Dvořák’s New York Home

This is the site of composer Antonin Dvorak’s New York home, where he lived and composed in the early part of the 1890’s. According to Wikipedia, the original structure was torn down in 1991: «Despite protests, from Czech President Václav Havel amongst others, who wanted the house preserved as a historical site, it was demolished… to make room for a Beth Israel Medical Center residence for people with AIDS.»
Nonetheless, there’s now a plaque outside of the current building in his honor. This was where he composed his B minor Cello Concerto and the New World Symphony! There’s nothing much to see, but a cool place to walk past if you’re already in the area.
