Established in 2008.

Cut The Clutter was founded in 2008 by Natalie Schrier, a Long Island native and longtime resident of NYC.

Since inception, Cut The Clutter has been helping people to declutter, purge, rejigger and organize apartments, houses, storage units and offices. Natalie has tackled projects as small as linen closets, and as big as entire abodes.

Natalie has been featured as an organizing expert on Fast​Com​pany​.com, WPIX, Blog Talk Radio and as a guest blogger on multiple sites online.

Natalie brings an array of personal and professional experience to the table to help you accomplish your organizing goals.

Raised in a generally disorganized household, Natalie decided at an early age NOT to follow in her family’s footsteps. She tackled many organizing projects as a child (like categorizing/​filing her father’s grocery coupons, at the age of 10!).

Post-​college, Natalie honed her organizing skills in the corporate arena. As an HR rep for 7 years, she efficiently instituted paper and electronic filing systems. Next, as an ad designer for 2 ½ years, Natalie selected critical items to include in ads and arranged them to fit into the limited amount of space available. Add in years of cleaning out friends’ closets, and you’ve got one well-​rounded professional organizer!

Natalie is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) as well as the local NAPO-​NY chapter. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Natalie is an absolute miracle worker. She is a master professional at her craft. She helped us transform our home from a variety of surprise avalanches and random piles to a completely show worthy home that anyone can visit at ant day, any time!
Additionally, we are all happier, losing weight because I can now cook home cooked foods more, we can find stuff in its rightful place, we have more time since we aren’t constantly searching for things, we read to the kids more, we don’t have things randomly falling on people, and we are just loving our totally transformed house!
Hire Natalie today! She is well worth the time and money!

I wish I could add more stars! Natalie is a super star. She purged two closets of 20 years worth of clutter bordering on hoarding. There’s no way this ever would have gotten done without her. Now I can’t stop happy dancing, I’m so thrilled to have my space back.
And Natalie is an absolute professional. Shows up dot on time, and works quickly and efficiently (where does she get her energy?!) She dragged countless bags of trash down two flights of stairs, and then took out all the stuff to be donated. Really, there is no way I could have done this without her.

Natalie was such a breath of fresh air for our kitchen! We hired her back in May right after we rearranged our apartment and she swooshed in like a fairy godmother, tapping her wand on each cabinet and drawer and magically making everything pare down and put in its rightful place. OK, so maybe it wasn’t that easy, but man did she help me turn my tiny kitchen into a more efficient space. I really needed someone to hold my hand and tell me that it was unnecessary to have 6 spatulas and that it would be easier to find my spices if they were labeled and on a tiered shelf. She even brought her own labeler and provided a list of inserts I should buy ahead of time. I have to say I haven’t kept my glasses arranged by size and type as well as they were that first week, and my drawer of plastic containers is again a little messy, but I’ve kept almost everything else as tidy as my limits will allow and I think of her every time I happily reach into my «coffee drawer» for my grinder and bag of beans (and when I thoughtfully put them away instead of leaving them on the counter). She was so much fun to work with and I would definitely bring her back next time I need someone to hold my hand through a clear out and clean up.

Natalie was quick to respond and I liked her business model. She took notes during the complimentary assessment, and provided a list of items I could buy in advance to help with the organization (LOVE these products). Natalie arrived on Org Day on time and ready to go! We got to work right away, and also put my husband to work. She was SOO easy to work with and really nice in general. No pressure to throw anything away, but somehow I ended up feeling good purging at least 6 bags of garbage and 6 bags for donation. She made the smallest rearrangement of bins in my walk-​in closet, that somehow opened it up and made it seem 10x bigger! I feel great about my place now and have processes in place in make sure it stays neat and organized. Natalie also followed up with ‘homework’ and suggestions for other items we had discussed (including décor). Thanks Natalie!

I moved from an apartment with 5 closets to one with 2 ½. After living with so much less storage space for a couple of years, I bit the bullet and searched out someone to assist me with rethinking and decluttering my available space. Natalie is a complete professional and is sensitive to any budget. Not only does she offer simple solutions to reorganize and reevaluate ones stuff, she partners with a recycling company (textiles only), so that if you are brave enough to scale back and have textile goods to donate, the company she works with will come pick up your stuff the same day or within a few days (depending on schedule). I highly recommend Natalie for any size job.

