Dial 7 Car & Limo Service

I was very disappointed with all aspects of this company’s customer service. After three confirming phone calls:
–they were 35 minutes late (not good when you are leaving for the airport)
–the dispatch either lied or continually misrepresented the driver’s location
–the price we were quoted was not the price charged.
–erratic driving (par for the course for NYC but not welcomed given the first three problems)
The one star is for the fact that we did actually get to the airport before our flight.
We will most definitely never use this company again.

I’m writing this review about a trip to JFK my 83 year old Father had with them yesterday, While many different family members have used them in the past with no problems we will no longer ever use them. My father was picked up by a driver that spoke No English. He could not understand where to take him in the airport even though my father told him he was going to California and taking Delta. After the driver attempted to take him to the international terminal somehow after multiple trips around the airport my Father did wind up at the Delta terminal. The driver then was shoving the credit card receipt at him with apparently 1 word of English he knew which was tip. After my father declined (extremely unusual for my father who tends to over tip) because he was so upset by the awful trip the driver proceeded to take my Dad’s luggage and drop in the street not up on the curb.
Needless to say I am extremely upset that he had to endure this ride. Spoke to the company and their response was that with an extensive amount of affiliate drivers occasionally something goes wrong. Well we are not willing to take the chance with this company again especially putting an 83 year old in their hands.

Executive review: good service from Newark to Manhattan, bad pricing in reverse.
The price _​from_​airport is $ 48, _​back_​$ 67. They include tolls both ways, even though there is no tolls on the way back! And even though the operator explicitly told me the tolls are included in the $ 67 price. When I called again they said the tolls are always included. What a ripoff! Buyer beware.

Dial 7 Car Service — On time, efficient and great app!
I switched to Dial 7 and am really happy I did. They rescued me when Carmel stranded us once and since then I have been using them ever since. The drivers are knowledgeable of how to get you where you need to go. The call in center, the operators are very pleasant to talk with and the app, is awesome! Tells you where your car is, updates you on it’s arrival and you receive texts telling you updates as well. Good job!

Don’t use this company! The driver would not honor my $ 5 discount (pocketed the money because my receipt showed the discount included) charged me way over toll prices and said i owe him gratuity which is pretty messed up. Then expressed the fact that I need to pay in cash. This was about the shadiest operation I’ve dealt with… You’re better off just hailing a cab on the street
I’m updating this review because dial 7 contacted me about this offer and is sending a refund for the driver that took advantage of us. The company itself seems great, I just unfortunately got a bad driver.

Ali Raza was the bomb. He was good and kept in communication with us to vogues and we received a text as a reminder. Very personable and no complaints so happy we chose this service. He represents the company very well.

Just took a Dial 7 from Manhattan to Newark and was surprised to be charged nearly $ 20 in tolls including the Lincoln Tunnel toll, which is only applicable to trips in the other direction. Called to complain and was told by the indignant customer service agent that the company charges the toll going to Jersey to cover the drivers’ return trip after they drop you off. So you pay the $ 15 Lincoln tunnel toll going both ways if you take Dial to and from the airport even though it only applies in one direction. Nowhere is this explained on Dial’s website, which just says the trip cost doesn’t include tip and tolls (no mention of tolls incurred after your trip is over!)
They could easily clarify this if they wanted to but obviously prefer to deceive people.
Drivers are usually fine, this review is for the management.

Awful.
I needed to get from Midtown to Newark at the butt crack of dawn. Like literally I think I left at like 4 am.
Pro: They showed up on time, and got me to my destination in time.
Con: The price. Total, the ride was $ 70… I thought to myself that seemed a little high, but I didn’t have time to deal with it. As I looked at the tolls online I was charged the premium rush hour prices, but it wasn’t premium rush hour services.
I emailed them and them refunded me the money they overcharged me. Id never use them again.

I only use Dial 7 when I visit NYC. I have been so incredibly frustrated by Yellow Cab. Dial 7 always knows how to get me to where I am going in the shortest time. The rates are competitive, the drivers clean, dependable and courteous. I have actually given the driver the wrong info regarding where to pick me up and he worked patiently to find me. I am not a New Yorker but never feel intimidated or uncomfortable with their professional service.

