Gorgeous, classy clothes. I just came back from their sale. I got a $ 450 dress for $ 49! The salesperson was very nice also.

Simple but cute. This is a store that definitely benefits from existing in the Mad Men era. The styles are all fairly restrained. Mostly dresses with pencil skirts and A-​line skirts. I just picked up a cute, white, brocade dress that (once I alter the neckline) I can wear to job interviews, dinner parties, church, meeting someone’s parents… They’re those kind of clothes. The fabrics are nice and sturdy but lightweight. This is not really a store for the breezy chiffon and silks I usually go for but I think everyone needs a piece like this in their closet. You could probably find something for any silhouette here but it’s mostly for silhouettes that benefit from pencil skirts. The A-​lines are still tight at the waist and bust.
The salesperson was very nice and put up with a lot of nonsense from me as I debated over alterations. If you’re going to head over do it soon because they’re having a big sale with significant markdowns.

Love love love their items! I just bought a winter coat there and can’t wait to wear ‘em! Good styles with fairly decent quality at low cost. Will definitely shop again!

Emmett McCarthy was apparently a contestant on Project Runway season 2 (the one season I didn’t watch!), but even without that knowledge, I could tell the store had beautiful, creative, and well-​crafted clothes. But when I saw the $ 500 price tag for a dress, I thought this wasn’t my kind of store, but then I saw their shoes…
One wall has all these amazingly stylish shoes that are super comfy cuz they have gel insoles built in or something. Every pair of shoes I tried on, I could see myself pounding the nyc pavement in… no need to carry extra flip flops or sneakers to walk around! The shoes are priced in the $ 150 – 300 range which I thought was very reasonable for their level of style and comfort (a rare combination, believe me, i’ve looked everywhere).
I ended up buying a pair of $ 300 knee-​high boots that I absolutely adore. And I think it’s a good deal considering a pair of cheapie boots from david z or aldo will cost $ 200+ anyways, may as well spend an extra $ 100 and get really nice (and COMFY) ones!
The sales guy that helped me (Ian?) was really nice too in a no-​pressure gay bff sort of way.
My only wish was that this store had a branch in LA *sigh*

Visited the store yesterday, and was really impressed. Was just browsing and not really looking to buy due to time crunch, but had been wanting to go for a couple of wks and was in the area briefly to popped in.
To my surprise, Emmett was actually in the store and was very friendly! He has some BEAUTIFUL designs in there, and things seem to be tailored perfectly from what I saw while I visited quickly. Also, I saw some of what I assume to be the new shoe line since the salesgirl mentioned they had a shoe sale going on in the back, and we only stayed up front… GORGEOUS. AND they feel like they would be super comfortable — little pillowy inserts are in the soles and it feels like it would be a true high heel that is actually not painful in the least! I am heavily considering going back and splurging on a pair since I didn’t have time yesterday to really try things on. Great shop. nice space. would definitely recommend!

I didn’t think it was possible, but I saw the ugliest pair of shoes known to man at this store this past weekend.
Now, I know what you are probably thinking, c’mon, there is no way that you can assume that these were the ugliest shoes in the whole wide world, right? Wrong, these were.
Imagine if you will, a mermaid shed her tail and was suddenly Darryl Hannah-​esque and developed the ability to walk around town with human legs in mermaid shoes. Then for shits ‘n’ giggles, add a really tacky silver bedazzled starfish on the front of these flats and deck it out with shimmery aqua green, turquoise and sea-​like colors and then, to make matters worse, include a strappy strap ballet slipper nightmare to the equation. Ya know, in case the glowing greenish-​blue atrocity eating your foot wasn’t bad enough, you can let it crawl up your ankle to really horrify the masses. Yep, they were that bad.
But what this store did have going for it were quite a few over-​priced purses that were awesome. One was this really yummy greyish aqua blue (not like the shoes!) baby’s ass soft leather bag. Way cute, but it was creeping into the $ 250+ range and homie don’t play that, so I passed. They also had a variety of spenny wallets for purchase, but all in all, nothing really jumped out at me and said, «Take me to your shoe closet or lose me forever.»

A terrific store with lovely designs (not such a fan of Emmett’s shoes, actually) but gorgeous dresses in normal, woman-​friendly silhouettes. I had no idea he was a designer from Project Runway until we had been in there for a while, and I was really impressed with what I saw.
My sister and I spent the day shopping in Nolita. She found the perfect, PERFECT little black dress at EMc2, complete with tiny rhinestone buckle. The cut, the draping, the detail and the utter chic simplicity made this a dress that would hold up for years and years to come. My little sister looked like Audrey Hepburn in her dress. I kvelled.
The salespeople were both very nice. The male salesperson on duty was the designer of all the coats in the store. I didn’t catch his name, but his coats were very sleek, and even the shearling shapes were slenderizing. Obviously, he’s a genius, if he can make shearling fabulous. My sister tried on, at his urging, a black leather trench that was so perfectly cut that I wanted to weep. She could have kicked Kelly Choi’s ass in it.
They really have a good thing going there. Oh – and in case you wanted a Tim Gunn bobblehead doll – they have them. And they talk!

I went to NYC to hang out with Unilocaler Camilla for her most fabulous bday this weekend, and when we were hanging out in Nolita, guess who we ran into? SO MANY designers from Project Runway! AND Tim Gunn. We apparently ran into a special event at Emmett McCarthy’s new store. Check out the pics.
The place was too packed for us to actually appreciate the contestant-​designed goodies, but if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll want to visit. Make it work!
