I used to live in Inwood and moved but come back for business and am fortunate enough to stay in the neighborhood when I am back. I tried most of the chinese restaurants in the neighborhood and then came across Empire. My «test» is for the hot and sour soup. I like when they make it to order and not take it out of a pot. They did indeed do that but I was not impressed with the soup at all. The flavor was very bland and I had an extra packet of hot sauce and duck sauce that made it a little more tasty. I also had the roast pork lo mein. While it was tasty, it was only about half the amount that the other places offer for the same price. There are, unfortunately, other places that offer the same kind of food with better portions and flavor.

I was persuaded to try this place based on its stellar reviews but I’m sad to say I was really disappointed with my meal. My general tso was dry and so overcooked it tasted burnt. Crab rangoons were hard, flavorless and didn’t even come with sauce. My boyfriend’s chicken with broccoli was good though and the whole meal was pretty cheap. But I guess you get what you pay for.

When the chinese place I ordered from near my house went out of business, I decided to give Empire a try for delivery. I was pleasantly surprised! The food arrived hot, it was quite tasty, the portions were ample, the food didn’t take too long to arrive, and I was pleased in that, «It’s not my old staple… but it’s a good replacement» sort of way

I have never had Chinese food so good I felt compelled to write a review. This is bar none the best Chinese in the Heights. They do brown fried rice, which always comes with egg(which usually costs extra at other places!) which gives it lots of good flavor. The veggies are stir fried just right, nice and crispy not overcooked and drowning in oil. Tons of veg meat dishes. Try the Empire special veg garden dish. The sauce is delish and not like an other, and it comes with some type of chewy bean curd which I like. The sushi rolls are good too, tuna has always been fresh. I haven’t tried the malaysian menu, but I will one day for sure. I always order from here when having chinese or sush. Go enjoy!

I’m so upset this place doesn’t have any reviews! This is honestly the best chinese takeout in all of washington heights! They are quick and delicious. I have never had any problems with my food here and they even give you sushi free if you spend 10 bucks! Delicious amazing food a must have at least once!