Just took dial 7 from Manhattan to Newark, and am currently at the airport waiting for my flight. Despite the fact that it’s not quite 5am, I’m so pissed off, that I feel the need to give dial 7 a 1-​star review right away.
I’ll caveat this by saying that all the drivers I’ve had with dial 7 have been friendly enough. They’re for the most part courteous and professional and the cars are fine.
What’s infuriating though is their ‘fares’. And by fares I don’t mean the bogus ones they advertise. I mean what they end up actually charging you. ‘Tolls’ ends up meaning whatever arbitrary amount they decide to charge you.
This trip to EWR, I was charged $ 20 in tolls. We actually paid $ 3. For those that don’t know, the Lincoln tunnel charges only on the way into Manhattan from NJ. And the ez pass off peak rate is 10.50, so I have absolutely no idea where the $ 20 comes from.
If you take dial 7, make sure you’re ok with an arbitrary extra amount being tacked on in the name of ‘tolls’. Ugh.

I just used this company going and coming back from JFK and I must say it made my trip a whole lot better each way. I would definitely use again & highly recommend!

Used them from LGA to UWS on ³⁄₁₆ and then back again on ³⁄₁₉
No issues. Cars were clean, drivers were efficient and drove smoothly (very important in crazy NYC traffic)

Better than a cab!!!

Traveling from LGA to my apartment in Manhattan at 10pm on a Sunday. I asked the driver to avoid tolls and to either take the Williamsburg of Brooklyn Bridge. I’ve never had a driver have a problem with this. This particular night, however, the driver argued with me saying I was «more concerned with saving my money than wasting his time». He then LIED to me and said that the Brooklyn Bridge was closed going into Manhattan because of construction. As we passed the bridge on the FDR it very clearly was not closed. He then said there would be too many surface roads with lights if we took the Williamsburg bridge.
I’ve used them before and have been quite satisfied, but I will not sit idly and be lied to. I contacted customer service who was willfully unhelpful.
Please save yourself the hassle and find a different car service company.

Dial 7 service to Manhattan and from several days later was fine. The car to Manhattan smelled smoky and stuffy, though.
However, on the way back, the driver demanded a fare that was considerably (more than $ 40) over the quoted price. There was some but not a whole lot of traffic. I showed the driver the rate in the email. He had this flippant attitude and a small smirk, like he know’s it’s a rip off and it’s my problem.
I paid, but I’ll never use Dial 7 again. Think twice before you use them.

Oh my god I used to HATE the Dial 7’s so freakin’ much, I wasn’t sure if I had lost my mind booking a trip home with them last night. The 7’s were always just one click better than the 6’s, which meant one click better than horrible. But you could never beat their prices if you needed a relatively cheap ride from NYC back to Dirty Jerz, even if meant rolling the dice on whether you’d ever get home in one piece.
Well, that was a long, long time ago. I’m an Über man now, at least most of the time. But after being fleeced by Über the night prior to the tune of $ 260 to get home from Jersey City, I decided I just can’t be wasting money like this anymore. So for our big night out on the town with friends from Quebec last night, I took a chance on the 7’s and it really paid off.
Booking was a piece of cake. Just go online to their website and set your trip up. You’ll get a quote for a whole array of vehicle options, and you’ll do just fine in their least expensive sedan. (Unless you feel like being all fancy.) You can pay with a credit card, which must be on you when your ride ends, or by using cash. I recommend sticking with a card if you’re boozing it up and want to minimize the need to do math while blowing a .20 or higher. Know your tip amount long in advance. 20%, pre-​tolls, is generally customary.
Our driver was about 10 minutes early, as he should have been, and he called to let us know he was outside. Very professional and obviously well-​rested before the long trip home. NYC Financial District to East Brunswick, New Jersey for $ 78, before tolls and gratuity. And that includes a $ 5 coupon which you can usually find online at their site or at
. That’s a $ 300 trip on Über Black, and it sure as hell beats taking the train.
So next time you’re partying in the City and you want an inexpensive and reliable ride home, take a shot with the Dial 7’s. They’ve clearly gotten their act together over the years.

