My pair of ES’s are breaking in wonderfully.

There’s good and bad here… I have two pairs of ES jeans that are about 4 years old. One pair fits like a glove, has held up perfectly and is still a favorite denim. Love them. The other started showing signs of wear after the SECOND trip outside.
I love the aged look and fit of them when they were new, but the damaged pair behaved like denim that had been compromised by the manufacturer’s distressing process. I had them patched a number of times, which I my mind, added to their distressed charm… until one night when the butt tore out of them and the day the knee ripped out on an escalator at Saks. The extensive and unhidden attempts to correct failing denim is almost comical. The fabric fell apart within months of purchase. So sad. If this place had better customer service, I would buy from ES in a heartbeat.
Denim is an investment piece. I have great pieces that have lasted 10+ years in my collection… unfortunately, I don’t think my ES jeans will make the cut.
If you’re looking cute, expensive and disposable… these are the jeans for you.

Unfortunately my previously enthusiastic reviews of Earnest Sewn must now be tempered with experience. I now own 4 pairs which I loved at first. However 3 of the 4 pairs have become un-​wearable.
Why? The material in the crotch has disintegrated. Not torn. Just worn thin beyond simple repair. My butt exit is now exposed. In other words, these pants have developed MASS HOLES. See the above photos.
When I complained about my unwanted MASS HOLES, the CEO of Earnest Sewn explained:
«…the market place is requesting softer, stretch denim which feels great but doesn’t last as long. This is ok for women as it is more fashion driven and ultimately goes out of style but men hang on to their jeans longer and expect longer life. These soft, stretch fabrics which match up with the styles you reference clearly wear more quickly compared to the similar wear pattern.»
I’m not sure, but to me he’s basically saying: Most Jeans/​Denim lasts a long time, but our customers are mostly women who value fashion over a product that lasts.
For me, if something is labeled as «Denim» or «Jeans» you should expect several years of performance. With quality products, they should get better. At the very least, they shouldn’t be the first things in your wardrobe to ruin.
As mentioned before, I’m not a big fashion guy, so it’s still quite remarkable to me that I spent nearly $ 900 on four pairs of jeans. Likewise, I should also mention how much I really loved the products at first. But when 3 of 4 go bust due to obvious flaws, it’s quite telling when the maker points the fingers back at you, saying it should be expected.
To be fair the company did respond to my complaint, but it took 3 months and endless emails and real mails to get just one of the 3 pairs replaced. And overall, I’ve lost 75% of my investment in my wardrobe from Earnest Sewn Jeans since Oct. 2011. That’s pretty sad.

I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted: a stylish, great-​fitting, USA made pair of jeans that wasn’t necessarily the highest end or most exclusive, but that I would wear casually, look good in, and not think about too much. Insofar as I thought about it in advance, I also wanted my shopping experience to be the cliché of a guy shopping, namely no hassle, no sales people all on me, no making me feel bad that I’m not a jeans geek (I’m a geek about plenty of other things), but help when I wanted help. I wanted to pick out three or four styles, try them on, buy them and then get out of there.
Earnest Sewn as just perfect on every count. The staff was friendly and mellow, they had a bunch of jeans in my 29 size, and the feel and look of the jeans was great. I left having purchased a pair that I wear all the time (including right now) and I couldn’t be more pleased.
In all, I had a much better experience – much more low key, less drama – at Earnest Sewn than I did at Blue In Green. BlG was fine and their jeans are obviously excellent, but I didn’t need everything that was going on in the subtext there.

The jeans I wanted had to be ordered from CA (harlan 93… they fit my long a$$ legs). Jennifer (or was it Jessica? Crap!) was really good about placing the order and following up to update me on the status. I received the call that they arrived, but when I went to pick them up J wasn’t there. She left a cute note apologizing for the delay and thanking me for my business. No one has to pay $ 190 for jeans but, when you do, this is the type of service you expect… thanks Ms J!!!

Worst customer service — after buying 10+ pair of jeans at this store over 4 years, I’m told with a very condescending tone by the 20 years old sales person they can help tapered jeans I bought at that store — it’s not something they do! What kind of jean store can’t help with a very basic alliteration request that I was ready to pay for. Weak for a jeans store.

Very Comfortable Jeans, too bad new collection’s feels too repetitive.

