Waiter was a jerk and everything I ordered was cold. Coffee was meh — I could make better in my drip machine at home. When we walked in it was empty and I thought, oh how nice, a break from the crowds! Now I know why it was empty. Definitely will not be returning.

I ordered the«ditch dog» and it was mighty tasty(mac n’ cheese on top of a hot dog). Atmosphere is loud but fun… located on a great street.

Loved this low key spot. Great staff. Seated quickly since it was Tuesday we ordered two ditch dogs and some drinks. I ordered a Bellini and my absolute favorite thing they do here is that you mix your own drink. They brought me a bottle of champagne and Peach juice and I felt like a bartender !! I must say this was the best hot dog and mac&cheese I have ever had. It was even better when I found out the owner is Marc Murphy who is featured on Chopped(one of the best shows ever) Anywho hopefully I can come back try some other great food, maybe meet Marc Murphy, and write some more great reviews. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks Ditch Plains !!

Insanely delicious bloody Mary’s. You must try them. Otherwise, quiet scene tucked away in the west village. Famous chef owns it. Features an array of hot dogs– believe it. Not a very welcoming cozy space– very dark with hard medals and dark wood.

The food was mediocre. The warm crab dip should not be ordered. The $ 3 up-charge for cheese on the burger was unreasonable. The service was great, but we will not return.

Stop by for a quick lunch. I was the only person there, but I didn’t mind much. The service was quick. Had the mac and cheese hotdog. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either. Expected more from this place since I’ve heard a lot about it on Instagram. Not only was it kind of a let down, but the food was a bit overpriced. A hot dog with fries and lobster Mac n cheese to go with a drink was 40 bucks or more. It’s not a bad place to try out. Just don’t get your hopes up.

I had a bloody mary and a lobster roll for lunch at Ditch Plains, and now that I’ve had this combination for the first time, I’m convinced it’s as classic and perfect a pairing as burgers and beer. Too bad for me that lobster rolls barely exist where I live in Los Angeles, and that even where they do, they’re too expensive to eat on a regular basis. I came to Ditch Plains to meet a new friend(of prior internet acquaintance – loving this 21st century!) for an expensable lunch. It was a great venue for a leisurely meal, with a calm vibe and plain but attractive décor. Service was on point. Our waiter was friendly and always available. The bloody mary and lobster roll were both exactly what I wanted. The Ditch Plains bloody mary was excellent, spicy and thick with horseradish, garnished with olives and celery. One of the better ones I’ve had in recent memory, definitely worth seeking out if you’re into bloody marys. The lobster roll was a thing of beauty, buttery bread loaded with big hunks of sweet, succulent lobster meat, bound with mayo and a little celery. It was simple and delicious, served with a good portion of crispy french fries. I had a great time at Ditch Plains. The place was relaxing, and I loved my bloody mary and lobster roll. I live across the country and only visit New York every so often, but I’d be happy to go back to this place and get the exact same lunch again.

I stopped by here for a light bite and a drink. The watermelon martini was delicious, but the food left much to be desired. The chicken Caesar salad had zero flavor and the fish tacos came without the advertised chipotle salsa… making the tacos fried fish with lettuce. The lack of service was the most glaring misstep. Minor things like receiving menus or getting the check took twice as long as they should.

Chill place for a drink. Nondescript but it’ll do for a neighborhood spot. Good for a conversation.

GETTHEBLOODYMARY. If you want to be risky ask extra spicy. They will double check with you. They have a unique Bloody Mary mix made in house, it is chunky and good. So far one of the best if not the best I have found in the city. Oh yeah. They also have other food such as 2 other spicy drinks called spicy corona, jalapeño margarita. In addition to that they have solid food such as jalapeño tater tots. Not quite the same or as spicy as their other liquid food. Anyway, Enjoy if you like these type of spicy drinks, they have plenty of other types as well. They do have a typical bar menu with burgers and stuff but have found it hard to venture away from the drinks I got.

I hate to do this but seriously? You only have half bottles that are full priced and you reduced your hot dog entrée to one from two hot dogs? I don’t know what ridiculous scam this is but this is unacceptable. I held my «leaving nyc party» dinner here and after being a pretty loyal patron for over 5 years the new management must have decided that money mattered more than real service. Don’t come here unless you want to be ripped off.

