view of the stage is really good from wherever you sit. Lots of space in between the sections in the balcony to get by.

The Quick: Every seat is a good seat, and there are multiple bars on each floor. Easy location to reach from the subways. Overall perfect performance spot.
The Details: Although this theater is not as fancy as the Vienna Opera House, it’s absolutely ideal for a Broadway performance. The theater is small enough that even the last row has a good view, the big enough but the actors cannot see you hysterically laughing and feeling slightly uncomfortable by their inappropriate jokes (Book of Mormon). I would gladly enjoy another play here.
The Damage: Depends on the play, but the drinks are insanely expensive. A double shot beverage is ~$ 20.

Great theater! We basically sat in the very back (right/​center mezzanine Row J, Seat 128 and 126) and still had great, unobstructed views of the stage. We could even see the actors facial expressions! This theater doesn’t have a balcony, so the mezzanine is the furthest up/​back you could sit. Its a smaller theater, so the views are good, prices are higher for tickets ($ 138 for Sunday matinée), and tickets sell out fast… not to mention the show Book of Mormon is awesome… but I’ll save that for another review :) Upstairs bar moved pretty quickly, a small glass of red wine (decent quantity, not so great quality) was $ 14 and came in a souvenir «sippy cup», along with $ 4 off you’re next food/​drink purchase. Overall we enjoyed the show and would love to return for a different show.

Going to be in NY. Don’t miss «The book of Mormon» musical. Definitely the best one seen in Broadway the last year. Clever, well played, sharp, well decorated. Really, one you should not miss.

The only downfall is that the theater only exits on one side. But the staff are excellent with corralling the masses. So it’s quite doable.
Gorgeously designed, comfortable seats, good sight lines, decent division of box office and theater-​proper entrances, to make the lobby more efficient.
Definitely one of the better designed Broadway houses!

Book of Mormon is the best Broadway show I’ve ever seen. To prove it, I’ve had the pleasure of watching this musical 4x over the past year. It’s a bit pricey though. But they have lottery tickets and tickets in the standing area (I’ve tried both). Standing area tickets are priced at 27 bucks and well worth every penny. You get a good view of the show and you will forget that you were standing for the past 2 and a half hours.

We went here to see Book of Mormon yesterday, and it was a great experience. The ONLY thing that prevents me from giving a full 5-​star review is that we ordered drinks which were $ 30 a piece. I feel like I’ve been to NYC enough times to be able to have an idea of prices at places like this, but that was really over-​the-​top for a smaller theater.
The theater itself is absolutely beautiful, and the seating was tight, but comfortable. The staff/​ushers were attentive and helpful, and the bathrooms were clean and tidy.
Absolutely worth going to this theater again!

My boyfriend surprised me with tickets to the Book of Mormon in May. If you you want cheap tickets, that’s completely fine since you can see the whole stage from anywhere you sit. The theatre is pretty small. They also have a concession stand during intermission for those who are thirsty or hungry. You can also get super cheap tickets for showing if you line up early in case it is not a full house. You would be in the filler seats, aka single seater. If you come with a date or friends and want to do it the cheap way, you’re more than likely to not even sit with them. I thought the seats were comfortable enough and I sat in it just fine, but that’s maybe cause I’m small. I didn’t ache was restless during the show. I thought it was fine. If anything, maybe bring a light jacket for after the show if you get chilled easily. Enjoy the show!

Another classic and nice Broadway theater. It helps to have a popular show like Book of Mormon playing at the theater. The theater is nicer on the inside than it may look from the outside. The seats are comfortable and the lighting and sound are good. Overall, good place to enjoy a musical.

I came here to see the Book of Mormon in May. I love that the production offers a lottery to win a pair of tickets for $ 32 each. I will admit that the wait for the box office was painfully long, even when there’s only one person ahead of us! The only reason why is because they only had one window open when we were there 3 hours before the show started. I’m surprised at how understaffed this theater is considering how successful this show is and how many clueless tourists would arrive with questions!
Anyway, the theater itself is well-​decorated and intimate, so I can’t imagine there being a bad seat in the house. There is a fair number of stalls available for the women’s restroom, and luckily I only had to go once before the show when there wasn’t a line. They serve alcoholic and non-​alcoholic beverages, but the lines looked long and the prices looked steep. They also have a cart of merchandise for sale in the back to commemorate your experience here, but the prices were steep enough for me to be satisfied with my playbill and ticket stubs thank-​you-​very-​much.
The theater is conveniently located on 49^th Street between 8^th Avenue and Broadway, which made it fairly easy to find from the 49^th Street Station on the N. While we were waiting for the names to be drawn for the lottery, my boyfriend and I used the restroom at the Mayfair Hotel next door, which has an elevator to bring you up one floor to the reception area, which made no sense. However, if you’re waiting for the show to start and need to answer nature’s call, the staff at the Mayfair is very friendly and inviting (although the bathroom isn’t very nice).