I am the founder of Green Tree Textiles Recycling, we recycle unwanted textiles clothing, household linens in any condition and donate all wearable clothes to our charity partners, anything that is in poor condition we repurpose it by distributing to the rags market. We have had the pleasure to work with Cut the Clutter for the last year. Cut The Clutter has been using our services multiple times, calling us every time clients need to get rid of their unwanted clothing, shoes and household linens. Natalie, the founder, is a very easy person to work with and she encourages her clients to dispose of unwanted items in a sustainable way. Surprisingly impressed by everything Natalie touched as it turned from a mess to well organized!
Our apartment, while decently spacious and with a good amount of storage space was still a cluttered mess. I’ve known it for years and whenever we made decisions to clean and organize it just put a band-​aid on the problem.
We contacted Natalie after countless attempts to deal with the problem on our own. After all I thought, «why hire someone to tell me to throw out my own stuff?» Well, I was pleasantly surprised that besides throwing out that awesome shirt that I haven’t worn in 3 years, Natalie was also able to help set up a system to stay organized. That’s really the key that she’s great at spotting. Really seeing how you live and how you can have access to what you need in a practical and organized way. She did a great job with our bedroom so we called her back another time to help on our hall closets. Her pleasant personality made the time spent throwing out t-​shirts from high school just fly by.
The only problem with her service is that she’s putting herself out of a job. She left our organized apartment with the ability to adapt and expand. So as our needs evolve we should be able to stop clutter in it’s messy tracks before it can get a running start.
I’d highly recommend Natalie to anyone who’s tried to clean and organize themselves, but just can’t get it right and stay that way.

Natalie is a true professional! I found her from Unilocal and was not disappointed… Her stellar reviews are well earned! I was ready to clean out my apartment and get organized and Natalie was a tremendous help.
First she provided a 45 minute in-​home consultation (for free!) of my one-​bedroom apartment and helped create a strategy for my organization. She kept in mind my budget and priority areas to address and estimated the time needed to work on them. When scheduling our working session, she also gave me a few easy things to do to prepare (not necessary, but very helpful to make the her paid time with me more productive).
We then spent a full day purging my closets of things I hadn’t used or needed in years! During this process, a beautifully organized closet emerged due to her logical, pragmatic, and customized approach. The whole day she also gave me tips on how to continue to maintain this level of organization.
Now, my apartment is so much more functional! It’s easier to clean and is really a huge improvement. And I’m really not a messy person! I’m so grateful for her guidance and ability to help me make practical decisions about what to keep or not. I feel like it’s just so much easier to find things and the flow of my apartment works much better for everyday life. I’m very happy with the result and surprised by how great it feels to address the whole apartment instead of just an area or two over the year. I’ve already recommended her to my friends.

She came for a free evaluation and we set a date to clean out apartment. She was helpful, thoughtful and gave great recommendations. After over 30 years in a roomy apartment I downsized to much smaller space. It was overwhelming and if I hadn’t found Natalie on Unilocal I think I would have had a breakdown. She not only helped me get rid of more «stuff» but organized things so I could find them. She is kind and at the same time very sure of what she is saying and doing. While I was sure that I wouldn’t survive getting rid of many things that had sentimental value as well as gadgets etc. I had really never used that much she turned out to be so right.
I’m in my 80’s and one can only imagine the accumulation of «stuff». I thought I had done a good job of getting rid of things before I moved but found there was even more
to do before I was comfortable in my new apartment. Natalie was the key to making this place a «home» and I know I will call her in periodically to make sure I don’t start «hoarding» again.

Natalie recently helped me in such a major way before I moved. For five hours we sorted through my belongings, cutting out what I don’t need, organizing what I’ll keep and packing it up in a way that has been so much easier to deal with in my new place. I love Cut the Clutter! Natalie helped me clean out my closet several years ago-​and not only did she help me get rid of stuff that day, she also taught me that I don’t need to hang on to so much crap. She taught me how to let go of stuff, and be okay with getting rid of things.
A few years after Natalie helped me clear out my clutter, my now-​husband moved in with me, into my studio apartment. We still live there and we have even less stuff, combined, in the apartment than I did before Natalie taught me how to get rid of stuff!
