I wish I could give zero stars. I used to have a magazine subscription and lately I’ve been following their daily snapchat story and I’m very ticked about what I read today. They are completely one sided politically and a complete liberal rag. They’ll have 5 articles about Hilary and ignore all issues that discredit her and then they put a story about trump in there and make him look like a bafoon. This writer took bits and pieces from quotes and speeches throughout the years to put together the most condescending article j have ever seen. Report news, not opinions. Crappy media. You just lost a customer.

What all the other people complained about, plus they misrepresent quotes — using them out of context, etc. It’s a waste of time and this focus on vanity contributes to the epidemic rise in stupidity we see sweeping across the nation.

The biggest issue I take with this magazine (no pun intended) is their inability to pick which side they’re on. Being liberal and politically active is kind of trendy right now, and while I like that Cosmo doesn’t shy away from discussing the major issues at hand and educating their readers, they’re not at all fair and balanced.
In particular, I dislike the inconsistency of running articles about how to eliminate slut-​shaming alongside their «Sexy vs Skanky» feature. Really, no one caught the irony?
One recent article in particular, intended to be empowering and pro-​choice, simultaneously campaigns feminism while dissing sex workers and using a slew of cliches.
I don’t read the magazine for fashion, but find it laughable that they answer budget-​minded write-​in questions and offer shopping discount tips, alongside advertising a vast majority of items that cost in the triple digits– no consistency for their readership.
On the positive side, new features of the magazine include improved health/​fitness sections, more recipes and ask-​a-​pro articles, career advice, and even a section geared toward women who are married or otherwise in LTRs. I like these features, but again just wish Cosmo would be more consistent and actually know their readership instead of trying to appeal to every demographic.
Don’t even get me started on Cosmo for Latinas– which is packed with clichés, backhanded compliments, and a ton of stereotypical assumptions.

One of the most awful magazines on the planet. I automatically got it for 2 years with another magazine subscription i had… I can’t remember now if it was Marie Claire or Elle. Doesn’t matter. It was free… so whatever. This is absolutely NOT a magazine I would purchase. Ever.
I just recently FINALLY stopped receiving it. Every month it went straight to the recycle bin. I’m honestly not sure who purchases this magazine. Even if I had low self-​esteem this would not be a magazine I would purchase. I don’t know one single friend who purchases this magazine.
Do I want to know 87 different way to give my husband a hand job? Ummm No, I do not!

«Sprinkle your partner’s nose with pepper while they orgasm to intensify», «have sex with pizza», «bite your partner’s scrotum», «color your nipples».
Sound ridiculous? Absolutely, this is the typical kind of advice this magazine has dished out over the past years. Hell, this magazine has supported ditching your boyfriend for a «Friend with benefit», and supported the concept of «Spermjacking» (secretly impregnating yourself through means that your partner DOES NOT, consent to.)
Well, that’s awfully disturbing that people actually read this, and even more that this magazine actually writes this trash. I don’t need any other explanation to support this single star review. This review deserves to give this negative stars.

I really don’t understand the 1 star reviews below. Cosmopolitan (or Cosmo as it’s often times lovingly referred to as) is very much a «what you see is what you get» type of publication available both through traditional print and digital (web/​tablet/​smartphone) means.
No one twists your arm to read it and both of the folks below are apparently very much conservative women — which is fine, go read «Frozen Prudes Weekly» if that’s more your speed, but rating a publication so lowly just because it doesn’t appeal to you or fit your criteria for «pleasant reading» is both vapid and unnecessary.
Cosmo is written and presented to appeal to the modern, liberated and digitally-​savvy woman who knows what she wants and works hard to get it. It doesn’t cater to necessarily women who can afford to spend $ 10k on shoes and purses, but to successful women who lead a mature lifestyle — no offense kids, but most of the folks into this stuff aren’t reading Teen Vogue or Seventeen… or at least, in my opinion, shouldn’t be.
Are some of the articles and features on the salacious and adult side? Yes. Does Cosmo talk a lot about sex and people’s bodies? Yes. This is nature folks and it’s 2013, I bet the reviewers below were born because someone had to in order to produce them.
I don’t understand all the hatred spewed below just because women (and even some men who may pick up Cosomo out of sheer curiosity) enjoy reading and learning about people’s experiences and what works for them. As for the review regarding the actual subscription piece, you’re probably not doing it right.
Now, I’m not saying we as consumers should necessarily hang on every single word and do as this (or any) magazine says, often times we should take things with a grain of salt. I disagree that this magazine preys on women with a low self-​esteem — in fact I believe the opposite — it appeals to go-​getters and women who enjoy reading light-​hearted, entertaining, fashion/​beauty focused and sometimes actually educational articles that can serve to distract from the bore of everyday routines.
Cosmo isn’t trying to save babies, create world peace or stop hunger — but that’s not their goal. Their goal is to entertain, educate and inspire women to by Fun Fearless Females. Clearly they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but they don’t have to be. Don’t like it, don’t read it.

I cancelled my subscription the same day I browsed on their website. First, didn’t realized It was subscription. Second, I went to change it, it said I didn’t have an account or unable to locate with my email, yet rec’d an email for billing payment. Know I received a magazine. I didn’t want with account number and it said i don’t qualify for a refund. I being forced to pay for something I didn’t want. The worse thing, its the first issue and they are charge me the full amount. I cancelled regardless, I still don’t want the magazine. They will take your money regardless. I still haven’t confirmation of my cancellation.

Cosmo has a scam going so watch out. Sometimes when you think you are just buying a concert ticket, you have actually bought a 6 month subscription as well. You will suddenly start receiving Cosmo. When you call to cancel or find out why you are receiving it, they will tell you that a company called Subco signed you up. Subco helps companies expand their subscriptions. 2 results of the scam. 1. When the 6 month subscription stops, if you don’t call to cancel, you will get charged for another year — it will automatically roll over. Second part is, they get to tell their advertisers they have more subscriptions, even though they are «fake» subscriptions. They told me that I must have signed something that said I would be receiving this. I just looked up the original receipt of the only concert I have attended this year and it says nothing so either they don’t even tell you or it came mysteriously from something else I signed, but whatever it was, it was not easily clear that I was buying myself a magazine! So if you start getting a «free» Cosmo, beware. Eventually it’s not free.

This magazine preys on young women with low self-​esteem. It’s filled with relationship quizzes, ways to please your man in bed, diet tips, maybe an article or two on health, a real life story here and there, embarrassing moments, etc.
If you feel a need to read this magazine, here are some tips that will change your mind:
1) Focus on your life and stop obsessing over your boyfriend
2) Having relations with a guy you just met while serving him a 3 course meal WILL blow up in your face
3) If you spend more time becoming an interesting person and less on learning to please your man, your relationships will be better
4) If you absolutely need relationship advice, buy a self-​help book. It’s probably more helpful and less pathetic than toting around a magazine with headlines that read «How to Blow His Mind Every Time.» What about your needs?
5) If accidentally flashing your boss or menstruating on your white mini skirt is the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you, consider yourself lucky.
