Crumbs Bake Shop

I don’t like cupcakes, i came in cause there was a sign saying they had dip and dots ice cream!
Turns out they’re in little packages in a little freezer in the front. I was disappointed at first, but I got the banana split, poured it in my cup, got a spoon, and it was EXACTLY like eating it at any theme park! It was about 3 – 4 $. still cheaper than i would have to pay at the theme park.

Don’t buy cupcakes here! They will sell you stale ones. You won’t know until you get them home, unless you are eating them at the shop. And you’ll pay $ 9.00 with tax, for cupcakes you should throw away. What’s worse??? Writing and then calling the Crumbs customer service center and getting NO RESPONSE, even to the phone call, which was answered by a recording, promising a call back in 24 hours. It’s been 24 days and no call back. I want my money back, and you are ignoring me. Frustrating!!!
DON’T BUY CUPCAKES HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Dammit. I was really hoping that these cupcakes would be just as good or even better than Sprinkles or SusieCakes, but alas, they were terrible. I’ve had better cupcakes from Safeway, Ralph’s or Gristede’s. Supermarket cupcakes taste better than $ 5 Crumbs. Bummer. And I bought two — red velvet and the birthday one. The cream cheese frosting on both didn’t taste like cream cheese at all. More like overly sweetened canned frosting that’s been sitting in the fridge for a week.

Y’all. I came here today as a TREAT YO SELF moment when I had been craving chocolate all day and finally gave in. I ordered a salted caramel chocolate cupcake (sounded amazing) and let me tell you– this was the WORST cupcake I have ever had. It tasted like something they throw away at Walmart because it is old. This cupcake was BRITTLE I tell you! Completely dried out. I felt like I was eating old food– and for $ 5 a cupcake? Dreadful! I was so excited about this place!
I should mention that the cashier was very nice and helpful– just wish the cupcake didn’t taste like poopoo.

apparently crumbs is back, but just too expensive for me despite the larger cupcakes. i’ve never been immensely satisfied with what they have to offer in terms of the cake or frosting. the last cupcake i remember trying was the thin mint girl scout option, while not terrible, i didn’t think it was worth the price.

I used to have a cupcake addiction and then Crumbs closed for months. A new owner took over and I was thrilled, but the management at this location is horrific. They don’t get it. The former Crumbs never pushed old cupcakes on their loyal customers, nor did they act like they did not care about their customers. I guess it’s Baked By Melissa going forward.

Frustrating! The customer service was really poor. I’m trying to pick out cupcakes for Valentine’s Day so I ask about their flavors and I have the most frustrating conversation of my life. Its like pulling out teeth just to find out if it has a custard or not. Her first response is, «its chocolate.» When I ask for more details she says, «its good.» Like is she stupid or does she not feel like selling me a damn cupcake?
Geez! If Crumbs is going to completely abandon customer service then they should at least stick up a poster guide of flavors for me to follow.

This nasty and slow Crumbs enforced its own policy about the corporate Rosemary’s Baby promo. It’s across from the yuppie Whole Foods in the UWS area right below projects so it’ll likely survive, but shouldn’t.

Crumbs is delicious, as always, but it was with sadness in my heart that I went to this location. Just a few short weeks ago we suffered the sudden loss of the Crumbs on Broadway and 109^th. It was a very difficult time for us but we’re starting to get over it and have since made the trek down to the location on Columbus, which is now, sadly, the only Crumbs location in the neighborhood. Though the cupcakes are good, they will never be as good as the cupcakes were when we only had to walk a block to get them. RIP Crumbs on 109^th and Broadway, you will be missed.

The space is small venue but, there are many sweet choices. I didn’t know they added push cake pops to their arsenal of cookies, cake and cupcakes. Yum is basically all I can say everything I’ve tasted as be good.

I’ve grabbed cupcakes and coffees here before. Coffee’s not great but it’s a nice option in the neighborhood.
Today was a big issue though: my wife and I got a blueberry oat muffin and shared it on the bench outside the shop. My wife is chewing her muffin and then spits a pebble (not kidding) into her hand and says «Look at this!»
There was literally a rock in her muffin– light and semi-​transparent like quartz. About a quarter inch long– the size of your pinky fingernail. It was fairly round. I assume it traveled into the muffin by way of the oats or the blueberries.
That she didn’t crack a tooth is a MIRACLE.
I am obligated, as your neighbor, to leave a bad review publicly. Rocks in the food is a health code violation of some sort, I am sure.
I am warning ALL of you to be VERY careful when chewing a cupcake or muffin at Crumbs. These are items that are made up of a variety of textures, which makes it even harder to detect a foreign object in the food.
I brought the rock into the shop and handed it to the cashier and basically told her what I wrote above. She seemed stunned and didn’t have much to say. I’m not sure what else to do aside from leave a review.