The lobster roll… Lawddddddddd that lobster roll… Lawdddddd … Lawddddddd. Lawddddddddddddddddd… Worth every penny. The deviled eggs with fried shrimp! the blueberry lemonade! The smores!!! Everything was heavenly! The customer service was cool too. The ambience so chill… I will be back

After two drunken visits and two sober disappointments, I’ve determined I do not like Ditch Plains. The restaurant itself has a great ambiance in a great location(minus the looping surfing footage behind the bar, which is clearly not from any beach in the vicinity of Ditch Plains, the place). Things are exactly where they’re supposed to be. Nice bar area when you walk in, ample booths. Hell, even the staff is friendly. But that’s where the adoration ends. After my first not-so-sober visit(about a year ago), I remembered the food being quite good. I even remarked to friends that this place was underrated. But upon my initial return and an encounter with soggy calamari served with a delicious aioli, I became less confident. Still I returned on my way home from work for a weekend opener. Then, as if the clouds parted, it all became clear. This place is mediocre at best. The beers are $ 8 and the selection is limited. One of those beers is Pacifico, one of the cheapest options I have in my hometown in Southern CA. I then saw the bartender place an old fashioned in front of the man next to me and immediately had battlefield-like flashbacks of an over-soda’d, under bittered abhorrence of a cocktail. One of the worst atrocities to ever claim the drink’s namesake. I could conjure up a better old fashioned with a warm flask of bourbon at a ballpark. Following this, a visually disappointing plate of nachos was placed in front of me. The chips were burnt, yet the cheese wasn’t melted. The toppings were sparse and the portion was laughable for $ 15. And so it all became clear. This place is a shell of an experience. All the right pieces are there, but the followthrough is not. I hope it makes improvements. I’d love to go back. But until I see an ‘under new management’ sign, I can’t see it happening.

Hands down the best tator tots I’ve ever had. The drink concoctions are also good… pretty cool scene too on any evening as well. Overall I recommend for a drink/nosh/meal.whatever floats your boat.

Not a bad place but left me kind of unexcited. The food is fine – probably stick to the fancy hot dogs or burger. Not a good value though it’s not obscenely overpriced either. Staff is friendly and it’s a very approachable place without too much pretense. Pretty space and still hip enough for the area. I would probably come back to try a cocktail or two, but I won’t be bookmarking it for now.

Stopped by here to grab a drink with some family. We walked in on a Saturday evening around 10pm and we were surprised to be promptly seated at a large booth even though the bar was pretty packed. They also had a good easy place for us to hang our jackets on a coat hanger near our table. The waitress was very friendly and we got our drinks in a timely manner. We did not venture to try any of their fancy cocktails but the normal beer and mixed drinks were great. I would recommend this place when looking for something low key and avoiding the secret bars behind bakeries that have insane lines out front and ridiculously overpriced cocktails!

Grabbed dinner here for a birthday party. Food was quite mediocre and overpriced for what its worth. I shared the crispy calamari and ditch dogs with my boyfriend. We were both disappointed with the food. The mac and cheese was tasteless. it wasn’t even creamy or cheesy. For $ 12 we expected a hot dog that was oozing with flavor and cheesiness. Instead it was bland and kraft mac and cheese quality… The calamari was okay, pretty average. The place is more like a pub restaurant. Atmosphere is nice though. Also I wanted to ask, I saw from Unilocal the ditch dogs came with lobster mac and cheese??? But there was no lobster in my order?

OH… WHERETOBEGIN?! It’s been a while since I’ve had a dining experience so bad, i’d felt that a joke had been played on me. It was a birthday dinner for my bf — he wanted a lobster dinner, and since they were known for their Surfer Sunday Lobster dinner, off we went… …except they were no longer offering the whole lobster due to some management changes. We were crestfallen, but decided to stay and make the best of it. I should have remembered all the bad reviews from trusted Unilocalers, but it was 8:30 on a Sunday evening and we just didn’t want to restrategize dinner at this point. But the nearly empty restaurant should have been a clue!!! So in no particular order, the highlights: * They were apparently out of lobster mac and cheese, as well as some other item I don’t remember. Also, no, Lobster dinner. I’m guessing they were probably out of the lobster roll as well. Great start, for a place named after Long Island’s east end. *jalapeño cheese tater tots — yeah they theoretically make the perfect bar food, with all that spicy cheese. Except, they were overly greasy on the outside and yet undercooked, as in crunchy raw slivers of potato. Also, for this raw goodness, it’s 11 bucks! *Burger– bf had this. The bun was stale. Tasted okay otherwise. But later, the meat gave him an extremely painful experience in the commode. This later turned into the food poisoning episode of the decade. I felt really bad that I treated him to this disaster on his BIRTHDAY! Sorry honey! *Fries with the burger. Alongside the sprinkles of salt and herbs, was a strand of HAIR. * My spicy friend calamari salad –came with overcooked rubbery calamari. I had to season the salad with liberal amounts of salt. And no it was still so bad that I couldn’t finish it. *The bill came out to 70 bucks with 2 beers, not including tip. It was Obnoxious. And I still gave an overly generous tip of 20 pct. I would not go there again, even if it were free.
