Diamond District Barber Shop

I’ve been going to Russell for nearly 2 years for haircuts. I live at 148^th now, and I still make a point to go to him for my haircuts, usually planned during another trip to midtown. He’s so good that I hop on the subway just to get my hair cut. $ 15 for a basic cut, done with excellent precision.
Russell is, hands down, the best barber in Midtown. I met him when he was working in Hell’s Kitchen, and he honestly gives the best haircuts I’ve ever had. I’ve had several NY barbers try to tell me how I want my hair to be cut. Since I’ve had the same cut for 10 years, I think I know what I want. Russell has excellent customer service skills, really listens, and gives you exactly what you ask for. I was disappointed that he left my neighborhood when I lived in HK, but very happy that he opened his own business.
I will travel to see him for a cut every time I need it because no one else compares.

I will only give 5 stars if they are earned !
This is a Barber Shop not a boutique. The owner Russ is very serious about his craft and the results speak for themselfs. Russ is a non rushed easy going guy. The price is right, the hair cut is right, what more can you ask for. Worth the trip.

Went in for a quick head shave and was in and out in 10 minutes. Perfect just what I was looking for in NY.

I share the sentiments of the previous reviewer and I too travel to another neighborhood just to get my haircut at this place.
I have lived in NYC for 6 years now in 3 different boroughs and finally in Manhattan. Since my hair is pretty short and I try to cut it every other week, I have always been hesitant about going to fancy salons and paying $ 100+ for a simple haircut. Hence, I have always resorted to barber shops with unsatisfying and, on occasion, disastrous results.
Until I moved to Hell’s Kitchen and met Russell. I have never been happier with my haircut and highly recommend this guy. He’s not only kind and attentive, but really tries to satisfy each customer and would even patiently work past regular hours to give you the cut you want.

WOW! I sincerely could not have said it any better than the previous reviewer! I, as well, have had the same cut for well over ten years and I take my hair very seriously. I found Russell working in Hell’s Kitchen a few years ago and haven’t been to anyone else ever since! Most barbers I’ve been to will ask you what you want and either forget or completely ignore how you want it, giving you just a general clean up… it’s very aggravating. Russell, however, does not. He takes great direction, listens and works patiently and professionally. He’s the best!
Recently, he opened up his own business is in the Diamond District. I, too, go out of my way to his shop because he’s worth it. Go see Russell! You won’t be disappointed.
