Derma di Colore

I can’t recommend this dermatologist enough. I’ve seen Dr. Charles for the past couple years. I’m consistently blown away by his warmth, professionalism and knowledge.
Today I swung by the office to pick-​up an Elta MD sunscreen per his recommendation (stuff is amazing). The front desk staff was warm and welcoming PLUS the office décor makes you feel instantly more relaxed. I’m grateful I found my NYC dermatologist.

I don’t go to the dermatologist often but every time I see Dr. Charles I am blown away by his expertise and how professional he is. He’s super friendly and knowledgeable and no matter what I ask he always seems to have a thoughtful response and different options for me to consider. The space itself is also very airy and open and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. I cannot recommend Derma di Colore enough, especially if you’re someone who generally feels uncomfortable in typical doctor’s offices.

I’ve been to Derma di Colore a couple of times and had excellent experiences. The office boasts a friendly, welcoming staff, the space is clean and beautiful, and Dr. Charles is professional but warm, with a wonderful bedside manner. I wish more medical offices were like this!

Dr. Charles is the best and i recommend him to anyone who is looking to solve skin issues. Walking into a dermatologist office with an acne problem, I was feeling vulnerable and frustrated with my skin. Dr. Charles put that all at ease. He entertained my different theories on causes and responded thoughtfully, laid out all my options without sugar coating anything. He also didn’t try and sell me on any products or regimens. Dr. Charles instantly feels like a old friend who knows about making skin great.

I can’t recommend Derma di Colore and Dr. Charles highly enough. The office itself is beautiful — I feel like I’m going to a spa walking in here! It’s beautifully designed and very welcoming. The office staff is always so friendly and helpful, too. There is hardly ever a wait, which matters a lot to me!
Dr. Carlos Charles is a great dermatologist who is so approachable and has great bedside manner. He really takes the time to listen and answer questions big or small. I’ve really found his suggestions to be so helpful. I couldn’t ask for anything more in a dermatologist!

I have been a patient of Dr. Charles for a few years now since he was on the Upper East Side. I mostly go in for routine skin checks, but have also had the occasional mole removed, etc.
I recently visited Derma di Colore for the first time since it opened Chelsea. The experience of the office visit is great from the get go. Unlike other doctors offices, which as another review mentioned are cold and stale, Derma di Colore is incredibly well designed and inviting. There’s a coat closet in the waiting room. The desk staff is friendly and helpful. And while I wasn’t waiting long, there are actually magazines out that I’d want to read (e.g. Wallpaper)! In addition, the office offers free WiFi.
The patient rooms are modern and nice, with big sliding doors. Dr. Charles spent a good amount of time with me, asking me questions, making sure he understood any updates or changes in my health and skincare practices as well as making general conversation to help me feel at ease.
The overall experience was a great one from start to finish, and I couldn’t recommend Derma di Colore more.

I have always, like a sane human being, hated going to the doctor. Even if you are just going for a routine check up, the oxymoron smell of sterilization, industrial furnishings, and judgmental/​overworked doctors induces the notion of illness and acute awareness of your infection. Perhaps I’m being dramatic, but I know few people who find any doctor’s office comfortable.
However, Dr. Carlos A. Charles of Derma di Colore clearly has considered this perspective. While sitting in their waiting room I felt like I was waiting for a client at a Soho design agency rather than my dermatologist. It’s modern but not pretentious.
Even when I met with Dr. Charles, besides his lab coat, I didn’t feel like I was at your average doctor’s office. He established his expertise without talking down to you. He listened and gently made suggestions. And overall just went out of his way to answer questions and meet my patient needs, instead of being irritated that I am concerned about my body.
Writing this, it’s kinda f’d up that these comments are noteworthy, but they certainly are! The point of visiting a doctor is for your own health, but it’s awesome to have the process be just as positive as the results. I will be looking forward to my next appointment.