So there is a study that says something about how men think about sex like 19 times a day well what i can tell you is that women probably think about cupcakes like 80% of the time. Maybe because they are cute and sweet and we like things that are cute and sweet. And of course all of the different flavors. Mystery solved! None of that men are from mars women are from venus business. Women just like cupcakes. (Well okay maybe just me because I love cupcakes) But because of this cupcake infatuation women will sometimes go to crazy lengths to get cupcakes and go all across town trying out cupcakes at different places and one of the more popular stores is Crumbs.
Their cupcakes are a little on the big side. Good for sharing. They are usually good with the chocolate flavors, sometimes the cakes need a little more moisture though and I feel like the frosting is hard to the touch sometimes. Maybe the temperature of their display cases or something and of course the overly sweetness of the frosting flavors. They do go crazy with some of the toppings and they are put on top in a haphazard way. It is a messy cupcake to eat. They seem to favor sprinkles like the regular ice cream sprinkles you get from Mr. Softee. But Crumbs will do if you need a sugar fix and if you forget that co-​workers birthday. (Happy Birthday Gurl! I got you a cupcake!) No I am not speaking from experience. But Crumbs is a decent place to curb that cupcake habit.
They have some interesting items that I have seen like the ginormous cupcake cake just picture a cupcake the size of your head. And they now offer cupcake pushpops which I have seen at some of the other stores. Cool idea but Crumbs sells them for the same price as their normal size cupcake so you don’t really feel like you are getting your money’s worth, you are paying for the packaging. They also offer some fun seasonal flavors like cherry blossom and for spring break I saw they had Margarita flavor and Piña colada flavor. They also have coffee, their new takeaway cups now say they sell starbucks not sure if this is true because I just get tazo tea.
The service can be a little better. There is absolutely nowhere to sit and enjoy your cupcake more like grab and go. They have variety packs of their popular flavors in case you can’t decide. Men if you want your ladies to be happy, listen to me and buy them a cupcake.

I came here for one of their huge cupcake-​cake things (yes, a cupcake-​shape cake seems a little ridiculous, but it’s a novelty).
The girl behind the counter was really nice, but:
(1) It took her forever just to write «Happy Birthday» on the cake.
(2) She messed up the name and tried to cover it up, but it just looked messy.
(3) When she asked me if I wanted anything written on there, she didn’t mention there was a fee for it. It was something negligible, like 50 cents, but it’s more of the principle behind it.
The cake was ridiculous. I get that Crumbs is known for putting icing inside their cupcakes, but putting icing inside a huge cake like that made it structurally unsound. The moment we cut into it the whole thing just collapsed. It was Crumbs cake, so it was delicious, but it was an absolute mess to cut and serve.
I wouldn’t get a Colossal Cupcake again, I think. It’s cute, but it’s pretty much just a cake with a high price.

I think Crumbs cupcakes tend to be pretty dry, perhaps because of their monstrous size. This particular Crumbs is pretty cramped and small, but the customer service is not bad and the cakes are the same as at other crumbs.

Usually when I’m in the company of cupcakes you won’t find me complaining. However, despite the (as always) tasty cupcakes (I go for the Oreo) the service here is not up to par. The staff during my visit did not deliver the vibe of cupcake shop. It was a huge clash, seeing all these wonderfully decorated and colorful cupcakes and then being served by people who seemed as though they were drained.
The size of this particular location is quite small, and it’s a real pain to try and get your coffee the way you prefer during a busy morning. While prices of coffee is reasonable, I find the price of cupcakes to be a little steep. Regardless, every time I’ve paid this location a visit it has never failed to provide delicious cupcakes. My two stars go for taste, my lack of three more is due to the bad service and poor customer space.

This shop is in good location to satisfy your sweet tooth while shopping. While I’m okay with small Crumbs locations, this one wasn’t designed to accommodate more than 4 people in the store at a time. The space for customers is very tight.
Picked up two cupcakes that I haven’t seen before, so that was a plus

The feel of this place is almost like a Crumbs express. It’s basically a counter, and you are literally right by the door when you order, pay and leave. It’s not meant for large crowds.
But it’s a Crumbs. I find the inventory is more watered-​down than others. There’s a larger store on Broadway and 92^nd that has more variety. But this one is good for a quick Crumbs fix.

Ive heard such good things about this place and my Maid of Honor and I decided to pop in after looking in Michaels for Wedding crappola. I ordered a brownie and thought ehh. its a brownie. I took the bus downtown since I needed the train back to Queens. When I got home I figured ill eat half and eat the other half the next day. NOPE! I ate the whole damn thing in one sitting. It was that good!

Perfectly adequate cupcakes served up by really nice staff who did not bake them in-​shop. If you want the nitty-​gritty, I prefer a slightly denser cupcake with a better frosting-​cake ratio and no sprinkles (the red velvet was drowning in sprinkles).
I did enjoy the flavors in all the ones I tried, which is really saying something for the vanilla. My friend stared at my cupcake dissection and commented, «Vanilla on vanilla? You really are a purist.» Darn tootin’. If you want to pull your own cupcake & wine combo, this place is right across from the Whole Foods wine store.