«The Book Of Mormon» was the best Broadway Show I have ever seen. I thank the producer and playwright to invite me and my family to a glorious night out. I was able to hangout with the cast. I enjoyed the cast so much. They are genuinely GREAT people. They give it their all!!!
I now have a BEAUTIFUL poster that every cast member signed. This will be proudly displayed on my wall at my office. I feel so blessed. Thank you all. THANK YOU!!!

it’s clean and there’s no lobby (which means no worrying about people idly milling around). so there’s that going for it.
however, the seats are small, uncomfortable, and the grade of the floor is too flat to compensate when you have a big-​headed doofus in front of you. my comfort level seemed worse than other Broadway theaters I’ve been to, and none of them were that comfortable to begin with.
seriously, if you want people to sit through an awesome production, why have seating which makes them ache and get restless?

Beautiful, ornate theater. Ok staff. I didn’t even try to use the bathrooms during intermission because of the mile-​long line, leaving me to believe there are not enough stalls for the ladies. My beef is with their ticket purchasing system. They do a lottery for Book of Mormon tickets (get there before 5 pm to enter the lottery), so I stood there for that and didn’t win any tickets, then I stood in line for the standing room tickets, which took an agonizing hour and a half! I don’t understand why this has to take so long, you swipe someone’s credit card, give them the ticket, swipe, give ticket, swipe, give ticket. Why did it take over an hour just to process the lottery ticket winners? Standing in the cold and wet rain outside under my umbrella, I finally flagged down one of the theater guys to ask and he said their system just went down. Fantastic. There’s got to be a better and faster way to process and let people purchase last minute tickets. It took so long that I barely had just enough time to run down the street, grab a slice of pizza and come back to the theater for the show’s start. My standing room ticket was center and did have a good view of the stage.

Came here for a second time to see the marvelous Book of Mormon. Obviously the show is best on Broadway but let’s talk the venue. It’s a nice little spot where it seems every seat you can see everything. We had second row so it was a great experience
Why it’s not five stars is because of the bathroom lines at intermission. It’s coordinated correctly but I just wish they would have more bathrooms to avoid the 100 person lines. The bar line moves quickly so they have the right ideas working. Looking forward to seeing another show soon even if it’s Mormon one more time.

This theater is located in Midtown Manhattan and was easily accessible from the subway, about a two block walk. After you get off, you immediately recognize that you’re on Broadway because of all the bright lights and huge signs everywhere.
We came here to see the Book of Mormon with our friends. I actually already had tickets for seats and my friends came up to the counter about an hour and a half before the show to see if they were any rush tickets available and they actually got some standing room only tickets! I wouldn’t rely on this method, especially if you’re just visiting for the weekend. The theater is a bit on the smaller side. seating for about 150 – 200? Judging from the map I saw online, it looked a lot bigger and appeared to have more seats.
We sat in the very back row of the center mezzanine and had a perfect view of the whole stage. We weren’t too far, or at least not as far as I thought we would be; maybe about 50 feet away from the stage. It was completely packed when we went but they are ushers everywhere to guide you.
The play was absolutely amazing the Eugene stage for this Broadway blockbuster suited it pretty well. Men’s Bathroom are downstairs and can get very congested easily during the intermission. The seats were comfortable and the theater was clean. Just make sure to look at pictures from other sites that show where your exact seat is in the theater to give you an idea before you purchase your tickets.

Allez à New York sans aller voir une comédie musicale, c’est comme si vous ratiez votre vie enfin PRESQUE. Les comédies musicales sont à New York ce que les films sont à Hollywood. J’avais donc acheté avec beaucoup de mal ma place pour la comédie musicale du moment, qui fait un carton (pour ça que cela a été compliqué d’avoir une place pas trop mauvaise, car c’était quasiment complet et une fois sur place, c’était complet !) et qui m’avait le plus plu en faisant mes recherches sur Internet: The Book of Mormon.
C’est là qu’on voit à quel point la TV peut être déformante. Je m’attendais à une salle immense, être placée trop sur le côté et du coup, avoir la scèné en partie coupée. Ce fut le cas, mais à peine. Le théâtre n’est pas si grand, je crois même que l’Olympia l’est bien plus. En conséquence de quoi, j’étais plutôt pas mal placée (rang J, place 23), je voyais bien les comédiens et leurs mimiques. Excellente qualité sonore et très bonnes lumières.
En bref un théâtre plein de charme.