Attitude runs rampant at this Ernest Sewn retail store. Don’t expect much help from the sales team which, if you’re spending $ 200+ on a pair of jeans you’d think you’d get… Clearly they do not work on commission. The store itself is cool though and has some very different, rustic looks. Check in on Unilocal while you’re there and get 15% off your first purchase, who doesn’t like to save! I’m not a huge fan of their clothes but they have some very warm and super luxe scarves, hats and gloves that I indulged in!
Coffee bar in the back is also a nice touch! Especially in the cold, cold winter months!

Love the jeans, love the salespeople, love the fact that they have so many variations of the jeans I love where back in Cali, retail stores will only have a handful of the styles and sizes I like. Yeah, they have a store in Malibu, but I don’t go back up to LA often, and when I do, it sure as hell aint to drive to Malibu. Extremely helpful salespeople that really give you honest answers, instead of just hot girls saying that «man, those white leather pants, really bring out your, um, adams apple.» I don’t need to buy some whack-​ass jeans just because a fine woman in a wife beater and stilettos tells me that I remind her of this guy that she used to want to have sex with so badly. Let’s be honest, I don’t look like anyone that a hot woman reminisces about having sex with. If anything, I’m the guy the cashier at KFC remembers as the person trying to pretend he was ordering for two… But back to the subject at hand… great jeans without all that flare and gaudy designs.

You can not under any circumstances get your money back from a purchase even if its five minutes after the purchase. Had to leave the merch. there and call and demand they refund my card since I never left the store with the purchase.

Admittedly, I’m a little spoiled when it comes to purchasing designer denim. And her name is Kelly. If not for her, I wouldn’t even know what Earnest Sewn was, and –definitely– wouldn’t be fascinated to discover that they have standalone shops.
Still, outside of a brief greeting, we were pretty much left alone to browse the various wares — delicious jeans of various colors, cuts, and fabrics. Mostly drool-​worthy. And I had no idea that they also had shirts and belts, too. There were a handful of tees that I’d love to go home with. Y’know, when finances are slightly more in order.
I’m in heat over the products. Kinda feel lukewarm about the shopping experience. Or I might have just been numb from the biting cold outside.

If you want to smell a mixture of cedar, whiskey, denim, birch bark, and and hint of taxidermy… in other words Christmas in a retail store, then you foud the right place.
Few things I want:
–Their classic plaid blanket
–Monogrammed leather bound book
–Plaid stuffed bear
–Warm down coat. Any of the brands they are carrying at the moment will do.
First came here back in 06? maybe 07… and all of the employees are consistently friendly and helpful. If you are normally intimidated by, «denim experts» at other stores, no need to feel the pressure here.

Tight fit but I love the color.
I actually purchase these jeans and a greet tee at a sample sale in Soho. The pair I wanted was missing the rivet button, and they would not come down enough on the price to make me purchase them. Everyone said (IE from Earnest Sewn) that they would stretch and would fit correctly. NOT!!! They are tighter now than when I purchased them;yes, I have gained weight, but not that much that they fit tighter than leather pants. And forget about underwear;I couldn’t put them on at ALL if I wore any! What is worse, I look like the repairman with the buttcrack sticking out from the show «Designing Women». I ruined the tee by hanging it outside and forgetting about it until it was too late. Oh, well, such is life. I love the jeans, I love the color (overbleached, like a beige with the black contrast stitching) and I would LOVE ANOTHER PAIR. BTW, I got them for under $ 80,not realizing that they go for close to if not more than $ 200. After I go to the store, I will try on a pair then buy them online.

I can earnestly say… I love my Earnest Sewn jeans… they fit well and make my rear look good. I love the quality of the denim and the dark dark denims they carry.
Love how they’re on the long side since I’m pretty tall! Just perfect for the length so I don’t have to get them hemmed!!!

I discovered these jeans 2 ½ years ago and I have only worn ES since. In fact I still own and regularly wear that very pair, and due to the amazing quality they still fit perfectly. (Note to tall girls — get the LC. It’s fit to our builds and is the first pair of jeans I’ve ever had to roll up. After a lifetime of awkward jean lengths, this is a miracle). If you can’t find a fit, they also do completely custom jeans, and when I finally did manage to wear down the crotch a little after a year (I’m not sure. so don’t ask.?), they patched them up and repaired them to like new for a minimal fee.
I’ve fallen in love with their quality, their hearty old-​school-​american classic image, the people. Earnest Sewn does not disappoint.