Giving Up… Service is too sketchy.
A few weeks ago, I reserved a Dial 7 car to pick me up at the airport. They picked up somebody else and left me stranded.
Tonight, as I write this, my car didn’t even bother to show.
Dial 7 used to be safe and reliable. I’ve used it often in the last few years for company business. In the past six months, however, I’ve had drivers take me to wrong addresses – even after I’d confirmed the address w the driver in-​car – and argue w me about how best to get to MY home address, among other troubles.
I’m done.

Car services are a big part of my world for both work and personal travel. I proudly admit that this native New Yorker doesn’t «do» the subway… and I mean ever… I come out wanting to take a shower, and well that kinda ruins my day.
I have been using Dial 7 the last few months — short trips around the city, to the airports and of course out to my beloved Fire Island ferries. Cheap? Not even close –but worth it. First, you can book on line or direct. I actually dont mind calling them as they have the most polite resevations people! I usually upgrade to a luxury vechile which is only few dollars more — cars mostly newer models and their drivers are all polite. I have yet to have any major issues. They text your confirmation, dont sound annoyed after you change your pick-​up time a few dozen times, and are always on time and reliable.

I ordered two cars to carry family friends back home. One which I was in arrived to destination without a hiccup, no toll charge. The second car was no where to be seen. 30 minutes pass and I found out the other driver has been lost and been driving in circles and went on unnecessary toll roads. Once the 2^nd car arrived they were 45 minutes behind. The driver demanded to pay toll and tips. Even before I sent my family friends on the second car the driver was demanding tips already.
Very disappointing first time using this service. Won’t be using Dial 7 anymore.
The only pro was they arrived to the pick up location on time.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING SITUATION AND COMPANY.
completely appalled at the lack of professionalism and courtesy shown by this crapshoot of a car service. Couldn’t use über because of multiple pickups and of all the local car services this seemed the most credible.
Called three times and spoke to three of the most careless operators, clearly these people were not recruited for talent or previous experience. Gave specific instructions which were completely ignored and not conveyed to the driver who was 30 minutes late picking up my boss — he ended up missing his train to meet an important client.
So glad they at least record calls to hear the 3 operators completely disregard all instructions & I am hoping they were fired for insubordination.
I believe they are driving my boss to his final destination for free for such a terrible botched job, as my boss mentioned: this is why Über is worth $ 50 billion and car services are going bankrupt.

Dial 7 remains one of the best examples of «it is what it is» in New York. I fly often enough to take notice of these things; trips to JFK, LGA or EWR on a bi-​monthly basis. Dial 7 does what I need them to do. When I call up, even though I do not maintain an account with them, they can access my locations (plural) via my phone number, and I have never, EVER been left on hold more than a minute. I can request specific drivers and amazingly, have found that they remember me. Nice touch in the increasingly corporate world we live in.
I think one of the more amusing examples of «herd mentality» via the smartphone (and the ad nauseum app fascination) is the rise and prevalence of Über. Can anyone give me a good reason why I should pay $ 90 for the same ride to Kennedy that I get from Dial 7 for $ 70? Assuming it’s not raining, or a «peak» hour, in which case the consumer will get raped by Über for anywhere up to $ 150, for anyone stupid enough to pay it. And judging by the stock price and company valuation, there are plenty of people who are. Could it be the sexy app? Or is it the inconsistency of pricing, cologne-​drenched drivers, and general hit-​or miss when it comes to vehicle, route, compliance with laws? I’m not sure, but I’m not a fan, either.
After years of good experiences, leavened with the occasional bad one (no system, or company is perfect. Witness the Über complaint files.) I feel pretty comfortable recommending Dial 7 to anyone who asks. Day after tomorrow I’m taking a Dial 7 sedan to LaGuardia. That will be close to 70 rides with them. I can honestly say I have had fewer than 5 rides that were anything less than good. I’ll take that percentage, any day.
