I checked them out based on the reviews, and was not disappointed. I went with the 80s redux flipover mattress, which is nice and firm. Craig and office manager were great, and delivery was on time (about 30 minutes into the 2-​hour window). Delivery guys friendly and efficient.

I ordered a bed from Craig’s Beds recently, and I have to say, I agree with all the other Unilocal reviews – this place is amazing. Not only is the price extremely reasonable, but the service is unparalleled. Never did I felt pressured one way or another to close some «deal» by a shady salesperson; in fact, dealing with Craig’s Beds makes me feel like I’m dealing with friends. I have to say that Craig’s beds will always work to always accommodate your schedule and makes sure that the whole process goes as smooth as possible.
I’m extremely glad I made the decision to buy my mattress at Craig’s beds, and I will probably continue to do so for until I find a better alternative (which honestly, I doubt you’ll find any).

after screwing around with costco and fedex for 10 days and not getting the darn mattress i wanted because fedex was useless… i went to craigs bed… and… super great bed… super service… super easy… super fast… super competent. can’t be… must be a dream… a company that good!!!

Craig’s sales associate was delightful and eager to help. The showroom was difficult for me to find… located on the 6^th floor. From the web site, I thought I was going to be able to try out several mattresses, but only Craig’s brand was on display.

I have to echo the sentiment shared by others here about the excellent service they provide at this little, unassuming place.
First off, don’t be surprised when you walk in. This place is SMALL. The sample mattresses are lined almost directly next to each other. But don’t let appearances fool you. The folks here are experts in their field, and as others have said, they don’t pull the salesman bullshit on you. The place is appointment only and I can see why — as they really take the time to figure out what your sleep preference are and do a great job of explaining the differences and nuances of various mattress types.
They also don’t rush you, which is great. That means if you really need to lay down on each mattress for awhile to get the real «feel» feel of each, they totally understand. Often times, many people make the mistake of plopping down on a mattress briefly (sometimes just to get pesky salespeople off their backs) and make a rash decision on something that will have a big impact on your well-​being, given how much time we all spend on our beds.
After getting a lot of insight on the different types of mattresses they have, I feel pretty good about making an educated decision once I make my choice. Will post an updated review on the rest of the experience, but I definitely wanted to echo the solid reviews about this place.

Yes. Make an appointment. The showroom is small, so an appointment assures you’ll have the run of the place and Craig’s undivided attention. Craig is patient, knowledgeable and never pushy. Placing an order is easy, and shipping was arranged smoothly.
We browsed their website ahead of time to get a feel for their options. But honestly, as soon as my head hit their Summerfield series Ariel mattress, I was sold. Crazy cozy.
They will take away your old mattress. There’s a small additional fee, but well worth it.
The delivery team was wonderfully efficient. They brought in and set up our new bed, boxspring and frame and carted off our old mattress and boxspring within 10 – 15 minutes. And they check to make sure it was to our liking before leaving.
Buying a new bed can be stressful, but Craig’s Beds made it the easiest purchase I’ve made in years.

Just do yourself a favor and go here rather than one of the big mattress stores like Sleepy’s or Serta.
I’ve been to Craig’s twice. It’s a unique experience — you definitely won’t get a salesperson following you around asking unctuous questions. The showroom is small and filled with a number of different types of mattresses, some designed by Craig himself (the Summerfield line). Based on your preferences, Craig will direct you to this or that mattress, and give you as much time as you want to roll around on it and try it out.
Craig is talkative and friendly but doesn’t try to sell you bullshit when you ask questions about mattresses. He also won’t follow you around the entire store, which I really like. He’ll give you space to try stuff out, but let you ask whatever questions you want.
Also — if you like a medium firm mattress, BUY THE CRAIG’S MATTRESS. It’s a mattress Craig designed himself. It’s also the most comfortable thing I have ever slept on in my entire life. It has a 90 day money back guarantee, but there’s no way I want my money back on it. If this mattress ever wears out I am buying a new one.

We ended up buying elsewhere because of our own rush, but Craig received us even though we did not make an appointment, and he was eager to help us choosing the right mattresses long after we had already ruled out buying from him. Will certainly come back if I need another bed in the future.

I recently bought a mattress from Craig’s and wanted to share my experience. My wife and I had visited Craig’s showroom several months ago to test out several mattresses. Although we weren’t yet ready to make a decision then, we met with Craig and found his friendly attitude to be a pleasant surprise from dealing with typical sales people at big department stores. Craig’s had the best prices in town, by far, and his no-​pressure attitude was an added bonus.
When we finally decided to pull the trigger and buy a mattress several weeks ago there was only one store on our list — Craig’s. Ordering the mattress and arranging for delivery took all of about 5 minutes on the phone. We’ve been sleeping on our new mattress and love it. Thank you Craig!

I’m very pleased with the attention my husband and I received when picking out the best mattress for us. There was a good amount of variety at their cozy showroom. We spent a good amount of time testing all the beds and finding the perfect one for us. Upon placing the order the confirmation came and was very clear and the mattress delivery was confirmed. It only took a week from placing the order to delivery. The mattress came perfectly on time and my old one was removed quickly. Craig, the owner of the company, was very attentive to my needs and was easy to contact when I had any concerns I had.

Bought a bed here a few months ago and absolutely love it.
Craig was super helpful and explained to me what type of bed would be best for my sleeping posture and within my budget. Ended up buying one of Craig’s own brand and highly recommend these super comfortable beds to anyone.

