CityMD- Lower East Side

Bogus! Called up City MD to say I was having a reaction to antibiotics prescribed, and their response was «it couldn’t be from the antibiotics» EVEN though the pharmacist said it could happen.
Absolutely atrocious.

I was seen, charged, and meds were prescribed. Anything more I guess you have to pay more or ask for it! Like customer service, a smile, no attitude! Really surprised from my last MD urgent Care facility on 14^th st. Hopefully I get a follow up call from the place on Delancey st…

Everyone who treated me was great! Very kind and had good bedside manner.
My only caveat with CityMD is the charges. I emailed their general inquiries account to get an idea of how much my visit would cost. As a self-​pay patient, having in writing that it would be under $ 200 was very reassuring! However, when I was done with my appointment I was charged a $ 200 visit fee (as opposed to the $ 125 they advertise on their site and was verified in my correspondence with them). They failed to mention I would be charged TWICE for the same test as I am also still anxiously waiting on a $ 50 bill from the lab. With my overall charges being almost $ 100 MORE than I was led to believe, I feel a bit duped. Felt kind of like a scam and I am not sure I will return again if this is how things work.

I went to my first CityMD for the first time last week as I thought I had allergies (it ended up being Pink Eye. I’d never had it before). I went on a Friday afternoon. The space is very new, spacious, clean. There was only 1 – 2 other patients. After filling out my forms, I was called a few minutes later. Both the nurse and receptionists were very nice, patient, answered all my questions, and laughed at all my jokes. The doctor was able to see my right after my tests with the nurse. She diagnosed me quickly. She had a bit of an accent (European) that I couldn’t understand but it was fine, the nurse explained after. I asked some questions. She explained. She did not explain every single detail but it’s okay. CityMD followed up with me a few days later to check if I was better. I called back and everyone was very helpful and nice again. I’m glad I went to CityMD and thankful it exists. I look forward to visiting again at the location closer to me in the future. Thanks!

I went there because I was having horrible pain in my pelvis and lower back. I was barely able to walk. I gave a urine sample, and five minutes later was told that I had a bladder infection. I was seen by Dr. Holland, who was extremely uptight and as arrogant as they come. I had asked her how she came up with that diagnosis and she didn’t even look my way. However, she definitely heard me. She continued staring at her computer, then pushed a small paper to the side and told me that my white blood cell count was high. Still, she had yet to even look my way. She sent a prescription to my pharmacy and walked out of the room. The front desk called me up two days later to tell me that the labwork showed that I did not have a bladder infection. So, I headed to the emergency room that same day and was told that I had a pinched nerve and muscle spasm. If you want to be treated well and receive a correct diagnosis, go elsewhere. After all, they are receiving a paycheck because of the patients. No patients=no income.

i was seen rather TIMELY for skin lesion and proceeded to wait for MD female german Dr. HOLLAND. I should have WALKED out as soon as i saw her OVER-​LAYERING me in cloths, smock & 2 Robes to look at my genitals. and she said Dont Touch the area. I had to show her & point it out, no? The first thing she muttered was Ingrown hair follicle !! and she wanted me to do an STD panel — which was JUST done at CityMD not 6 months ago ! I advised her top Look at THOSE results. She thinks she is HIGH & Mighty and ABOVE everyone else and doesnt like being Questioned or Second-​guessed — She is ALWAYS RIGHT in her diagnosis — which was COMPLETELY Wrong ! flat vs. raised & the time on my skin confirmed to me she is MOST UNEDUCATED about Skin dermatoses and ONLY wanted to address ONE of the 3 immed. problems i was having. on top of that her prescriptions are only for THREE Days !! Are u SERIOUS ?? Complete Arrogant Closed-​Minded Stubborn UNREGENERATE Md.!! I was SO pissed i went to 14^st location the SAME day and got FOUR prescriptions that lasted for FIFTEEN Days !@!@ from a more Sensible & Open Minded MD. ~~~ STAY AWAY from that Obstinate Lady Dr. Holland //

Remember that problem I had? Well, now it’s become a bigger problem… Yet, no one from CityMD has called to see how I’m doing… They just lost a star…

Strongly recommend for basic medical conditions.
Note: I have absolutely no medical training. The following is solely from the standpoint of an asthmatic consumer.
Pros:
— Dr. Rolon was a pleasure to work with;
— Facilities were immaculate;
— Quickly diagnosed a simple medical condition and provided treatment;
— Easy walk-​in with no appointment.
Cons:
— Staff is loud (can hear complete conversations in patient rooms);
— Speed (2.5 hours to prescribe asthma treatment).
I’ve had asthma and sinus issues since a child so I’ve spent my fair share of time in doctors offices and «urgent care» centers. The LES CityMD fulfills its function as a limited medical center very well.
For anything basic, I could hardly recommend this CityMD more.
I arrived around 10am and had no wait – although the lobby was crowded when I left around 1pm. The woman at the front desk was polite and helpful.
Unfortunately once you were in the patient area, things dramatically slowed down with the doctor or staff leaving the room for extended periods of time between tasks. (In their defense, I told them I wasn’t in a hurry.) That being said, if I were in a time crunch, I would have gone ballistic at what sometimes felt like a glacial pace.
Dr. Rolon swiftly put me at ease, quickly diagnosed my condition and provided medication for immediate relief of my symptoms. She also had them run an X-​ray. It was at this point that the pace turned glacial and I was left in the patient room for extended periods of time both before and after the X-​ray.
In either case, Dr, Rolon returned, prescribed various medications, and reminded me that I can use the internet to stay up-​to-​date on asthma. I felt a bit like Protagoras when Socrates forces him to lamely finish his argument in Plato’s dialogue. Then I was on my way.
I paid at the front desk, which was a $ 40 co-​pay (but I have excellent insurance). Several minutes later I received a receipt and print outs of my prescriptions (although they would have sent them to directly to my pharmacy) and I was out the door.
The primary offender for delaying my visit was the X-​ray machine. I probably would have said «skip it» if I knew how long it would take.
The patient rooms were very loud. There was constant conversation coming from the hallway even when the patient room door was closed. I was sufficiently bothered that I said something and they took the criticism very seriously.
Hospital gowns were as «modest» and comfortable as any other hospital gown.
I would NOT go into CityMD with a complex medical condition. If I did not quickly get better, I would go to my general practitioner. But I only needed a quick look from a doctor in a timely manner, and that’s what I got.
(I think the first reviewer is incorrect because her expectations are unreasonably high given what we expect from an urgent care center. You don’t walk into Five Guys and complain that it isn’t up to the standards of your favorite steak house.)

Let’s just say I wouldn’t take anything these people suggest or tell you very seriously. Definitely seek a second opinion or just make an appointment with a primary care physician instead because they are rather unhelpful.
