Elite Event: Five Mile Stone

This was my first Unilocal event, and I have to say, I was really pleasantly surprised. We walked into the bar and were redirected upstairs. Nice looking bar area, plenty of space to walk around, and a balcony to look over the street.
We sat by the bar and checked out the menu. They had two cocktails on their menu: 1) Deer Daisy 2) Swashbuckler. I ordered the deer daisy just because I love St. Germain, and my husband ordered the Swashbuckler. The Swashbuckler was okay, but the Deer Daisy was the kind of cocktail I would order… again and again. We both decided to stick with the Deer Daisy.
Servers started walking around with peanut butter hummus on cucumber and mini grilled cheeses. We both loved the grilled cheese. Perfectly toasted with the right amount and kinds of cheeses melted together. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the peanut butter hummus. I love peanut butter. I love hummus. You could taste both distinctively, but I’m not sure if I liked the combination of these two together.
The event was well put together (Thanks Ruggy!), and we look forward to our next event!

Its a shame that my husband and I never been to five mile stone even though we live so close to this place. Unilocal brought us here and we are pleased. The second floor has a small patio area we can hang out (but no glasses out there) and the set up upstairs is more intimate.
The drinks and food menu for that night was awesome, tasty and strong! Loved both drinks. Thanks ruggy for the invite! Now we know what to expect here and will be back for more…

Looking at all the pictures people took of the appetizers, I’m regretting not doing so myself, I don’t know why.
So far, this is my favorite Unilocal Event. Got to make some cool new friends & finally meet some people I’ve been dying to see. The drink menu was very limited but that’s alright; the Dear Daisy was enough to feed my addiction. I can’t say the same for the Swash Buckler; as Steven L. stated «it tastes like alcoholic cough syrup».
Free grilled cheese is always nice. So was the balcony casually overlooking 2^nd ave. Come to think of it, how many bars have balconies? I need to get out more.

Upon walking up to Five Mile Stone you could just tell from the outside looking in that it’s a New Orleans style bar randomly located in New York City. I hope the construction on the subway line will be completed soon because it really takes away from the place.
Once inside my plus one and I were told to head upstairs where there were plenty of tables and space for Unilocalers to gather and mingle.
The ‘Deer Daisy’ tequila drink was my favorite and the mini grilled cheese sandwiches were heavenly! I wish they hadn’t run out of this drink so early on, but it was really popular.
I’d like to go back and check out this place in the Spring. Maybe throw some beads from the balcony…

Akrati and I got there a little on the later side at 6:45 and were directed upstairs. Got to try the deer daisy, which was this lemon-​y drink with tequila. I haven’t had the best experiences with tequila — but I digress — this one was good! I also really enjoyed the bite-​sized mini grilled cheese sandwiches. We were too late to get a taste of the cucumber with peanut butter hummus but enjoyed seeing some old friends Maki and Jordan. We found 2 seats once we got there and situated ourselves so I totally forgot to check out the views and the balcony area! Guess that just means I have to come back.

Sweet Unilocal Event! The space was very intimate and venue was very airy and open. Five Mile Stone has taken over the two-​floor corner spot on 85^th and 2^nd with the wraparound outdoor balcony! Unilocal reserved the 2^nd floor for our event. Each of the two floors at Five Mile Stone have their own bar, and for our event the drinks of the night were the Deer Daisy and the Swashbuckler. Being a big fan of good tequila, I chose to stay with the well-​mixed and strong-​poured Deer Daisy, made with Cazadores Blanco tequila and St. Germain. They also passed around Miniature Grilled Cheese sandwiches, which were awesome and Cucumber chips with Peanut Butter Hummus. Unfortauntely I never got the see the Cucumber chip and Hummus.
Overall, a great place to get together with friends, just down the street from my first apartment in NYC. Big thank you to Ruggy and Five Mile Stone for hosting us!