I work remotely for a very busy consultant. He travels a great deal and was looking to establish an east coast apartment. Based on reviews, I called several shops to purchase a bed — Craig’s was unique is so many ways. He tried to find me the perfect bed via telephone, he called me back after hours to get more information. I called him the day before Easter to finalize some things and he picked up while renting a car to answer my concerns! Things were in place — a bed purchased via telephone from California to be sent to Manhattan to a location I have never seen for a man Craig would never meet signed for by a doorman in an apartment I would never visit. It was all good! Until the day before it was to be delivered.
That Friday the lease fell through.
I got a text while shopping in Costco from my employer. I called Craig (who always picks up) from the frozen food section, and told him the situation. He sent an immediate STOP DELIVERY alert email and cc’d a copy to me. The email came through as I was still on the phone! He was incredibly gracious, and told me he would hold the bed indefinitely, and that there would be no extra charge. AND if I needed to cancel, he would give me a full refund. Unheard of, right?
I did indeed need to cancel the bed, and called Craig a few days later. He was incredibly pleasant, and we talked about his Gummy Bear Bed charity project for Alzheimer’s — so worthwhile — and he assured me that he would help me when my employer did in fact find a place in NY. I received an email detailing my return the next morning, and my credit card was credited 2 days later.
Craig’s customer service was impressive and his honesty and integrity refreshing. He made a complicated situation easy, and did it with effortless grace. I would highly recommend his shop to anyone in the NY area. — And check out his Gummy Bear project. Awesome!

So happy we didn’t go with the scam store sleepys where they just try and sell you anything at the highest price they can sucker you for.
Similar to what others said, Craig was great to work with, but more importantly, I want to focus my review on the bed itself.
After having the bed for about 3 weeks now, I have to say that we are very happy with our Tiffany fusion. So comfortable! We get a great night sleep!

Craig and his employees are extremely personable and knowledgable about mattresses. The store is quaint and private giving you a comfortable environment to test out mattresses. Make sure to book your appointment in advance as they only take appointments. My mattress is perfect and the best quality. I compared prices and mattress quality to Sleepy’s and Macy’s, but the mattress I bought from Craig was by far the best investment. Craig’s Beds customer service cannot be beat. I highly recommend this store to someone looking to invest in a high quality mattress and have a unique, local NYC experience. Craig’s Beds is a gem. It was an enjoyable shopping experience.

Another 5 star review for Craig’s Beds. This is a belated review from a late October purchase. My boyfriend and I couldn’t have more different opinions on what a comfortable bed is, and we tried other stores that just wanted to push a sales on us. Craig and the woman working with him that day (don’t remember her name, sorry!) were great about pointing us toward different mattresses to try, and allowing us to lay around in the showroom for several hours (no joke) until we both felt comfortable and happy with our decision — and I still can’t believe we were able to find a bed that we’re both still comfortable on, 3 months later.
The experience was great — there was no pressure to push a sale, his prices are fair, he was able to answer all of our questions, and delivery was quick and painless. Thanks Craig!

This is a long overdue review. My 20 something daughter bought a bed from Craig in early November. After being yelled at in Sleepy’s, going on a long subway ride to a mattress company that closed their storefront but neglected to mention that on their web site, and being pressured at big furniture stores, she had a great experience at Craig’s.
I went with her to his small, second floor showroom. He was fair, straight on price, and there was no pressure or bargaining. She loved his entry priced mattress which was delivered the following Saturday. She says it is the best mattress she has ever slept on — and it was a very pleasant experience!

My wife and I purchased a mattress set from Craig earlier this week after looking around at other stores like Macy’s and Sleepy’s. The whole experience was fantastic. Craig takes the time to personally help you find the perfect mattress, unlike Macy’s where the salesmen are helping multiple people at once and they just try to sell you a bed to collect the commission. Craig went out of his way to make sure we were happy.
Our apartment building is very strict on when they will accept a delivery and since we were going to be out of town a few days after getting the bed, Craig made several calls to the shipping company he works with to ensure that we could get the bed delivered the very next day (and for free). It arrived the next day at 11am in perfect condition. The delivery people were super nice as well.
You will need to call him to make an appointment before visiting the showroom because he wants to make sure everyone that comes in gets his full attention (we called at 2pm and got an appointment the same day at 3pm). Craig called us the day after we purchased the bed to make sure that it was delivered on-​time and we were happy; good luck getting Macy’s to do that. Something else you won’t get at a chain store, Craig will give you his cell phone number so you can call him personally if you ever experience any issues with the bed or ever have any questions.
His prices are better then or equivalent to any chain mattress store and why would you give your money to a chain when you could support a local small business.
I would (and will be) recommending Craig’s Beds to anyone looking for a mattress.

Though the room where Craig sells his wares is small, his charm and care are vast. He’s not a sleaze. You’ll feel loved and your faith in men will come back. You’ll be in good hands… not like that time me and Rick went to Snakes on a Plane and his hands got sweat on the trail mix.
Don’t just show up at Craig’s door. Call him first to set up a time. Here’s a man who picks up the phone. And when you get there, he might be on his Mac, but you can bet it won’t be porn on the screen.
Craig will have you test out beds. He’ll lend an ear and help you find a bed that meets your needs. No, Rick, cheese in bed is not a need.
To sleep on my bed from Craig is to be on cloud nine. To be with Rick is to be in hell.

Looking for a great bed is not easy, I found Craig’s beds after searching online and decided to give it a try after reading all the reviews. I am so glad I did! Called Craig and was able to get an appointment same day.
Met Craig at the showroom and he let me walk around the showroom and try out any of the beds and was there to give me great advice on which bed to choose. He asked a lot of great questions to try and figure out the best bed for me and in the end suggested one that he thought I would be happy with. He ultimately let me make the decision and did not try to push any particular choice on me. With Craig’s expert advice I even ended up buying a great bed for my son which he loves.
I would highly recommend anyone looking for a bed to go to Craig’s bed. Craig is a great guy, honest and fun to talk to. He will get you the best price and deal for you. Shipping was free and on time and I even got an awesome free pillow!
