Elite Event: Robert Stuart Salon

Cute event and staff — happy to have something in UWS and it’s always fun to do things outside of restaurants. The staff definitely wanted to make sure everyone got a hair consultation, makeup application, or manicure — my hair is healthy and just needed a little trim. :)
I probably wouldn’t have put the check-​in, wine, and food all in front of the door — kept a little bottleneck — but the circular layout kept things moving.
I ended up booking a haircut and coming back a few days later. Thanks, Ruggy!

Different kind of event than usual. I opted to pretty much only do hair stuff since my nails are mangled anyways and a manicure would have been fruitless. I did enjoy hearing some tips on how to take better care of my mane but at the same time I felt like they offered tips that were way outside some peoples’ feasible budget range. Yes, I have insanely long hair that occasionally gets dry and frizzy and I don’t cut it frequently enough. Totally aware of this but a Keratin treatment that costs at a bare minimum of $ 350 depending on length can’t be the only solution. One of the staff did recommend products though and gave me samples (which are super appreciated!) for trying out. But it was pushed numerous times that I should splurge on getting this treatment. Eh. I watched Stephy get her hair braided by a pro and nibbled on some cheese and pretty delicious wine. It was still fun to check a new place out.

Had a lot of fun at this event, where Unilocalers received complimentary appetizers, gift bags, manicures, hair consultations (with discount if you book an appointment) and braiding. These procedures are a part of their myriad of offerings at Robert Stuart Salon.
Pros:
* Robert Stuart Salon is clean, spacious, and elegant.
* The food was absolutely delicious– I inhaled the prosciutto wrapped pears, brie cheese and caramelized onion bread bits.
* Gift bag: loved the Shu Uemura and Kerastase samples of shampoo & conditioner and Kerastase leave-​in cream! I’ve since tried them and I am very tempted to splurge on their products.
* My stylist was really sweet– she gave me an honest assessment of my hair and also made sure I got free samples before I left.
* Maki got her hair braided, and it looked spectacular– would love to try them out for weddings and special occasions
* Staff was so gracious and friendly. The hostesses did a good job in handling the near-​chaotic times when the place got really packed. The signup sheets helped!

This elite event was so much fun and certainly very different from the usual restaurant/​bar events.
Robert Stuart Salon offered mini beauty procedures such as manicures, hair consultations, hair braiding and more.
I had my hair braided with an inside out dutch braid and a super quick hair consultation which afterwards resulted in complimentary (and generous!) hair product samples specifically chosen for my hair type and condition.
My +1 also went for a hair consultation and we both ended up making future appointments since they were offering 20% to Unilocalers who made appointments that night. I’m aiming to get a wash and blow-​out right before Thanksgiving.
All of the stylists and desk staff folks were friendly and hospitable. Food-​wise the spread of nibbles was truly fantastic for meat-​eaters and vegetarians alike.
Thank you to Ruggy, the gang at Unilocal and the awesome folks at Robert Stuart Salon for putting together such a fantastic event and for the parting goodie bags! Hooray for wide-​toothed combs! *throws glitter*.

I’ve been slacking off on Unilocal especially with my reviews for events, but I just had to write a review for this one because I enjoyed it so much. I really like events that are focused on drinking and mingling, but it’s nice to once in awhile attend events that are a little more interactive.
Things I learned at this event:
1. We received hair assessments, make up applications, braids, and manicures, and I learned things tailored specifically to my face and hair texture.
I didn’t get a manicure because I have short, stumpy nails, but I did participate in the three other one-​on-​one sessions. I learned what I should do to my hair to make it less thick and flat-​looking, and Amanda created a beautiful side braid into a bun for me! If I only had two extra hands, I’d replicate it myself! I will use what I learned from observing her to try something similar.
2. Robert Stuart Salon is a hair, makeup, and nail salon with the warmest staff members.
We wrote our names down for the one-​on-​one sessions we wanted, and the staff members remembered my name and personally came to find me whenever a spot opened up. I was treated so kindly, with smiles and well-​wishes at all points. We also received complimentary bags filled with goodies, and even received Shu Uemura samples of shampoo and conditioner! The staff members were also so intrigued by the concept of the Unilocal Elite Squad, and I think I was able to persuade some to start reviewing!
3. Unilocalers are so kind. And beautiful!

