I used to come here religiously. but after having my laundry impounded for a day due to the company not paying property taxes and the disregard for my clothes in fluff and fold, the constant change in price per pound, they don’t pick up and drop off and the added difficulty of communicating to the attendant I finally said never again. The only benefit was it was it used to be open 24 hours. now it closes at 11 pm so there is never a reason to return.

I personally go up the street to Norma & Nelson because I prefer to support Mom & Pop businesses… and because they’re closer to my apt :-P But I do like Clean Action for my after-hours option. They keep the store pretty clean. But they are the most expensive in the neighborhood.

After using this laundry for many years, I’m quite annoyed by how they handled my dry cleaning. I brought in my best shirts, which are silk, and which I’ve had cleaned a number of times. My favorite shirt, a $ 150 Nat Nast Original«color block» beige and black silk shirt, was ruined — the beige is now mottled with black and blue spots, the shirt unwearable. This damage was extremely evident, yet they simply returned the shirt to me in plastic with no note or comment. Multiple calls to the owner have gone unanswered. The nice young man who has answered the phone, and who always recognizes me by name and even memorized my phone number when I come in to drop off or pick up laundry, assured me he’s given the messages to the owner, Angel, whom I thought was a stand-up guy, but I guess a visit to Small Claims Court is now necessary. A shame, since they do a good job on my laundry(other than constantly mismatching my socks). I’ll be happy to revise this review should he do the right thing by me, but no call after nine days and three calls is unacceptable.

Fast friendly service. We drop off our laundry and save money compared to our building’s laundry room! They fold to perfection even buttoning sweaters. They are fast and the laundry smells great. They are a welcome addition to the area. I dropped off one night at 8pm and picked up at 12am amazing.

Clean Action Laundromat: where the key word here is ACTION. One time, this guy walked in and convinced this lady to buy an ‘authentic’ Northface jacket for her 12 year old kid. He was selling it for $ 250, but for HER, he’d set the price at $ 225. Sure enough she called her man bring her the cash b/c this was obviously a deal not to pass up! Your typical guy coming in to sell DVDs — eeh, normal — but damn Gina, I was thrown aback the time a total creeper approached me asking if I needed help folding my sheets. Uh, no thanks; I’m just glad I wasn’t folding underwear! You never know what character will be in there, but one thing is for sure: La Mega 97 with Alex Sensation is ALWAYS playing. Clean Action’s washing machines blow, but the actual laundromat is much more spacious than others in the area. Beware: machine #21 and #2 do not wash well; I’ve chosen warm water and have gotten ice cold! You also only have two washer sizes: normal($ 2.25 a load) and mega large($ 4 a load, I think). Dress in layers at Clean Action: you’ll need to undress since their heater is always set on HIGH. So why do I even bother coming here? Not only are they open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, their dry cleaning services are completely legit and half the price than the cleaners on Broadway and 168th area. I’ve taken coats, silk shirts, and dresses here only to be completely satisfied with their 48 hour dry cleaning turn around time. Additionally, their dryers dry well; choose hot, 16 minutes for 50 cent and you’re set. Towels of course, are always tough; they need at least $ 1. Clean Action has same day drop off laundry service, but I personally have never taken advantage of this service. If you can’t already tell, I don’t like others touching my laundry. Lastly, Columbia med students: DONOT be afraid of walking east of Broadway. I’ve walked my grandma cart full of laundry at 1am from Clean Action plenty of times feeling safe as can be; my only fear has been that my cart will tip over, spilling all of my undergarments on the dirty street and thankfully, this has yet to happen.
