I had an appointment with Dr. Claire Wolinsky. She is amazing and cares about people. I highly recommend her!

This is a review for Dr. Claire Wolinsky, a dermatologist at Dr. Berkowitz’s practice.
This was my first time having an annual skin exam. I was nervous (a friend of mine was just diagnosed with a very serious skin problem), and, nervous because I didn’t know what to expect from the experience. For myself, it’s not every day you meet someone and then immediately get naked on a table.
The office is clean and modern, located one block from the 1 Train. The front desk was easy to deal with and very efficient with paperwork and scheduling. I would like to note, however, that this is the second time I’ve seen paperwork to keep a credit card on file with a doctor’s office, in case your insurance doesn’t cover all charges. I told the front desk I did not feel comfortable keeping this information on file and, at that point, they said it was optional. In this age of identity theft and information security concerns, they should mention the optional part upfront.
But I digress…
Dr. Wolinsky was welcoming, friendly and thorough. She explained each step of the exam process, what she was looking for, and thoughtfully discussed my concerns and questions (I had several.). It was an excellent first visit with a new doctor. I feel comfortable with her diagnosis and follow-​up plan. And, I will be recommending her to friends/​family that are looking for a new dermatologist.

Not sure about Dr. Berkowitz, because I never met him. I was running 5 minutes late and let reception know per a call. «no problem» was the response. I arrived and reception said «the doctor left for lunch». She acted like she was a bouncer at a bar, and couldn’t care less. Did she not let the doctor know that I would be there 5 minutes late? Was his sandwich more urgent than my appointment? Not sure how Dr. Berkowitz allows this person to work there. My appointment was for something rather serious as well. «Well, it’s just a follow-​up». Worse if he just left… either way, terrible practice

Love this office, the staff is amazing, never have to wait to be seen. I have not ever had a bad experience with the office or staff. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and make sure you are receiving the proper treatment. Dr. B is knowledgeable, super intelligent and explains everything thouroughly.

Dr Berkowitz is extremely smart, nice, knowledgeable and will take the time to explain things to you.
However a doctor’s visit is more than just the doctor. The office manager, I found to be extremely unhelpful. My prescription was filled incorrectly by their office 3 times and each time I called back to get it resolved the office manager made it sound like it was not worth her time to work with me. That was strike one and two.
Then when I came in to have my appointment (which I had made a point of telling them was very challenging because of my work travel) they realized my insurance was not current. The office manager curtly asked if I would come back at another date. Frankly, that is is ridiculous. How about I just call my insurance company? Which I did and got it resolved in 5 minutes. Much better than another morning lost. Geesh, I cannot be the first person to have that issue. Strike three.
I won’t be back, I understand that it’s probably annoying to have clients with specific needs, but come on, that’s why it’s a job. Work with people to resolve their issues, don’t dump it all back on them.

After trying numerous dermatologists I finally found Dr. Berkowitz after a referral from my GP. He is so smart, friendly and unlike almost every other doctor, doesn’t rush you. He seems equally skilled in medical and cosmetic dermatology, which is what I was looking for.
His staff is the best medical/​assistant/​secretary staff I’ve ever encountered as well. The office is gorgeous, soothing, modern and private. And I never have to wait when I have an appointment and it isn’t difficult to get an appointment. And they accept my insurance (formerly Aetna, and now Blue Cross)
Sounds pretty awesome, right?!

Dr. Berkowitz came highly recommended by my other doctor. As it turns out, he takes my insurance so I went just as my doctor ordered.
Location is amazing, super convenient to public transportation and very close to my home. The office… WOW. modern, chic, nice and clean. Looked like it was taken from pages of a very chic magazine. The staff are amazing, helpful, friendly and polite.
Dr. Berkowitz… if there’s 6 stars, I’d give it to him. Knowledgeable, friendly and seem to really care about issues why I came. He explained everything and the process, steps and answered all my questions, he’s very thorough.
In short, I love Dr. Berkowitz, he is just an amazing dermatologist.

I’m new to the area, so because I was quickly able to schedule an appointment, I took it before I did any research. I’m interested to read what other’s experiences were like. The office and waiting room is very nice. Nice location and building.
The Dr. is very good about explaining options to you. I will most likely go back.