What girl doesn’t love going to the salon? I was excited to have gotten into this event and even though it was raining out, the salon was full and buzzing when I arrived.
There were hair assessments, makeup sessions, mini manicures and hair braiding on offer. I signed up for everything except the manicure — I just got my nails done, so was already set on that front.
Kevin did my hair assessment and noticed that I needed new color. I had gotten highlights in the spring and they have been growing out. When I told him that I wanted to go back to black and he seemed disappointed. haha I guess he likes the color I have now…
He told me that my hair was dry and frizzy — it is. So he recommended fancy Shu Uemura color shampoo — love! He also hooked me up with a Kerastase sample for the frizz. Yay — love samples! His last recommendation was for a Keratin treatment if I wanted to combat the frizz. While I do like straight hair, I tend to love waves, so unfortunately, I wasn’t sold on that. Thanks anyways, Kevin — you were great! I only wished I asked him what cut he would recommend for my face shape.
Then I got my makeup done with Christine. I told her that I was really low maintenance, so she went light on the makeup, did a very natural blush for my cheeks and lids and a slick on neutral on the lips. My skin looked even and refreshed and she even gave me a lip gloss to take home! Score!
Lastly, I was in love with Jenna and Maki’s braids, so I signed up for my own little braiding session with Amanda. When I get tired of wearing my hair in a bun, I do a braid to keep the hair out of my face. She started with what I normally do and then continued it into a sweeping braid onto the other side. It was so quick and she made it seem so effortless. I got a lot of compliments from fellow Unilocalers and Robert Stuart himself on how cool my braid looked. Best of all, after I left the salon, I got a compliment from a complete stranger! I did what any good «customer» would do and directed her to the salon.
It was a fun night and I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Robert Stuart, all the stylists and staff at the salon and Ruggy. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming. They kept their cool with the onslaught of Unilocalers invading their salon. They constantly asked if we were doing okay and if we had gotten some samples and our goodie bags. The salon really excels in customer service! I would totally recommend them to friends in the neighborhood.

This was a fun, small intimate event at a nice salon on the UWS!
I enjoyed my make-​up session by Christina which is something I normally would not do. She used all Eve Pearl products which felt great on my skin. I even got a take-​away lip gloss which is always appreciated!
Other treats that were given by the salon were mini-​manicures, which I couldn’t partake in because I had a gel manicure! The stylists were also doing hair assessments and giving away sample products for your hair type. Unfortunately, I have very difficult, thick, curly hair which needs to be cared for by a specialist in curly hair. The guy who did my assessment was not a curly hair expert. (I wasn’t going to give up my current stylist anyway! She’s too important!)
We all walked out with great little goody-​bags of sample products. It was a fun evening of girly treatments and great to try a new place.
My only note: I saw a sign about cash-​only for services. I think that’s crazy for a salon! Salon treatments are expensive and I would want to charge these services. I understand TIPPING in cash only, but that’s different!

The wonderful people at Robert Stuart Salon treated us to a night of mini treatments, including makeovers, hair consultants, manicures, and braiding. Plus, they provided a great spread of wine and little bites!
I loved my makeup from Christina. I was in need of a mani, so this worked out great. I did a hair assessment with a stylist who gave me some good tips on my hair (split ends treatment, highlights). Really enjoyed the free samples and goody bags too.

Thoroughly impressed by the staff’s positive and upbeat attitudes, I almost didn’t want to leave. Stylists were very helpful and knowledgeable, Christine did a wonderful job on my makeup. I’m excited to use the products in my goodie bag and will be sending my real estate clients in the UWS here. Thank you for hosting us Unilocalers!!!

Salon event, yay!
Robert Stuart Salon hosted the elites and their +1s tonight for a night of pampering and fun. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by Robert himself and the rest of the lovely staff. Our coats were taken, wine was slipped into our hands and then the sign up process began!
Tonight they offered mini manicures, hair consultations, hair braiding and make up sessions. I was due for a manicure so I definitely jumped on that opportunity. The wonderful Nima did my nails in a pretty pink and I was more than delighted by the results. She was so pleasant to chat with and gave me wonderful advice on what to use to harden my awful, flimsy nails. Her nails looked absolutely incredible too. For any of you nail enthusiasts, she has an instagram showcasing her stuff — @nimsla !
For my hair consultation, David gave me the do’s and don’t do’s for my face shape. No bobs for me! With my weird, square face, I can pretty much only pull off the plain jane straight hair look or a loose wave. Not messin’ with what works! Less maintenance anyway.
The wait for make-​up and hair-​braiding got to be too long so we didn’t opt to wait for those. Instead we nibbled on the small bites offered — cheese, crackers, dips and this wonderful veggie focaccia.
Oh yea — goodie bags on the way out, yippee! We walked away with brushes and hair+nail product samples. I live for samples. I’m just a few hundred shy from Sephora Rogue yall.
