Great Place ! Clean and fresh seafood always. the staff is extremely polite and service is impeccable. They do deliver in the Manhattan area and are extremely efficient on finding anything for you. I give it 5 stars because it deserves it

Went for the first time today, and definitely will be coming back on Saturday. I bought a half pound of salmon did not find it to be pricey at all, but maybe they charge more for specialty items?
Staff was very knowledgable about different cuts etc, and I was really happy to have the opportunity to learn from them. They all had a friendly vibe as well. I’m really excited to go back!!!

Dorian is the best. I went in for the first time today I live 3 blocks away. The shrimp was so fresh, salmon Tuna salad. As a small business owner myself I’m all for supporting this shop!

I’ve only been once and spent a ridiculous amount of money. I don’t have anything to compare it to in the area, though, so I’m not sure if it’s too pricey. The fish was delicious (and I’m not much of a fish eater), but the NE clam chowder was off, flavor-​wise. I think it was too peppery? It was edible, and I actually didn’t mind it, but it wasn’t a proper NE chowda. Overall, though, we are lucky to have the fresh fish option in the area, and I hope to visit again.

I had the most pleasant first experience at Dorian’s the other day. After a few unpleasant experiences buying fish at a local gourmet market, I was looking for a good seafood market, similar to the type I remember my mom going to when I was growing up. I was happy to find out about Dorian’s. I bought 4 pounds of mussels, which I found to be reasonably-​priced at $ 4/​lb. I made Moules Mariniere, and the mussels were perfect!
While I was waiting, I was able to ask the owner, Dorian, some questions about the fish, and how I was planning to cook them, etc… I paid with my credit card, and as I was walking out, Dorian called my name (she must have made note of my name when taking my credit card), and asked if I’d like to take home some fresh gazpacho to try (complimentary). It was the nicest little touch, and it definitely makes me want to go back. It’s nice to go to a place where you feel valued as a customer! I definitely recommend.

If your looking for good seafood on the upper east side this is definitely the place for you. Dorian’s is by far the best place to get fish in the neighborhood. The salmon and the swordfish are both fresh and phenomenal with out fail. The delivery is always quick and reliable. The one thing to make note of is that as great as it is, you are certainly paying for it.

Dorian’s is the seafood market I have been searching for on the UES!
The fish is fresh and delicious! I highly recommend DORIAN’S. We use to get our fish at Fairway but we have now found this gem.
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Dorian and her daughter who are both lovely.

Ask for Dorian, she’s the best!

The seafood is top quality, fresh and clean. We were having a seafood night and bought lobsters, softshell crabs, and small cuts of tuna and salmon. every thing was fresh. The owner Dorian was very friendly and even gave us some gazpacho she made earlier in the day.

Right after I moved to the UES, I was looking for a reliable fishmonger and found Dorian’s Seafood Market. We were having a seafood night and bought lobsters, softshell crabs, and small cuts of tuna and salmon.
They cleaned the crabs on the spot so it made my job very easy. The tuna and salmon were so fresh and we made sushi and sashimi out of them. We fried the crabs and made spider rolls. We boiled the lobsters and just ate them with melted butter. All of the products we bought were so fresh and good.
You won’t find bargain prices here, but when you buy something that you are going to eat raw, you have to take the «quality over quantity» approach – quality is what you get here. I find that it to be a bit of big production when I cook seafood at home, but with this quality food you get to «play» with, it gives any solid sushi/​seafood restaurant a run for its money.
I also met the owner Dorian – She was very friendly and even gave us some gazpacho she made earlier in the day (which was delish).
Two thumbs up! I am going to try to cook more seafood at home to support local businesses like hers.

Dorian herself is the owner, and she does an excellent job. The seafood is top quality, fresh and clean. I’ve been twice, and each time I am pleased — Dorian even let me sample some Manhattan clam chowder my first time in and it was DELICIOUS. Dorian’s is/​will be my go-​to seafood merchant.

I used to buy frozen shrimp, even though I passed Dorian’s every day. Then I went in to treat myself to fresh shrimp. The difference was amazing. I now shop at Dorian’s two to three times a week. I buy small amounts, to fit my budget… and I can feed myself and my son for under $ 10.
Everybody treats me wonderfully. I am not a top dollar customer, but I know they appreciate my business.
The crabcakes are $ 8 a piece, but they are better than what you get in a restaurant.
Dorian got started at the Rosedale Market, and learned well.

As other reviewers have noted Dorian’s is a pricey fish market with high quality fish. (The only reason its not 5 stars is b/​c it is pricey.)
I visited with my $ 20 Groupon last night and enjoyed 2 crab-​cakes, slaw and a few shrimp. Crab-​cakes were GREAT! The service was VERY friendly & knowledgeable. I almost forgot what it was like to shop in small stores because it seems that there are MEGA stores everywhere!

Although pricey, the quality can’t be beat.
I went in with the Groupon and spent much more trying a few things out.
We got some local (Montauk) striped bass that was divine, and thoroughly enjoyed our chowder and lobster bisque soups two nights later.
Dorian was there and very gracious-​they didn’t seem to mind at all that I arrived 5 minutes before closing.
It’s a little out of my way, and Pisacane (a bit closer) has never disappointed either.
So great to know there are two amazing choices in the area.

Only came here because of our $ 20 groupon. This place is straight up a fish market. very few prepared foods. Everything looked very delicious and fresh… so much so that we asked if there was any fish we could use for some sashimi. The guy behind the counter recommended the salmon that they just received that day. $ 22/​lb. Yikes! But if we were going to eat the stuff raw… i felt better if it was super expensive. :) We took the fish home, washed it, and had a VERY decadent meal. the sashimi was excellent — smooth as butter.

Despite these two VERY suspect reviews, I bought the Groupon for Dorian’s. After cruising Summer Streets, I popped on over to grab some fish right before they closed (2PM on Saturday). Since I was there so late, there wasn’t much selection. The proprietress was very nice and helpful, and didn’t try to rush me at all. Unfortunately they only had farm-​raised salmon when I was there, so I ended up getting a nice fillet of red snapper.
It was very fresh, though there were still a lot of scales that I needed to clean off. It was expensive (more than $ 20 for a little over a pound), and I’m not sure if I’d return since I don’t quite live in the area, and it’s not cheap enough to draw me back.
For price and location, I prefer Pisacane, but Dorian’s is still a good choice for those of you UES’ers.