Unilocal takes us to the UES/​Yorkville to none other than Five Mile Stone.
An intimate event in a private room of the bar upstairs, the place is reminiscent off New Orleans. This is perhaps the second such a venue we’ve had in the UES this year and a great way to discover or re-​discover Yorkville all over again.
Drinks kicked off with the Swashbuckler and Deer Daisy, both cocktails feature bitters the former with Bacardi 8, vermouth, and whiskey and the latter with tequila (Cazadores Blanco), an elderflower liqueur (St. Germain), lime juice and Regan’s. Both really hit the spot, but the crowd seemed to favor Daisy, overall.
The finger foods came out soon after, comprised of cucumber peanut butter hummus, and mini grilled cheese sandwiches. The former was as strange and eclectic as it sounds, and to me didn’t work well. The latter, which was familar was also the more popular of the two.
The balcony area was the main draw, as was the open air atmosphere it lends the whole area (downstairs too). A great intimate place with plenty of seating. Got to meet six new Unilocalers that night which is a record. A great find for which I’d definitely stop in again when I’m in the area, or a night out in the town.

This was my first Unilocal elite event! I enjoyed coming here and meeting new people. For my plus one I bought another fellow Unilocal elite who was waitlisted. We got here a little on the lateside (arond 6:45pm or so). Unilocal had reserved the entire 2^nd floor for the event so it was quite spacious and we were able to snag a couple of seats.
They had a couple of hors d’oeuvres — cucumber chips with peanut butter hummus and grilled cheese. Unfortunately, by the time we got there they had stopped serving the former and the latter I couldn’t try since I vegan and gluten free. I did however try the deer daisy drink (which had tequila, st. germain, lime juice and bitters) — which was awesome! Strong and slightly sweet — just how I like my drinks!
Although, this spot is in UES and far from where I work and live — if I find myself in neighborhood I would definitely spot by for a small bit and drinks!

Unilocalers were treated to a private party on the 2^nd floor of Five Mile Stone.
With all the crap and construction on the 2^nd ave line, it easy to miss this place. I’m glad we were treated to some tasty drinks and bites to shine some light on this place.
Drinks:
Swashbucker — A bit different and tangy, but also tasted very old fashioned.
Deer Daisy — Really refreshing and my favorite drink of the night.
Bites:
Mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches — Everything tastes better when it’s bite sized!
Cucumber chips with peanut butter — I thought it was weird at first glance, but it actually tasted pretty well together. I love peanut butter!
The Venue:
American bar and resturant with some solid offerings on their menu. The 2^nd floor has wrap around balconies for people spoting and spying.
The event wasn’t too crowded and there was room to mingle and meet new Unilocalers and old ones. The waiters were really nice and they were all on top of getting everyone drinks and making sure no one left thirsty!
Great Tuesday evening thanks to Ruggy @ Unilocal and Five Mile Stone. Will be back to try their brunch menu on the weekends!

Dope event! The second floor of Five Mile Stone is an excellent venue for a party. With fantastic views by the windows and balcony and comfortable mood lighting at all the booths you can’t go wrong!

How can you not like free swag?! This was a special time for me cause this was my very first Unilocal event/​yelp elite event as well! Honestly everyone from the staff at this place from other Unilocalers were super nice and very approachable to talk to! The drinks were flowing and the finger food to try was awesome! From this experience I would definitely go back to this place with friends and see more of what this bar has to offer and I can’t wait till the next elite event!

Swanky and open 2^nd floor of Five Mile Stone was reserved for this sweet YEE. There’s balcony space surrounding the whole area — perfect for enjoying a drink on this beautiful breezy day. I am pretty much never this far uptown but I love how these events have gotten me to explore new chill spots such as this one.
Drinks of the evening were the Deer Daisy and Swashbuckler. I went with the Deer Daisy and it did not disappoint. Made with mostly Cazadores Blanco and St. Germain, it was ridiculously strong! I made sure to eat before and was still woozy after half! Small bites included cucumber with peanut butter hummus and grilled cheese sandwiches on pretzel bread. These mini bites were so toasty and buttery, yum. The peanut butter hummus was also very interesting — can’t say that I’ve ever tried it or seen it anywhere.
Pretty intimate crowd tonight but always great to see old and new faces. Also got to grab some new Unilocal swag that I have not seen at previous events– tote bag! Will be using it to save 10 cents at Whole Foods, hha.
