We have created a friendly, moderately priced attitude-free, environment where our patrons eat, drink and socialize in a unique atmosphere. The building was built near the turn of the previous century and has been meticulously restored to reflect that bygone era. The décor features a 20ft high brick vaulted ceilings and two hand-painted sepia tone historical murals of the historic Battle of Manilla Bay stand upwards of 15ft high. Atop the back bar sits an antique 1916 brass cash register and a replica of Deweys Arch. At one time the arch stood on 24th Street and 5th Ave, commemorating Admiral Dewey’s victory over the Spanish Fleet in the Spanish American War.

Meet the Business Owner
Edward D.
Business Owner
I grew up in St. James, New York and then went on to the Univeristy of Delaware (BA). My first job was working as a paralegal for 6 years in NYC. After that experience I knew I wanted to work for myself and I like many other men in their 20’s I wanted to own a bar. So after many years of hands on research in the NYC nightlife, I decided to quit my job and go for it. After two years of working 12 – 16 hr. days Deweys Flatiron was born on 12÷28÷96. Back then people didn’t know where the Flatiron District was. The name was taken from my nickname Dewey and an old Arch erected for Admiral Dewey from the turn of the last century. We restored the brick vaulted ceilings from 1915 and created second level for a bar and lounge area. Back then we only had 3 TV’s and small closet for a kitchen. I put my blood and sweat into having a cool down to earth place that everyday New Yorkers and visitors could feel comfortable in. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have had for the last 17 years.