As far as stores go this one is top notch. Wanna kno why? Because there is food there! They have mini cupcakes in the back, rock candy, and doggy treats! Hello store!
They have created this whole ski cabin atmosphere here. When you come in you are greeted by a lot of misatched things along with clothes. I like their jeans and the salespeople were nice.
They have men’s and women’s merchandise so you can shop here with your hunny. A great way to pretend you are shopping for He when you are really shopping for Me! They also have a variety of other weird things like Shun knives and soap. Perhaps to be different. While I would normally question the motivation behind this, it seemed to work here. Go Earnest Sewn.

The ONLY denim brand I wear. Well, ok, I am stretching the truth a teeny, tiny bit because I do wear Diesel jeans and used to wear 7’s but, almost all of my jeans are ES jeans. I gave away all of my 7’s except for one and just gave away my last pair of Diesel’s.
I LOVE how ES fits me so perfectly, especially the skinny jeans! ES DOES make some bad ass skinnies! I have a couple of their bootcut as well as the straight legged styles and they’re all very nice! I admit I’ve not tried other denim labels but why bother when ES totally fulfills my denim needs?!
None of my ES jeans have ripped or reached to the point of disrepair and I practically LIVE on my ES jeans. I love how there’s some stretch in their jeans and LOVE the denim colors they offer. I especially love that ES jeans material doesn’t feel rigid and hard like a lotta of the other denim labels. It’s well worth the bux to invest in a pair of ES because it does last for a long time.
The store has a nice design to it and the SA’s are all friendly and helpful.

If I could only wear one brand of jeans, it would be Earnest Sewn.
Personally, when I pay more than 200 bucks for a pair of jeans, I want to feel unique. Premium jeans nowadays are just like a uniform amongst prep-​school teenagers and the general adult population. I own a share of Sevens, Citizens, etc… the older ones are actually great quality and would never rip in the crotch which unfortunately happened to 2 friends of mine (Rock and Republics, DON’T BUY THEM.) But when every other person on the street is wearing the same jeans as you, what’s the point in buying premium denim if it’s poor-​quality?
This is where Earnest Sewn comes in. High-​quality, great fitting and subtly stylish jeans that are SO comfortable! I personally am not a fan of having logos emblazoned on my butt (hint: True Religion?). Of course, there’s still plenty of brands out there who have great quality jeans such as Joe’s (another favorite), Paige, Citizens etc… but the best part with Earnest is the custom-​fitting and hemming so that they’re perfect for you.
Frankly that’s why I pay so much for jeans in the first place.

I love Earnest Sewn jeans. Let me just get that out of the way first. I’m the proud owner of a new pair (Harlan, cotton with a tiny bit of stretch, spartan detailing, dark with sheen… perfect) direct from Earnest Cut & Sew here in the Meat. So why four stars, that’s what I say to myself, why four stars, oh WHY? There are two basic reasons… though let me remind you how much I still love these jeans.
1. The concept store is not, in my opinion, exactly aesthetically pleasing. In my SO’s words, «God, another one of those stores in the mall.» Sadly true, the dark, weathered wooden look, complete with tree stump «ottoman», is getting too ubiquitously Lucky Brand/​Abercrombie/​Name a Suburban Craphole to be mistaken for hip anymore. The store is like a workroom — jeans are the original working man’s pants — I get the idea. It’s just, well, it’s just been done. Not a concept anymore.
2. Let’s not beat around the bush. Let’s not hedge and say «kind of pricey». The frigging custom-​detailed jeans start at $ 500 and go up. Way up. I could understand if they were custom-​fitted in any way (I’m not so crazy as to ask for custom-​Made), but your extra $ 300-​ish goes toward the embellishments only, like the rivets, the stitching on the back pockets, the thread color, etc. Don’t get me wrong, this is really cool and a neat touch, especially for someone who spends their time identifying other people’s jeans by the stitching on their asses. It’s just that I’m not flush, but I am crafty, so I just start thinking «Damn, with a weekend and 50 bucks I could do that myself».
But I still love you, Earnest. Earnestly I do.
